I opened my eyes and looked around to find myself back in my room. Lucien was asleep in a chair to my right. In my left arm an IV dripping blood made me shiver.
Lucy: D-did we get him?
Both Michael and Rachel didn’t say anything. Rachel tossed my brother’s lighter and it hit him square in the forehead. Lucien jolted awake.
Lucien: Hey sleepy head.
Lucy: Did we get him?
Lucien: No, he got away. He somehow teleported out and Mel and I were taking care of you.
Lucy: Should have went after him.
Lucien: No, we weren’t about to lose you.
Michael looked at the machine and was writing down my vitals. Rachel sat next to me on the bed and I could tell she was crying more than normal. She pulled me into a hug causing me to look in shock.
Rachel: We could have lost you. I don’t want you to leave me too!
I hugged her back.
Lucy: I’m not going anywhere I promise.
Rachel sniffed.
Rachel: Good cause you got a match soon.
I looked around and saw Maxim in the door way.
Maxim: You gonna be okay?
I nodded again.
Lucy: Yeah.
Maxim: Good, Lucien, Rei let’s go. Mikey if something happens, call us.
Michael nodded and the three of them walk out. I sigh and feel my head hit the back of the pillow.
Michael: So your match?
I look up at him.
Lucy: Oh right…
I slowly sit up the best that I can.
Lucy: So in the first round we’re facing The French Mime Assassins. I’m honestly not sure if these guys are confused or what. I mean I’m clearly a female and my cousin is clearly a male. How they got that confused is beyond me. So let me tell you guys something about me. I’m not normal nor is my cousin. We’re a different breed of people and we’re called magi-blood and well for me I have a mutation.
I opened my mouth and popped my fangs out.
Lucy: Surprise boys, this woman is curse with vampirism. Oh trust me I’m not afraid to bite. Now I think you guys believe that maybe just maybe because I’m a woman, you’ll get the win easy. If that’s the case then you’re funny. I mean mimes are supposed to be funny right?
I rolled my eyes.
Lucy: Boys you better be paying attention to what I’m going to say alright? You can say whatever you want but when we get into the ring, the bets are off. Maxim and I aren’t playing around. We’re here to win and if I have to make you guys bleed, I won’t feel sorry about it.
Thing is you need to worry about Maxim and I. We’re very stealthy especially someone like me. Tell me, what is it that has held you back in the past? Why is it that you are unable to execute the moves you dream of? Why can you not capitalize on certain opportunities as you simply allow them to pass you by? Do you understand where it all goes wrong for you? Can you pinpoint those moments and more importantly, have you evaluated those moments in order to conclude what you need to do to alter the outcome? Or at the very least, how to go about fixing them to ensure they do not harm you in the future? I highly doubt it. You don’t have the mental capacity to make change – only the strong can do that. Previously in my career, it was all going wrong. I was further away from my dreams than ever before so what did I do?
The permanent cannot be shifted, it continues to exist in an unbeaten form and shall forever be there. When success is permanent, it means that there is no opportunity for it to be stopped or erased - it is eternal. Permanence means forever - therefore, I shall be a strong and dominant force in this company for the foreseeable future, since that all sums me up perfectly. I have only been with the company for a matter of weeks yet have displayed no signs of slowing down or being halted - I am forever. Too audacious? Perhaps - you will soon realize that I am a more brash person - and I have no regrets.
So would you be the first to take me down, exactly? What can you genuinely offer? Well, apart from your egotistical rants mixed in with lack of understanding of others? I will, however, admit that you are offering a far different approach this week and I see a more sincere side to you but I have seen what you're like - you aren't often the most humble of people. Nonetheless, you have shown that you'll bring the fight and that's precisely what I want. I'm a woman who thrives off of pain and suffering. I love it. It's what drives me so it's known that there is nothing that can be done to actually hurt me.
You may think I’m insane but hey! Wouldn’t be the first time and weird works for me. I guess it’ll be interesting though. I mean two teams of assassins going for the win. But we are going to win, you guys can be talented but we’re hungrier and we’ll always have more to prove.
Maxim, I believe in him. He’s ready; he’s trained enough to know how to get the job done. He knows we’re not settling for last and only for first. It’s going to be sharp and bloody. Sure right now I’m lying in my bed but once my sister’s birthday rolls around…it’s on.
My name is Lucy Seraphina, night’s assassin and, you’re just another target.
