“Social media can be a bitch…”
Dim orange lights in a studio shine down on Maddox as he sits comfortably in a chair alone on the set.
“Chris Madison, a man without a loss in his career as of today is up for one of the biggest tests of his career. I'd like to say that I’m the guy that’s going to end the streak. But, Mark Storm would say the same thing.”
He looks at the camera with a grin on his face and crosses his arms as he leans back in his chair.
“I can’t say that Chris Madison will still be undefeated by the time he meets Mark Storm and I in the squared circle. But…”
He raises his right hand to scratch his chin.
“I did answer an open challenge from Frankie Morrison’s agent through Twitter about a month or so ago.”
He crosses his arms again. Looks away from the camera and clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
“So…even with my Bad Company II involvement in 4CW, people question if I can hold up. How much will there be left inside me to face Madison and Storm in the Fukuoka Kokusai Center?”
Maddox looks back at the camera. He uncrosses his arms and leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees and his chin on the palms of his hands. This makes it hard for him to really speak clearly, but he speaks anyway with barely moving his jaw.
“The issue isn’t going to be what I have left. It won’t be what Mark Storm has left…as he is a busy man himself…and Chris Madison’s 4CW Pride Championship title defense tomorrow isn’t going to matter.”
He looks up toward the ceiling.
“What matters is simple. Taking advantage of opportunities. I know that Mark Storm and Chris Madison both have made their names in this business. What have I done?”
Maddox gives smile as he raises his chin off the palms of his hands.
“Let’s look at that…”
Maddox slaps his knees with both hands and stands up. He starts walking back and forth on the stage. He scratches the back of his head with his right hand. He stops and looks at the camera.
“I started in the Manifest Destiny tournament. My very first match in professional wrestling resulted in a victory. I defeated a man that hated the United States of America. He spoke against fellow countrymen. He spoke against men and women that fought for their families. What did I do? I sent him home.”
Maddox drops his hand to his side and turns to the camera.
“When I reached round two, I faced a man who had been a champion. The thought was that I couldn’t beat a champion. What happened? Hmm? A Television Champion was sent back to where they came from to defend their title in a company they were representing.”
Maddox walks toward the other end of the stage as the camera pans to follow.
“I entered Manifest Destiny to represent a company that I had been assured would do what it took to rise and be recognized. The owner foolishly sold out, and the buyers shut the company down. I lost interest doing something I had no other purpose for being part of.”
Maddox crosses his arms and turns around to walk to the other side of the stage.
“I signed with 4CW, and I’ll admit…I haven’t done so well. You could say my career is a roller coaster. Everyone looks at my victory against Dakota Smith as a fluke. I never claimed to beat the crap out of Dakota Smith. I did something that no one thought I could.”
Maddox turns to the camera and gives a bold stare for a moment before he smiles.
“That would make me the ‘Wild Card’, wouldn’t it?”
Maddox chuckles for a moment. He stops and continues on.
“I’m the least expected to win this match. But, let me tell you something…”
He points to himself with his thumb.
“I came into this business and made a name for myself reaching the Sweet Sixteen in Manifest Destiny. I defeated a former 4CW Champion. I opened some eyes in this business in less than three months. Remember that.”
He lowers his arm.
“Yes, Mark Storm is an established wrestler. He’s been an EWC World Champion. He is one of few in this business that took EWC Universal Champion Xplode to the limit. He can make people sweat when they find out they have to face him...”
He wipes his brow with his hand and looks at it.
“Stepping into the ring with Madison and Storm and walking out on my own power isn't going to be an easy task. I know that. And I…am willing to take the risk. But there’s something that Chris Madison and Mark Storm need to consider.”
Maddox lowers his face so that dark shadows fall on his face from his own bone structure as he looks at the camera.
“If you two come into this match thinking that I’m the least expected to win…then, you better have an open mind. I'm coming to win. All it takes is taking advantage of the opportunity, and when you least expect it…I will strike. Doesn't matter if I can walk out of the Fukuoka Kokusai Center on my own power or not…I'm coming out the winner.”
Maddox heads back toward the chair and sits. He looks at the camera, leaning to his left side.
“I’m not just the Wild Card, guys. I'm the guy with pure violence in his heart. When the lights go out, Maddox Lucien is going to be known as the ‘Wild at Heart Anomaly’. I'd suggest you pray for the lights to stay on.”
Maddox snaps his fingers as the orange lights on the stage go out.
