TAG-TEAM-TROPOLIS
LIVE FROM NIPPON BUDOKAN!
JUNE 28TH - JUNE 30TH
NIGHT ONE - JUNE 28TH
Korato Shiozaki: ("Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the mecca of tag team wrestling! NJFC presents TAG-TEAM-TROPOLIS live from Nippon Budokan! I am Korato Shiozaki, and joining me as always is my co-commentator, Nakano Gozen! And tonight, we have a showcase that promises to be world class, in our first night of a three night series, where we will crown a NEW World NJFC Tag Team Champion! There's a lot of world class teams in the mix and a lot of new ones looking to pull off an upset, and I'm all in, Nakano!")
Nakano Shiozaki: ("As am I, Korato, tonight promises to be a spectacular as we will find out one of the teams advancing into the finals in two days time! Both of the brackets are stacked to the brim with teams and I can't wait to find out who has what it takes to go all the way.")
HIGHLY EMOTIONAL DEBUT
Cloudy: “What a special night tonight is. A night filled with opportunities for all of us lucky enough to be featured on this event. A night that could and very much will change the landscape of tag team wrestling in our entire profession and only one team will walk out of this thing alive…”
Cloudy smirks, nodding her head before holding up one finger to the camera. As she drops it she looks up as she continues.
Cloudy: “New Japan Fighting Championship welcome to TAG-TEAM-TROPOLIS! Some of you may not be familiar with me yet, and that’s okay. Allow me to take you on an elevated journey you will never forget about. My name is Cloudy and I am beyond proud to be here tonight to be competing in this tournament but you know what’s better than one Elevated show stopper?”
Cloudy smirks before raising an eyebrow before shrugging her shoulders looking playfully clueless for a moment. She nods her head and speaks out.
Cloudy: “Obviously this is a tag team tournament and the tag team gods.. and management.. we’re looking up for the elevated one when they had partners in mind! I mean, was there really any other choice when you looked at us both? The winners of this tournament set the bar high for the future.. and my partner is the definition of what the future of the business will look like. Together? I just know we’re going to turn heads and keep all you people on your feet and screaming our names with what we have in store for you all!”
The elevated one steps back as she says this, being joined by her partner for this event. In steps a tall slender figure, black and green dyed hair obscuring the top half of his face, a black and green plaid, spiked face mask hiding the bottom. He was dressed in a white Bleach hoodie, and his wrestling attire which matched his face in composition. Pulling down his face mask, revealing pale white skin and and a pierced lip, the man flips his hair out of his eyes and softly smiles.
Weston: Why that was some introduction, thank you Cloudy. What the future of this business' looks like, that’s really saying something. But the same could be said about you, that’s the thing about this tournament. The thing that I at least think is the most interesting. See they don’t know a lot about us, they probably don’t even think we can work together, because why would they? What have we proven? Nothing… We’ve proven nothing, and that is just the facts.
Flipping his hair out of his eyes once again, he looks up to the overhanging lights - taking a moment to let it all sink in before his smile grows a little wider, a lingering shyness still apparent.
Weston: Shit, my bad…In all the excitement of being here, in Japan at TAG -TEAM-TROPOLIS… I think I’ve forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Weston Lovejoy, and I am the hope for every man, woman, being on this earth that you can do great things, even if you don’t follow the mold of everyone else. I want to set an example for everyone who has every been thrown aside, discarded, or misused - that the past does not define us, how we look does not tell our story. It’s our actions… It’s who we want to become, and what we’re willing to do to get there…That makes us who we are.
Realizing he just went on a bit of a rant, he looks back to an encouraging cloudy, giving him a thumbs up. He turns back to the camera.
Weston: But like I was saying at the start… We’ve proven nothing… But that means that we have everything to prove.
“Believe it kid, we’re really here.” Cloudy can be heard whispering from behind Weston before nodding her head and smiling in the process.
Cloudy: And that’s exactly it, Weston! That’s exactly it indeed! We, just like everyone else, have a lot to prove here tonight. And you know what they say about those who have nothin’ to lose…
Cloudy smirks, stepping next to her tag team partner again.
Cloudy: We have all the more to gain. You see, most people would look at us and think we have a disadvantage given never working together before, but Weston and I have similar morals and hopes and dreams for the future and we know we have to do what we have to do to get to where we want to be. He was trained by one of my best friends, Josh Kennedy, who has also been a huge help in my development and influence as a professional wrestler. Weston and I are a force to be reckoned with and a unit to be on the lookout for because with us? The opportunities and possibilities are endless on the places we will go and I am picturing a very, very impressive forecast for our futures.
Cloudy giggles at her obvious pun, before putting a hand on her partner’s shoulder. She nods her head before looking at the cameras again.
Cloudy: We’re willing to go the extra mile to get to where we need to be. You see, we recognize that we have a lot to prove and a lot to show you all in the back and out here in Japan, but when Highly Emotional comes at ya, ya better ready cause we’re two young firecrackers ready to make an impression on the scene!
An eyebrow raises on her right side as she shakes her partner's shoulder hyping him up. Weston bounces back from foot to foot, his tongue flipping his lip ring back and forth as he nods his head - seemingly in sync with his makeshift partner.
Weston: Highly Emotional, I dig that. Because that’s exactly what we are! Especially when it comes to this business, this moment, this dream! While everyone else is counting us out, we’re focused on what is directly in front of us. And that’s being the best tag-team we can be! Some of you may have more experience, while others may just have a longer friendship. But Cloudy and I, we have a hunger that can not be matched and it’s not just because we blazed a few before stepping up into this. It’s because we were born hungry…Never satisfied at being looked over, our time is now! And hell! Even if we don’t win… We’re going to put the entire roster of notice!
Weston puts his arm around Cloudy’s shoulder and pulls her close, flipping his hair out of his face once again before pointing to the camera.
Weston: We’re Highly Emotional… And we’re the future!... Of professional Wrestling.
#1. Highly Emotional (Lovejoy & Cloudy) vs. The Renjas (Renja Ake & Buru)
The first match of the evening see's the NJFC mainstays, The Renjas, up against the newly assembled Highly Emotional. Cloudy and Ake start off the proceedings and Cloudy immediately gains control over Ake, locking him into a variety of standing holds, culminating with a hammerlock before she pushes Ake into the padded corner. She makes the tag out to Lovejoy, who instantly gets to work on the arm of Ake, wrenching it over before pulling down on it. The duo Irish whip Ake into the ropes, and on his return he is met with a double dropkick! Buru slingshots his way into the ring looking to back up his brother but simultaneous superkicks land from Highly Emotional!
The referee begins to complain, saying that Cloudy shouldn't be in the ring and she quickly exits, with Ake recovering and managing to blindside Lovejoy with an attack from behind. Buru delivers a series of high-flyng moves, a hurricanrana, followed by a springboard single leg dropkick. He makes the tag out to Buru who continues the aerial assault, flying into the ring and landing a forearm on Lovejoy. He goes for the pin but Lovejoy kicks out at one, to the adoration of the fans who applaud him. Buru heads to the ropes, looking for a running shooting star press but Lovejoy rolls out of the way, kips up and heads to the ropes himself. Buru shuffles across the canvas, looking to trip him up but Lovejoy evades, skipping over. He springboards off of the ropes, landing the OK, Time for plan B (springboard roundhouse kick)! He tags out to Cloudy, who springboards into the ring, landing a dropkick on the Ake who ran towards her! She quickly gets to her feet, turning her attention to Buru who's by the corner! She runs at him, delivering her signature “Puff, Puff, Pass it” - Corner Yakuza Kick, before tagging out to Lovejoy! Lovejoy grabs Buru by his wrists, performing his finishing A Moment of Sincerity ( Wrist-Clutch Stomps to the head ) as Buru passes out and the referee declares this one over!
Winners: Weston Lovejoy & Cloudy (07:43)
#2. Hijo de la Muerta & AKIO vs. Lily Blaise & Lyra Nickols
Starting off in the ring is Hijo de la Muerta & Lily Blaise, with both competitors circling round the ring, eying one another. Lyra Nickols is telling Blaise to rip off Hijo's mask and Blaise smirks at the suggestion, as Hijo holds onto his mask and points at Lyra, as if to say 'you dare'. The two competitors lock up in the middle of the ring and jockey in position with Hijo, managing to lock Blaise into a side headlock. Blaise pushes him back into the ropes, managing to force the ropebreak as the referee starts to count. Hijo releases as Blaise backs up a little, before slapping Hijo across the face. The fans jeer as Blaise smirks walking back as Hijo holds onto the side of his face. The two circle the ring once more before engaging in another tie up, except this time, Blaise is quick to get in and behind Hijo, dropping him with a drop toe hold and keeping him grounded on the canvas with a wrist lock. Hijo rolls forward then back, before, before kipping up and reversing the hold.
He releases his grasp of her, looking for an enziguri but Lily evades, ducking underneath his attempt. Hijo looks towards his partner AKIO but he seems disinterested, looking away from the action as Lily looks towards Lyra, and makes the tag. Hijo goes towards AKIO who reluctantly tags himself in. AKIO and Lyra circlre the ring, and AKIO is surprisingly sharp on his feet, managing to side step Lyra on several ocassions, changing directions as he bounces off of the ropes. Lyra stops in the centre of the ring, catching AKIO with a hip-toss but he cartwheels through, before landing an enziguri on Lyra! He walks around the ring, brushing off his shoulders as he looks towards his partner, Hijo, who looks surprised to see his partner so active for once. AKIO then tags out to Hijo and the two look to combine on Lyra.
AKIO holds her in place as Hijo springboards off of the ropes, but Lyra manages to move out of the way! Hijo connects with a springboard elbow on his partner! Hijo looks down at AKIO, holding onto his head as Akio holds onto his jaw, rolling around the ring. Lyra lands her signature Snake Bit (rolling elbow) on Hijo, before she tags out to Lily who lands her finishing, Deglamourizer (Backstabber into a Rear Naked Choke) for the win!
Winners: Lily Blaise & Lyra Nickols (10:21)
The World Over Heaven Press Highlight
The World Over Heaven’s part of the press conference begins with Mallory Bennett quietly pushing her microphone on the table away from her and towards MYŌJIN’s. She does not glance their way, more focused on pulling a large duffle bag from underneath the conference table. With a single zip, the Patron Saint of Harm’s way begins pulling out various items of choice.
Mallory Bennett: Head of garlic? Check. Phil Collen’s first guitar pick? Check. A Tibetan reliquary? Check. Chalk for drawing an anti-magic circle around this building that I took care of HOURS before this conference began…Forgive me if I ain’t too rosy as I’m on no sleep. Check. A stake made out of meteorite because wood just ain’t doing it on cosmic level vampires? Check.
Mallory Bennett lets out an exhale, nervously glancing back at MYŌ. She clears her throat.
Mallory Bennett: Listen darlin’ I’ll be honest I don’t think any of this would slow down Devlin. I don’t even have anything as an answer to Cecily. That bitch has a hat. How do you compete with that? Looks like The World Over Heaven will have to do this the old fashioned way.
Mal flicks the head of garlic on the table.
MYŌJIN seems completely unamused as they simply sit, elbows on the table and chin in hands. They raise their eyebrows toward Mallory before sitting back.
MYŌJIN: Considering that the only reason Devlin is a champion at all is because of the various women he seems to have by his side. I think Cecily should be what we're really focused on.
Though they then pause.
MYŌJIN: …But you're right, she does have a hat. That will be a problem. Have anything like a Monkey's Paw?
Mallory Bennett: Monkey’s Paw…Monkey’s Paw…Hold on.
Mallory begins rummaging deeper into the duffel bag, continuing to talk through the upcoming match as she does so.
Mallory Bennett: Now make no mistake, I ain’t under the illusion that you can’t take Devlin. You can. Modicum of payback and all that for what should be yours. Shit, it honestly falls on me to deal with the Hat in Team HatFace. Could also be said if we meet Bryan and Owen later down the line since you’ve kinda…Scrubbed Gonsalves like fifty times. Ah-ha!
Mallory doesn’t pull out a gnarled monkey’s paw, but an orangutan’s paw. She frowns and puts it back.
Mallory Bennett: Close but not close enough.
MYŌJIN leans over curiously to peak at the inside of Mallory's bag, then turning back to briefly stare at the orangutan's paw in her hand.
MYŌJIN: Is that real? Don't answer that. Anyways, I won't speak much on Bryan because he's our boss at King's Road and I think we both would prefer to keep our jobs- but Owen? Owen Gonsalves being the one to shit talk us? I've made him tap out so many times it's second nature to me, wrestling Owen is like going on autopilot when you've done it as many times as I have. I think actually us wrestling a broom or just watching morning dew on grass drying would be far more entertaining for everyone involved than seeing Owen Gonsalves do… well, anything, to be honest. He's very bland. Like, could anyone here accurately describe what Owen's personality is? I would like to pay Bryan back for dropping me head first on an apron at NEO though… Oh, right. Other teams. We can't forget the other teams-
MYŌJIN turns to Mallory, halting as their mouth hangs agape as if they suddenly had an epiphany.
MYŌJIN: How many of the tag teams in this tournament actually have team names? …How many of them have actually been a team before this? Do you know?
MYŌJIN turns back to face the camera and points out to a reporter.
MYŌJIN: あなたは知っていますか?(Do you know?)
Off-screen, barely audible Reporter: 私はしません?(I… don't?)
MYŌJIN: Ah… What about the cameraman? なたは知っていますか?(Do you know?)
The camera view simply shakes side to side: no.
The Shining Star frowns and rubs the side of their temple, in deep contemplation.
Mallory Bennett: There are some capable teams here. Midnight Demon Club for example? Romero and Noa done some vicious things and been to the mountain as House of Wrestling’s tag team champions. They’re certainly proven. I know of the Kali Kingpins, hell. There are good teams out and about.
The Saint of Harm pauses.
Mallory Bennett: They just ain’t us. I mean if y’all wanna know the truth of it, we’re an uncrowned tag team. We can go and go and yet something like this—this tournament? This should be our moment. Hell. This will be our moment.
MYŌJIN: Of course, the question is- Why? Why is it suddenly our tournament to win? Well… Why not? The two of us have spent so much time clawing and scratching to get somewhere. We're the team that was never supposed to exist, there is no grand story for why we initially came together. We just decided one day that we should- and right now, I realize it's because we both recognize the hunger, the ambition we share. Our ego is one in the same. This isn't some side quest to check off tag team championships off our resumes, this is to prove and justify why we became one in the same.
Mallory Bennett: There have been a lot of exhausting times in my career, in their career. We ain’t doing this one just to say ‘well y’all we tried’. Not this time around. This time around The World Over Heaven had come to conquer every single tag team that rises up. We came to prove to y’all what we already know: when you put The One of One and The Strongest Around together? There ain’t a force in the world, there ain’t an entity in this life or the next or the other after that to stop us. Check your egos at the door, because there ain’t no room for any but ours.
MYŌJIN: …Ooh, that's good. I wish I said that. Did you just come up with all of that on the fly? But yes, The World Over Heaven is going to win because we said we are. We know we can and we will make sure that we will. Any questions?
Before anyone actually gets the chance to ask questions, MYŌJIN stands and rolls their shoulders with a soft yawn.
MYŌJIN: Hey, Mal, ever been to a Japanese Denny's? Your mind is going to be blown.
Mallory Bennett: Don’t tease me with a good time.
She follows them out.
Team HatFace Press Highlight
Up next we see the team of Cecily Golding and her partner, the NJFC Global Champion — Brennan Devlin wandering out to the podium. Both of them pull up a chair as Cecily kicks her feet up and begins to check her phone, while Devlin is busy looking at himself in a little hand mirror. He wore an orange jacket with a ‘Devlin-gun’ shirt underneath and bright orange pants, while Cecily wore ‘Team Hatface’ merch and her titular red hat and some shorts, both of them rather casual and chill for what was bound to be a very serious discussion. Cecily was also just chilling with Devlins Global Championship, she seemingly liked it.
Brennan Devlin: “See Cecily, I told you, these microphones suck.”
Cecily Golding: “Oh wow they do suck.”
Brennan tapped the microphone, all annoyed as they both took their seat and prepared to answer some questions.
WRESTLING NEWS NET: “Hello, I’m Merv Shmoogly with Wrestling News Net, I just want to get Brennans thoughts on what happened with Myojin at the previous show, and your ultimate win of the Global Championship.”
Cecily Golding: “He’s letting me hold it.”
Brennan Devlin: “I am. She can hold it. Anyway, Myojin fought valiantly, then, what happened? They lost and… cried immediately about it on Twitter because that’s their one move. Wah wahs and boo-hoos.”
Cecily Golding: “Bet they’re mad I’m holding the belt.”
Brennan Devlin: “Probably. Anyway, I told you all what was going to happen. My thoughts have all been articulated before. I told you, and when did I tell you? A long time ago, and what did I say would happen? Exactly what happened.”
A pause for another question.
BOB CECILS WRESTLING TUBE: “That brings us to your first match in the Tag Team Tropolis, you meet Myojin again but this time in a different situation, as you and Cecily are facing the World Over Heaven, Myojin and Mallory Bennett? What are your thoughts on facing Myojin again, and Cecily, what are your thoughts on this being your debut here in the NJFC joining your longtime friend in the midst of this feud?”
Cecily Golding: “I mean, of course he needed me to come help. Brennan has always needed me to come help. But I’m a very gracious, giving person and he also said I’d get some of his paycheck for coming along too, so, I mean why not? I need stuff.”
Brennan Devlin: “I honestly don’t know how Myojin keeps doing it. You know, setting themselves up for disappointment.”
Cecily Golding: “Ha, he said do it.”
Brennan Devlin: “I did.”
They both high five, then lean back into their seats.
Brennan Devlin: “This right here is my best friend, Cecily Golding is family. Nobody else in this whole thing has a stronger bond than me and this woman. We trained together, we found our way through pro wrestling together in the early years. Cecily and I are holding hands right now in fact.”
Both of them hold their hands up to show they are in fact holding hands just out of sight of the cameras.
Brennan Devlin: “Together, Myojin and Mallory cannot add up to what we have. They can make all the lame Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure references they want but in that ring, I’ll run over them like I’m One Punch Man.
Cecily Golding: “I don’t know what any of that means but I agree.”
Brennan Devlin: “Final questions though, we have calls to make.
FURRY WRESTLING NEWS: “How do you feel about your fans in the furry community?”
Brennan Devlin: “Fuck them.”
Cecily Golding: “Never accidentally go on furry twitter.”
Brennan Devlin: “One more real question.”
GRAPS OBSERVER: “I want to ask with the recent announcement of your Devlin-gun group, who exactly are you thinking of recruiting, and for Cecily, who would you like to see in it?”
Brennan Devlin: “So many.”
Cecily Golding: “Children of the Moon. I like them.”
Brennan Devlin: “Yeah Bexssssss loves me. Julie got glazed by me once.”
Cecily Golding: “Saw her at the club meeting.”
Brennan Devlin: “Hot. People currently involved with NJFC, and this tag team thing that have hit my mind would be… Lyra obviously, I think she has some unrefined characteristics that with some work would get her to that next level. Rowen would be a good addition if she sticks around. Bryan Williams would be an interesting choice given our history but I’d honestly rather fight him. Lots of people who, if interested, could fit. Outside the company? Shit, Natalie Kassidy, Heather Haze, Mariah Kennedy, Alyssa Grace, Aubrey Moresi, Dick Dickson, so many good callouts and we’re going worldwide so who knows who we might get? I have so many friends.”
Cecily Golding: “I’m the best though.”
Brennan Devlin: “You are! Any other questions? No?”
Cecily Golding: “I was only paid for like three.”
Brennan Devlin: “Same. So Hatface bids you all adieu, until you can afford more questions. Buh-bye.”
Cecily Golding: “Bye Japan!”
They both waved and wandered off, the Global Champion and his partner heading off to leave it to the next.
Prior to his match, the song ‘I Am Jesus’ by Infant Sorrow was playing through the arena as the NJFC Global Champion — Brennan Devlin would make his presence felt, accompanied by his tag team partner, Cecily Golding. The two of them both had microphones and seemed to have something to say as his music cut down for the moment.
BRENNAN DEVLIN: “Ladies and gentlemen, you thought Devlin-gun was done recruiting but we’re just getting started. Because accompanying us to the ring you get the newest member of Devlin-gun, this woman has defeated Tapp Wrestling if you remember him, she’s defeated even me, and she’s my /other/ best friend…”
CECILY GOLDING: “You have another best friend? What the fuck Brennan?!”
BRENNAN DEVLIN: “You’ll like her too, don’t worry. Ladies and gentlemen, the newest member of Devlin-gun… NATALIE KASSIDY!”
Soon, Natalie would join them both on stage, and Cecily ran at her to hug her and Devlin came in to hug her too. It was actually quite abnormal to see, given those who had followed Natalie and Brennan could remember a lengthy previous feud. Once the three of them celebrated their newly found alliance, the group of them would turn and wander down the stage for the match, and it looked like Natalie was sticking it out with them!
#3. The World Over Heaven (Mallory & MYOJIN) vs. Team Hatface (Devlin & Golding)
The most anticipated match of the tournament. As the bell rings, Nippon Budokan rises and applauds as both teams stands in their designated corners, looking over at one another whilst talking tactics. The fans are evidently on the side of The World Over Heaven as MYO-CHAN echoes through the Budokan. MYO smirks, delighted by the reception but it quickly disappears and is replaced with a stern, serious look. They look at their partner Mallory Bennett, giving her the head not as Mallory steps out to start the match. Devlin smirks from the opposite side of the ring, holding up his Global Championship before passing it to one of the Young Dragon's outside the ring. He steps out onto the apron, as Golding takes her steps further toward the centre. Bennett and Golding rapidly circle the ring, eyeing each other up, getting closer and closer as they look to lock horns. Golding is quick to punt Mallory in the mid section, doubling her over as she clubs her round the back with a forearm.
She embraces the boo's from the Budokan faithful, mocking them as she ushers Mal towards the ropes. An Irish whip attempt is reversed by Mal, and Golding bounces off of the ropes, immediately taken down by a shoulder barge by Mal. Mal takes off to the ropes again and Golding is back up on her feet, following her, landing a hard elbow by the ropes. Golding wrings the arm of Mal around before delivering a kick to the mid section, and making the tag to Devlin. Devlin jumps into the action, wringing the arm of Mal around before delivering a kick of his own, blowing a kiss towards MYO before tagging back out to Golding. Golding enters, grabbing Mal and Irish whipping her towards the ropes. Golding looks for a clothesline but Mal ducks underneath it, a series of snap jabs connect followed by a huge bionic elbow that rocks Golding! Golding stumbles into the padded corner and Mal further delivers a series of corner punches, quickening up the tempo and intensity, as the fans encourage her! She tags out to MYO and the two immediately combine, as Mallory gets on all fours and Myo jumps off her back to a hit From Osaka With Love I (Corkscrew Roundhouse Kick) on Golding!
MYO then takes off towards Devlin on the apron, who jumps down before he can get hit. Suddenly, Avalon Vega and Cannon are making their way down to ring, which captures the attention of MYO, who looks towards them as they back up Devlin. This allows enough time for Golding to get herself back into the contest, clubbing MYO from behind with a clothesline. She waits for them to get back to their feet, before delivering another sickening clothesline from hell, before tagging out to Devlin.
The NJFC Global Champion is met with an array of boo's echoing through the Budokan as he delivers boots to the grounded MYO. He grabs them by the face, pushing them up against the corner and repeatedly delivers forearms to the head. He backs away from the corner, only to deliver running double knee to the chest of MYO, who crumbles to the canvas. The fans jeer even louder than before as Devlin mocks MYO, chanting their signature "MYO-CHAN" chant, playfully. Devlin goes for his finishing Face Time (curb stomp) but MYO evades, rolling Devlin up from behind for a two! The two race back up, another pin variation from MYO leads to another two! For a third time they return to their feet and MYO hits Devlin with their signature Oneirataxia (Bicycle Knee Strike)!
Devlin staggers back into his corner and Golding tags in as MYO runs towards Devlin, looking to land another another bicycle knee but Avalon and Cannon yank him out of the ring! Golding takes off to the ropes, bounces off them and performs a spear followed by mounted punches on MYO! The fans jeer as she rises to her feet. MYO gradually rises too and Golding looks to hoist them up onto her shoulders for her finishing Estée Slaughter (F5). MYO's leg manages to swing out towards Mal and she tags in, as MYO rolls down the back of Golding. The two combine with their finishing Stardust Crusade (Double Irish whip to the opponent. On the rebound, Myōjin hits a gamengiri while Mallory hits a spear at the same time.) Mal then covers Golding for the one, two, and three!
Winners: The World Over Heaven (Mallory & MYOJIN) (18:30)
#4. Yui Watanabe & Eimi Matsuda vs. JDS & Vic Porter
The match begins with Yui Watanabe and JDS squaring off, with JDS trying to use his strength and power to his advantage but Watanabe manages to evade every one of his advances. She's quick and nimble, managing to wiggle her way out of a variety of situations before gaining the upperhand herself. A stiff forearm smash is followed by a Reverse Hurricanrana, and she makes the tag out to Eimi Matsuda. Matsuda enters the action and immediately gets to work, a Snapmare & Necksnap Combo is followed by a Handspring Elbow Smash. JDS manages to make the tag out to the big man Vic Porter afterwards, who towers over the much smaller Eimi Matsuda. This doesn't concern Matsuda though, who quickly manages to ground the big man as she evades his lariat attempt, and takes him down with the Star Maker (Springboard Tornado DDT). She tags out to Yui, who springboards into the ring to land her signature Watanabe Cutter (Cutter Variations *Juming, Handspring, Springboard, Diving, Pop-Up) to seal the win!
Winners: Eimi Matsuda & Yui Watanabe (04:20)
#5. Asuka Yoshiro & King Kojima vs. Kurokawa-gun (Shikimi & Umeko)
Yoshiro and Kojima aren't their usual frantic selves as they make their way down to the ring. They look pissed off and are hurling insults, demanding for their opponents to come out at once. The Kurokawa-gun receieve an electric reception as they make their way to the ring, with Shikimi and Umeko exchanging words with their opponents as they reach the apron. Shikimi and Umeko would greet the veteran team of Yoshiro and Kojima with Kurokawa-Ryū #20 (Double Front Missile Dropkick!) before the match had even started. The bell rings and Umeko whips Shikimi towards Yoshiro in the corner, connecting with the Black Mirror - Aided Corner Lariat! Shikimi quickly tags Umeko in and they combine again, a Kurokawa-Ryū #10 - Double Side Suplex connects! Kojima raids the ring, looking to put a stop to the double team carnage but Shikimi keeps him at bay, ducking underneath his strike attempt, before connecting with a Pele. Shikimi then turns her attenton to Yoshiro, delivering a Rolling Wheel Kick as Umeko delivers a Cobra Clutch Bomb for their finishing Kurokawa-Ryū #60! Umeko covers for the win!
Winners: Kurokawa-gun (Shimiki & Umeko) (02:34)
Midnight Demon Club Press Highlights
Enter the Midnight Demon Club. Silas was surprisingly well dressed for the occasion, while Noa was well, not. The two sauntered up to the podium with a swagger that was unmatched by just about anyone in the room. A smirk slid across Silas’ lips as the two stood in front of the podium. The #MDC scanned the room as the hands started to pop up one by one.
SILAS ROMERO: “Listen, this is the part where you all start asking your silly little questions. I know this and I completely understand this, but…”
Silas gave a wag of his finger and Noa chuckled like the rabid alien that she is.
SILAS ROMERO: “That shit just isn’t going to happen.”
NOA SKYE: “WE DO NOT NEED TO ANSWER TO ANY OF YOU!”
Silas recoiled from the screams before shaking it off and continuing on.
SILAS ROMERO: “Y'all messed up real bad when you gave us, especially me, the opportunity to get a live microphone. So, there are some things that we’re going to need to address. Get it? You get it.” Silas cleared his throat “Things haven’t been coming up aces for the Midnight Demon Club recently. We were SCREWED out of our House of Wrestling World Tag Team Championship titles. We were their longest reigning Champions that company ever saw, but apparently we were a cancer to that company. Can you believe that? Us? A cancer? Who could ever look at these two faces and see anything other than SAVIORS.”
Silas tightens his grip on the edge of the podium, while Noa starts to jump with excitement.
SILAS ROMERO: “So, of course that’s why we’re here. Did I answer one of your idiotic questions without you needing to ask it? We’re here to save this division before it even has a chance to be corrupted. Sure. You got plenty of good teams. Hell, I even see some great teams in the field.. But, I only see ONE Midnight Demon Club and NO ONE is on our level. Now, point two goes hand and hand with the fact that we should and will be the odds on favorite to pull out the big, fat DUB in this tournament - WE close out night one. Not the World Over Heaven. Not Team Hatface.. US. However, I do seem a very disturbing amount of people overlooking us. I get it.. I do. When you have a guy like Devlin runnin’ around, he’s going to take up a lot of the bandwidth on people’s attention span… But everyone around us needs to quickly, very quickly put some damn respect on our name.”
NOA SKYE: “I FIND YOUR LACK OF FAITH DISTURBING, ASSHOLES!”
SILAS ROMERO: “Yeah! We have the high ground and you’re all just a bunch of Anakin’s. Wait. Would you all prefer me to say something along the lines of we’re Frieza and you’re Krillin and you’re all about to explode?”
NOA SKYE: “Yeah.. We’re going to blow you up with our minds.”
Noa laughs loudly into the microphone, while Silas simply shakes his head and joins her in her laughter. He was mostly just enjoying the fact Noa didn’t scream-talk at everyone for once.
SILAS ROMERO: “Too wrap all of this shit up, we’re just going to leave you with this - The Midnight Demon Club has always and will always be the Saviors of Tag Team Wrestling. In that ring, we’re better than any family or long-standing tag team and we will be leavin’ Japan with those precious, precious title belts. Why? Why is what you’re asking yourselves, because you’re stupid and you don’t have any listening skills because I already explained that… But, well… The Club always wins when the chips are down.”
NOA SKYE: “... Unless we’re up against forty-seven Ronin that came to steal our belts.”
SILAS ROMERO: “We rectified that egregious action that was committed against us. However, at the end of the day… We shall leave this field wondering what every other team has wondered that has come up against us… SOMETIMES!”
NOA SKYE: “... DEAD IS BETTER!”
SILAS ROMERO: “You’re welcome for us blessing your day and saving this three ring circus from becoming a shit show.”
The two of them smirked, while taunting everyone in attendance, mainly the other teams in the field.
It was just prior to the match of MIYATA and Hiroyoshi Suzuki taking on the team of the Midnight Demon Club — Silas Romero and Noa Skye. As the MDC is making their way onto the stage, the NJFC Global Champion — Brennan Devlin wanders out and actually causes both of them to visibly stop. The crowd goes silent as their theme music plays in the background.
Korato Shiozaki: (“The NJFC Global Champion has no reason to be out here!”)
Devlin would soon brandish two Devlin-gun t-shirts, offering them to both of them. Noa and Silas seem perplexed for a moment.
Nakano Gozen: (“It seems that he’s given an invitation to the Midnight Demon Club to join Devlin-gun!!”)
The both of them would seemingly accept, then Brennan would go in and hug each of them. Noa was receptive while Silas seemed a little taken aback. Then Brennan would pat Noa on her helmet and point at MIYATA saying something about taking him out in particular, Silas mouths him and points thn shrugs, before the two would complete their entrance.
