GLOBAL TAKEOVER
Brought to you by Under Armour, Sony and Dr Pepper
Tuesday 16th May, Wednesday 17th May, Thursday 18th May
(Osaka-jō Hall, Osaka, Japan)
The Global Championship was the first title to be crowned back in 2016 and this year, and it's going to be the same this year. Since the retirement of Kurt Newman, the championship has been vacant but as of Global Takeover, a new champion will be crowned. What is expected if you are to be heralded the new champ? Well, first and foremost you are expected to make regular title defenses here in New Japan Fighting Championship. However, this is a title that can be contested for outside of our walls, provided that the eventual winner, signs a contract with NJFC. Meaning, if you were to defend this title at your home federation but you end up dropping the title, the person you dropped it too is expected to sign a contract or else it'll pretty much be relinquished. It's an openweight division, you can be of any size, or gender to compete for this prestigious belt that has a lot of history behind it stemming back to it's inaugural champion, Devin Hearst.
All matches will be written as summaries except from the final, with the time of the match being included at the end. The time limit for the first and second round matches are fifteen minutes, failure to secure the win in this time will lead to an additional 5 minutes, which will essentially be 'extra time'. And failure to secure the win in that extra five minutes, will result in both performance being scored, with the highest scoring competitor, going through to the next round.
