Brief Bio: Owen grew up around a family who was nowhere near poverty but nowhere near millionaires. Owen was the second oldest of 4 brothers and lived with his father and now late, mother. Owen grew up idolising the likes of Donovan Kayl, Bronx Goldie, Ricky Valero, "100% Proof" Adam Edwards, "Mr. Wrestling" Steve Frei and Micah King. Wrestling was one of the Gonsalves' family's great traditions always sitting together and watching different televised wrestling shows so naturally the 4 brothers would wrestle in the backyard, living room, on the bed and even in the garage but only one would ever go as far as trying to make a living out of the extreme sport known as professional wrestling, that would be Owen.
Owen self trained himself at the age of 12 for about 2 months before his father found that his son was interested deeply in the sport and took it in his own hands to take his son to Detroit, Michigan for training. Owen left Melbourne, Australia at the age of 13 only weeks after his 13th birthday, with his father. Owen trained and wrestled in Detroit for nearly 6 years and in this time span Owen would've lost his mother to an illness, moved in with one of his trainers due to his father returning home and even breaking both his ankles until finally at the age of 18, Owen would return to Australia in hopes of starting a career in pro wrestling.
Pro Debut: February 2008 - Local Independent Promotion in Melbourne called PCWE

Gimmick: Owen Gonsalves is a man on a mission. For several years, Owen was deemed a deathmatch wrestler, known for taking daredevil-like dives, losing blood on the weekly with the use of light tubes, barbed wire, thumbtacks, broken glass. After a scare in the ring where he was embarrassed, humiliated and beaten to the point where he nearly lost his career, Owen made a return to the ring to strictly prove to himself, to his fans and to his doubters that he can wrestle. Gonsalves aims to create a career resurgence with a new style of wrestling, a healthier style of wrestling and a style that will help kill the past that haunts him and create a legacy that he can be proud of.
Wrestling Information
Past Injuries:
- Fractured both ankles during wrestling training, has worked them to full function
- Broken orbital bone in 2014 from a deathmatch
- Several cracked ribs from same match in 2014
- Few concussions from unprotected shots to the head
Wrestling Style: European Catch / High Impact Technical / Aerial Precision. Owen brings a creative, unique mix of catch submission wrestling with high upperbody based attacks and slams, along with a heavy use of aerial assaults. He's smart about out-wrestling his opponents and for the most part bases his attack around the head, neck, limbs and joint but is quick to adapt and adjust his game plan mid-match if things change. This style of wrestling is often viewed as pretty yet effective, an entertaining style that wows an audience which for years has been Owen's aim. Owen is very much an entertainer and his main objective is to put on a great match for the fans every show so if his opponent isn't holding their own, Owen has a tendency to fire them up or get them heated in order to put on a better performance for the audience in attendance, he may do this by lightly slapping them or throwing a taunt their way. When facing the more disrespectful or more hated opponent, Owen will shoot a spit or a snot rocket their way. Gonsalves enjoys interacting with the fans throughout the match and often is known for a few shenanigans during the match as well in order to throw the opponent off their game. (Independent based style, Zack Sabre Jr/Ricochet)
Wrestling Attire: Owen's ring attire alternates from trunks to tights depending on the location, weather and preference. The choice of trunks is usually the matching union jack trunks with SPLX on the back which was a nod to Owen's late trainer Dominic Hatcher's previous nickname, "Mr. Suplex". The choice of tights is usually royal blue, white and black trunks with "INDESTRUCTIBLE" embedded on the right thigh in grunge font. He wears white wrestling boots with no kneepads when in the trunks and black wrestling boots when in the tights. He doesn't wear elbow pads however he does tape his wrists more often these days.
Finishing Move: (You have a maximum of two finishing moves)
- "Final Gambit" - (Double Underhook Piledriver. The move is done in a fast motion due to Owen mastering the move and practicing it almost every chance he gets. It can be referred to as it's original name 'Violence Driver II'. // See Jay Briscoe's Jay Driller)
- "Krukenberg" - (Wrist-Bending Omoplata. Owen will often add more aggression to the hold by bending back the fingers of the opponent, bending it in awkward directions or he'll use his free leg to stomp around the shoulder and occasionally will kick at the opponent's head as seen in the video in order to gain a win. This is Owen's submission finisher // See Zack Sabre Jr.)
Signature Moves: (You have a maximum of three signature moves, that your character uses)
- "Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike" - (Bicycle Knee to a running/seated/kneeling/groggy opponent // See Kenny Omega's V-Trigger)
- "We Swear By The Southern Cross To Stand Truly By Each Other And Fight To Defend Our Rights And Liberties!" - (Double-Arm Octopus Stretch. Owen's primary submission signature, shortened to just 'Southern Cross'. If the opponent does not submit, Owen will transition into Doom Desire II or Krukenberg // See Katsuyori Shibata)
- "Darkest Lariat" - (Wristlock Short-Arm Lariat. Once executed, Owen will keep hold of the wrist and transition into his Krukenberg submission. // See Kazuchika Okada's Rainmaker)
Common Moves: (You're allowed up to 15 here)
- "Paroxysm" - (Snap Dragon Suplex, sometimes with a bridge)

- Finger Manipulation (bending the fingers and wrist in awkward ways, in order to snap them)
- Michinoku Driver
- Tope Con Hilo
- Capture Suplex
- Slingshot Flatliner
- European Uppercut
- Pointed Elbow Stomp (stomp to an arm bent backwards or forwards)
- Jim Breaks Special
- Surfboard
- Single Leg Boston Crab (usually with headscissors)
- Apron Grounded Jumping Knee Drop
Strengths:
Physical Toughness
Due to prior history and experience in some of the most brutal deathmatches and hardcore matches one could think of, Owen has developed some what of a sponge to soak up serious amounts of punishment that his opponent may dish out, this doesn't mean he doesn't feel pain but he can certainly take a lot of it.
In-Ring Fluidity
Owen's fluid motion inside the ring has become one of his major talking points, everything he does is quick and smooth, from his counters to the setting up of moves.
Technical Wrestling Prowess
Upon reverting back to his original ring style, Owen has also included a deep blend of European Catch Wrestling. This means that Owen is fluent in the art of submission wrestling or submission trickery and is also a master at countering or escaping a move in unique ways.
Weaknesses:
Risky Decisions
Owen does throw his body around and take chances when he needs to and especially when he's got his opponent reeling, however this does backfire on occasions and can cause from some serious trouble.
Size
While having improved on his size, Owen is still smaller than most other wrestlers so he does tend to have a size disadvantage in his matches.
Entertainer
Owen enjoys having fun in the ring and finding unique ways to entertain the crowd at his opponent's expense or at a snarky fan's expense, however these sort of distractions can be what costs Owen in the end unfortunately.
Allies:
- Craig Anderson (occasional tag team partner)
Enemies:
- Ricky Valero (blood feud in FGA)
- Mitsuo Shimada
Notable Accomplishments:
- First PPV Main Event- Ultimate Xcore Match, May 3rd 2014 in Japan (NEW)
- 1x IYH Champion (IYHWF, Current)
- 1x 3CW Full Metal Champion (NEWA)
- 1x SCW Tag Team Champion (Shootclub, w/ Ricky Angel)
- 1x SCW Grand Canyon Champion (Shootclub)
Entrance Information
Entrance Theme: "Blockbuster Night Part 1" by Run The Jewels
Entrance Description:
The hard bass beat of Run The Jewels' "Blockbuster Night Part I" vibrates throughout the arena as the crowd immediately look down the isle way in anticipation of the man about to step out from behind the curtain.
'Bunches and bunches
Punches is thrown until you’re frontless
Oodles and oodles
Bang bullets at suckers' noodles
Last album? Voodoo!
Proved that we was fuckin' brutal
I’m talking crazy, half past the clock is cuckoo'
As soon as Killer Mike spits the first words of the song, "Indestructible" Owen Gonsalves steps through to a pop from the audience as he flips up the collar of his old mentor's ring jacket and begins to analyse the crowd. Once El-P's verse begins, The Submission Alchemist immediately begins to walk down towards the ring, mouthing the words to the song as he acknowledges a few of the folks in the front row.
'Look at these kiddies, Mike
I'm a rat-a-tat 'em for living
I deal in dirty work
Do the deed and then dash
Ditch 'em'
Having made his way to the bottom of the ramp, Owen starts shadow boxing to the camera at the bottom of the ramp before throwing an elbow in the camera's direction as El-P says 'ditch 'em'. Owen climbs on the apron and up on the second turnbuckle, looking out to the audience before hopping in the ring. The music slowly fades as Owen removes his ring jacket and begins to warm up, awaiting for the match to start.
