There is nothing but darkness to be found.
Complete darkness.
It is a darkness which Tara Davidson has brought upon herself when she decided to slip the blindfold over both of her eyes before she settled herself into the comfortable cushions of the couch in her hotel room.
She needed the darkness in order to help herself feel more prepared.
Something that might seem odd to anyone else, but for Tara herself, it was exactly what she needed.
There is a noticeable difference in the way certain people will approach the manner in which they mentally prepare themselves for a major challenge. Especially something as diverse as a tag team tournament in which a wide arrangement of tag teams from several different companies have agreed to step up to offer competition.
That means it is a combination of both familiar faces and the unknown with almost no time to fully prepare for all of the challenges that will no doubt present themselves as obstacles standing in the path of glory. The allure of the NJFC tag team championship belts is impossible for both Tara and Jason to resist especially when they are already each holding NJFC championship gold.
That is one of the strongest bonds within their marriage. Both of their undeniable desires to push themselves to the maximum in order to achieve complete dominance inside of the ring. The very moment in which NJFC announced a tag team tournament to determined which tag team would become their champions, there was no doubt that Ascended Supremacy would be finding their way in the tournament, never a tag team to be frightened away by the challenge of the unknown and the false bravado of tag teams who believe themselves to be the ultimate when it comes to tag team wrestling.
In all essence, it was almost like both Tara and Jason would be walking into this tournament in complete darkness, which was a major part of why Tara was taking her time to become comfortable as she sat there in the darkness allowing for herself to become consumed until she felt like she was in complete control.
In a time when she should be feeling frightened, when the nerves should be gnawing away in the pit of her stomach, she was building herself up so that her inner strength could be matched by the resilience she will be finding once inside of the ring. There was a vast number of tag teams who would be competing in this tournament, not all of them would present a challenge, especially those who would be losing out early in the first round making it clear that they were doing nothing but passing through.
Those are the stepping stones who will soon be forgotten.
G.X.M. was a perfect example of such stepping stones. It was easy to put up a brave front, to throw around what sounded like full on confidence that those tag team championship belts were as good as won, but that meant nothing once the time for talking would be done. That is when the truth would be revealed and the weak would be separated from those who were enough of a threat to Ascended Supremacy. Even the strongest of tag team could recognize when there might be a viable threat standing in their path.
Although even if such a threat was to be found. It still will never be enough to shake a truly strong tag team such as Ascended Supremacy. Not even teams such as KashVille, WildLin, or The One Percent. All of the muscles brought upon by Vendetta or Pacific Wrecking Crew will come up short. It is the most obvious formula for all of these teams to step forward and boast about themselves as they attempt to break down those who will be challenging them on their quest to hold the NJFC tag team championship belts. All of the words end up sounding the same which tends to blur all of the faces together making it almost more preferable to be lost in the darkness when it comes to this tag team tournament.
None of these tag teams want to return back home empty handed. Not even The French Mimes Assassins or whatever ridiculous name they have given themselves. This tag team tournament was not short when it came to tag team combination who had ridiculous names making it hard to take them seriously before even having stepped foot into the ring. How seriously can you take a tag team that calls themselves The Beautiful Bodies? Or a tag team who calls themselves World's Most Dangerous or Double Entrendes? Especially when both of these names sound like some of the most generic tag team names in the world. There's almost too many names to even be able to keep them all straight which makes it a futile effort to even make an attempt to remember.
Instead in the darkness she finds herself being able to focus upon the fact that there are going to be some familiar faces to be found within this tournament. Faces such as Jason Cashe, Cyrus Riddle, Bronx Valescence, or even something of a blast from the past in Sativa Neveah. In singles competition it would be a different challenge, but in tag team competition, it is almost like going up against all of these people for the first time. It puts them on the exact same level as all of the names that are brand new to both Tara and Jason as they have been mentally preparing themselves for the challenge of this tag team tournament. It is a giant task which becomes almost too consuming for some competitors, but not for Ascended Supremacy, a fact which brings a sense of sudden comfort and peace inside of Tara as she remains perfectly still surrounded by the darkness.
The fact that herself and her husband are no strangers to tag team tournaments is going to work in their favor as they approach closer towards their goal of walking away as the NJFC tag team champions. There is no need for the trash talk, the empty threats, instead all she needs to do is to jump directly into the blind darkness knowing that she will step out into the light at the end. The golden shining light of the tag team championship belts as they will be presented to their rightful owners at the end of the night.
