Asuka Yoshiro vs James Edwards
The match begins in earnest with Yoshiro slapping Edwards across the face. The younger and lighter wrestler looked to the crowd for a moment and came back with a hard slap of his own. The older Yoshiro and the younger lion in Edwards kept the polite audience at the edge of their seats with the reverb from the hard slaps. Yoshiro ended the series with a pair of chops and a hard right hand to the jaw of the Kentucky lion. Edwards looked at the audience in pain and popped up with a vicious roundhouse kick to Yoshiro's jaw. The older bruiser went to one knee holding his jaw, as Edwards came back around with a series of mid range kicks to the big man's chest. Asuka roared in anger and popped up with a hard elbow to the jaw of Edwards! The younger lion looked around in a state of pain and confusion as the old man threw another hard forearm into the jaw. Edwards looked stunned again, until he was slapped hard by Yoshiro!
Edwards looked at Yoshiro and slapped him hard and connected with a hard headbutt. The older man delivered his own headbutt, but Edwards answered with another headbutt and a low kick to the prone knee! Yoshiro went down in pain, as Edwards came back around and locked him into an old Southern Wrestling style headlock, gripping his knuckles in against the temple of the old Lion. Yoshiro attempted to lift up the younger grappler with a Backdrop Driver attempt. But the lighter frame of Edwards allowed the young man to keep his heels planted and keep the hold locked in. The crowd looked on, as Edwards drove his opponent to the ground slowly! Seeing that he had the advantage, he moved on top of Yoshiro's back and locked in an omoplated laced into a crossface! The audience rose to their feet, seeing this young Lion taking down the older veteran! He pulled back on the hold, as Asuka looked for an escape from his predicament. The crowd is divided as they chant for Asuka in one group, and Edwards in another group. The young Kentucky Lion is proving to be one of the favored gaijin in this tournament by crowd response.
As Asuka looked towards the ropes, Edwards tried to pull himself up into a better position. But the old man pulled his larger frame into the area of the ropes. The referee looked at the hand hitting the ropes, and he called for Edwards to release the hold. The young man did with some hesistation, as the crowd applauded the effort to bring the larger man down. Yoshiro got to his feet and nodded at his opponent. He offered out his hand in an attempt at the Greco-Roman lockup. Edwards took the invite and locked hands with the larger man. They jockey for position, but Yoshiro's size took over slowly as he powered Edwards down to the mat, prompting the official to stamp down onto the mat. He hit the one count, before Edwards used his amazing flexibility to vault himself up and out of trouble. Asuka tried to sweep the legs out, but Edwards pulled his legs up and into the gut. He hit the mat hard on his back, using the momentum to vault Yoshiro above his head. The older man landed gingerly on his back. The audience gasped as they saw him moving slowly on the mat.
Edwards looked up at the lights as Asuka pulled himself up to the standing position. Slowly, he kipped himself up and faced his opponent. Both men came back charging with strikes, but Yoshiro got in the hard right and the surprise Enzugiri to the back of Edward's head! The young man goes face down to the mat, holding the back of his head. Asuka breathed in a bit more, considering that his back was still stinging from the modified Tomoenage dropped by Edwards. Slowly he picked up Edwards and whipped him to the ropes hard. The old Lion readied his arm and threw out a vicious Lariato. But Edwards rolled under quickly and came back with a hard elbow strike to the back of the head. Yoshiro goes to a knee, but Edwards plants a hard kick to the back of the exposed knee. The momentum of the move causes Yoshiro to hit the ground in a seated position. Seeing he had only one chance to end this match... Edwards came back and vaulted himself off the rope and planted an expertly timed hard soccer kick to the head he called the Violent Gospel!
Yoshiro gets forced onto his back, and it looked like it was lights out for the old Lion. Edwards leaped down and pinned the shoulders onto the mat, but the referee counted to three for the mere formality of it all. As the referee raised the hand of James Edwards, the various medical staff and Young Boys were applying smelling salts to Yoshiro from the impact of the kick...
