Post by Jack "The Ripper" Tillman on May 7, 2017 12:17:15 GMT
-The taste of puke in my mouth still lingers as I wait patiently to be introduced to the NJFC press. Already drank an entire water bottle but can still taste the hint of puke. You know, for as long as I've been doing this, I still hate talking in front of large crowds like this. It's a little bit worse this time around because Jack is with me and I already know he hates talking in front of crowds. Management wants him around this time to be in front of the press, wants at least one question out of him. I told Jack to let me do most of the talking and that he'll get one easy question. Peeking out the curtain, I see the press start to take pictures as James Peterson makes his way to the center of the stage. JP: "Ladies and Gentlemen! To everyone new to NJFC, my name is James Peterson and I'm glad that you have all showed up. Now we have a large amount of competitors here today so let's get this thing going. First off, I'd like to introduce you to Jack Tillman and his manager Chris Constantine." -That's our que. Jack slowly makes his way out as the flashes of lights hit him first. I follow and I'm blinded for a few seconds from the lights as well. I play it off as I have a casual smile on my face. Jack makes his way to a near by chair as I make my way to the center podium. Alright Chris, time to earn my pay check. CC: "Thank you Mr. Peterson. Now we all know what this Global Takeover is all about. Alright, it's about crowning a new Global Championship. Now the Global Title, it's been held by great wrestlers. Hearst, Johnny Bonecrusher, and the last man to ever hold that belt......Kurt Newman. Now Jack here, he's been trained by Kurt. Only student to pass Kurt's wrestling school with flying colors. Jacks also one of the first wrestlers to graduate from the NJFC Dojo. So.......I already know a lot of guys in the back will and or have already questioned why a 21 year old Jack Tillman, who's made his pro debut in 2017, is even in this match when he hasn't earned an opportunity to hold a title that gives him the opportunity to be the face of a company. And I'd agreed if I were in their shoes. I mean look at the field of competitors. Top Aces in numerous successful wrestling organizations around the world. Proven competitors who have gone through hell and back. Multiple title victories and a history of success. You even have the first ever Global Champion in Devin Hearst trying to regain his title. But I can tell you why he deserves this title opportunity and why he's able to be the face of this company.........it's because he has IT. He's not a sports entertainer like so many wrestlers are these days. He's been trained by the best. He put his time in the NJFC Dojo. He's earned this opportunity because unlike everyone else in this tournament.......he was born from the fires of NJFC..... and from the ashes Jack has been reborn along the side of NJFC.....and like a Phoenix both Jack and NJFC will blaze a new path to the wrestling world of both dominance and prestige as we rule over everyone with an iron fist and stomp out anyone and everyone that gets in our way." -I pause as I take a sip of water. As I do so, the room fills with hands from different reporters. It's over powering at first as I look around the room, hoping to find a familiar face. And then I see a face from the EWC days. CC: "Shelly Silver! You have a question?" SS: "Chris! It's a loaded tournament, is there anyone that Jack is looking forward to facing? Anyone that he might be hesitant to facing?" CC: "First off Jack isn't afraid of anyone in this tournament. People are going to be coming up here, puffing their chest out and talking about how their going to dominate while lying through their teeth. The only talking that's going to matter at the end of the day is the words of violence in that ring. Now Ricky Valero is Jacks first competitor. I'm not going to stand up here and blow smoke up your ass. Alright the guy has been tearing it up over in FGA and New Kingdom Pro. Dude has a great history in the wrestling organization and Jack is looking forward to facing him in the first round. But Ricky is one concussion away from being brain dead and not being able to be a functional human being. Jack is known for attacking the neck and spine and that's something Ricky doesn't need. As for individuals he hopes to face in the tournament: Owen Gonsalves, Devin Hearst, and Ace King." -The press goes crazy again as they all raise their hands, hoping to get a question out. I'm about to point to a random person, but the crowd stops for some reason. Then out of the corner of my eye, I see Jack pointing at a female reporter. The room looks confused, even the chick as she slowly makes it to her feet. Jack stares at her with a blank stare as she asks her question. It's in Japanese of course and I don't know what she's saying. Something about how his performance will be in the tournament. That our are you wearing socks. The room is silent once again as everyone is looking at Jack, wondering what he's going to say. With a soft and calm voice, Jack leans towards the microphone in front of him and answers the question. JT: "Sō shihai." -The room is surprised as Jack knows Japanese....wait....Jack knows Japanese? With that, Jack stands up and leaves with me following.

Post by Richard Drake on May 7, 2017 23:01:41 GMT
Lights flashing, cameras snapping pictures, New Japan Fighting Championship has a TON of action lined up for the month of May; three nights worth to be exact. With many new stars making their way to Japan, one of them just so happens to be the rather exotic, Richard Drake who has really turned a lot of heads as of late in the wrestling world.
Having arrived earlier today, Richard and his “girlfriend”/co-star of the movie Throbbin’ Hood and the Prince of Beaves II: Invading Rottingham’s forests, Gabrielle Montgomery are seated together on the far left until the podium opens up. Rising to his feet, he situates his leather jacket, straightening it while walking up to the wooden podium with a purpose. Placing his hands on each side of the wooden surface, he stares out at everyone from behind his rose colored sunglasses and begins to speak as all of the Japanese people listen to the interpreter who interprets his every word.
“Good morning everyone and to those who don't understand English, which is probably most of you, Konichiwa!”
Making a friendly hand gesture towards the crowd, they don't seem to recognize who he is but that is to be expected when you’re a rookie in the wrestling world and a famous adult entertainer in the Netherlands. Feeling the silence from the crowd, Richard knows not to take it personally because this is simply how the Japanese are and so with that being said, he continues to speak.
“Thursday, May 18th is going to be a very special day when it comes to the wrestling world. We crown a Global Champion, we get NJFC action but more importantly; we get to see a new crop of men and women take the stage. Now you don't know who I am and I most certainly don't know who you are but I can promise you this…”
Pausing momentarily, he extends his index finger on his right hand to further his point.
“... You WILL know who I am very soon and when you have the privilege of watching me inside the ring? You will be amazed, you will see something that you have never seen before and you will understand, quickly at that that I am the future of this business.
Now I know that many people make that exact same claim, and that is because it's easy to do but the hardest part is actually following through with it. I could stand here and talk to you all day long, telling you what I will do, what I won't do but I'm not going to do that because we have limited time and I’m sure that many of you have questions so let's get down to it.”
Going quiet, he stands there waiting until the first person rises to their feet and begins to ask their question which just so happens to be in Japanese. Turning his head to look at the interpreter, she interprets the question in English so Richard can answer it properly.
“Being so new to the business, how do you think you will fare against a veteran like Vinnie?”
Taking their seat immediately, Richard wastes no time whatsoever and begins to answer the question.
“You know, I have thought about that same question since I first found out that I would be stepping inside the ring against him. Mr. Anderson is no doubt a veteran of this sport, he is true, he is tested and he is arguably one of the toughest man to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots. Now I could stand here and give you the same old cliché response by telling you that I am too quick, he won't catch me, yada yada yada but everyone here knows that is a lie. He will catch me, he will twist me in God knows how many different ways and he will put the hurting on me -- that much is a guarantee but the one thing he won't be doing is leaving with a victory under his belt.
Yeah, I know, he will turn around and say the exact same thing about me which is to be expected so I don't really expect for many people to take what I say seriously because what I say right now is nothing more than words and unfortunately, being a fresh faced rookie means that I have no choice but to prove myself before anyone will take my word on what I say.
Quite frankly? I’m perfectly fine with that because I could stand here and make all kinds of jokes about Mr. Anderson being old, washed up, a has-been, but all of those things would be lies and I'm not that kind of person.”
Shaking his head from side to side, the next person rises to their feet, specifically a young woman as she asks her question in broken English but enough where Richard can understand it.
“How have Japan treat you so far?”
With a friendly smile on her face, she takes her seat as Richard answers her question.
“I haven't been here too long but everyone has been pretty friendly. I noticed that you guys really love what we do, you love what wrestling is all about and I won't deny: this is the greatest place on earth to wrestle and to learn how to hone your craft and that's exactly what I’m going to do while I’m here.”
Speaking with a sense of humility, it's pretty surprising coming from Richard but then again, he knows when to put on a show for the camera and when to simply be himself. Receiving the queue that he is out of town, he steps back off of the podium and walks back over to his girlfriend taking his seat right next to her.

Post by Bryan Williams on May 8, 2017 20:05:33 GMT
BEEP BEEP
With everyone in place, and the press conference already starting, an odd sight can be seen. Those in the room could already tell something was off, as Bryan Williams was missing. A row of wrestlers lined up on the stage, the 4CW Pride champion was nowhere to be found. That is, of course, until a telepresence robot made it’s way onto the stage. There is a buzz in the room, mostly of confusion, as this robot clumsily makes it way across the stage. It bumps into the table, Bryan can be seen on the screen concentrating. Bryan: “Goddamn ...piece of shit.”Focused on fixing his view, Bryan finally gets the robot where it needs to be. Center of the stage, in front of the press and reporters all lined up for the event today. Unfortunately the robot is facing the opposite direction. Bryan: “That’s no good, I can see everyone except the press. One second!”The robot slowly turns, the sound of cameras snapping photos and the low hum of the robot’s motor being the only noises in the room. Finally, after what seems like many minutes, Bryan is face to face with the Japanese press. Well, theoretically face to face. It’s his face on a screen, so he’s not physically there. You get the idea though. Bryan: “Hello everyone! It is I, the current 4CW pride champion ...and runner up in the Two Thousand and Sixteen TAG-TEAM-TROPOLIS!”There is some murmuring, from the press and the wrestlers on stage. Bryan pushes through it, talking without waiting for anyone to stop. Bryan: “I’m glad to see you all here today, unfortunately I could not be there in person. I have a show in Oakland in a few hours, time just wasn’t on my side this time. That’s okay, because I have this nifty device instead! I won’t be taking any questions, the latency is far too terrible. I have also turned off any sound, so I don’t know if anyone is talking right now. Better for me, I won’t get distracted!”The members of the press look on in confusion, as Bryan continues to speak. Bryan: “I have prepared a list of questions that I figure you would all ask, so I will go through and answer them now. Not like there’s any real difference either way!”Bryan reaches off camera, grabbing a glass of water. He takes a sip, and clears his throat. Bryan: “Okay, first off. I am happy to be back in New Japan, despite the experience at the Tag Team Triopolis. I feel like we have all grown, so I’m looking forward to becoming the next Global champion. Global Takeover is a big event, and deserves a lot of attention. I look through the roster of people in this tournament, and I see some names. Most I don’t recognize, but a few I do.
I’m not really anticipating a match up, or looking forward with fighting anyone. I was presented an opportunity, not a chance to have a dream match. I won’t waste time on that, hoping that I get somebody I really want to wrestle. I’ll focus on myself, and getting through this tournament. Three days is tough, but I’ve been through worse here. A month of wrestling in a tag team tournament will do that to you.”Bryan pauses, ignoring the questions the press are already throwing his way. Once again, he’s had them muted for some time now. Bryan: “I feel prepared for this tournament, I had a chance to show my skills last year. That was a little preview though, because this is where the real test comes. I get a chance to give this company a champion they deserve. A champion that will give them global recognition, who will live up to the name. I’ve already proven myself to rise to the occasion, becoming a two time 4CW Pride champion.
Something nobody in this tournament can lay a claim to, nobody can say they’ve been battle tested like me. They might all talk a big game, but I’m the one here that can back it up. I have the credentials, I have the proven history. I step into that ring on the sixteenth, and for three days I will show everyone exactly what I mean.”By now the press has already figured it out, Bryan won’t be responding to them. Instead they grow quiet, as he finishes up talking. Bryan: “Be prepared, everyone. You may have high hopes, lofty ambitions about big dreams. I can tell you right now that you’re all about to fall short. Fifteen others will try to accomplish their goals, they will attempt to win this tournament. Only one knows, only one can do what these others will fail at.
There is no trying for me, no attempt at becoming great. I only get into that ring to do something. Once I’m set out on finishing up a goal, there’s no stopping me. The only reason why I’m not one half of the NJFC Tag Team champions is because there was a third team in that match. A third team that lost. My ambitions are high, and my results are what dreams are made of. You’ll be seeing that soon enough. Bryan Williams will be your new Global champion, see you all in person in Osaka.”With that Bryan is finished. The screen shuts off, as the robot slowly turns around again. The room grows quiet, watching it slowly move off stage. It takes a moment, but the questions start up once again for somebody else.

Post by Ace King on May 9, 2017 22:02:10 GMT
Camera bulbs flash as Ace King makes his way to the dais, looking much more focused and tense than he did in his previous appearance. He sets his EWC Television Championship on the table and takes a seat, then peers out to the press. “Fire away, folks,” he says, grabbing his water bottle and taking a gulp. As he swallows the water and takes a breath, the first reporter pushes his way to the front, microphone in hand. “Yutaka Tomei, Sportskeeda,” he says, clearing his throat. “Ace, you Tweeted about NJFC putting you and Devin Hearst in the same bracket for Global Takeover. Can you elaborate on your thought process?” “Didn’t Tokyo speak for itself?” Ace responds bluntly. “I hope NJFC realizes just how much money they’ve left on the table by not separating us. We beat each other up for half an hour, and although he won that night, our match stole the show, no matter what the Match of the Night voters believe. Everyone here is strong, but it’s an unfortunate draw, from that perspective.”Ace looks calmly out at the press, who are all scrambling for microphones. Eventually, a familiar face from his last press conference stands up. “Ai Ngata-Ho, Gaora TV,” she says, tucking her hair behind her ear. “What would it take for you to beat Devin Hearst in a possible semifinal?”“Beating two other people first,” Ace responds with an annoyed tone. “Look, any one of us can win, so I can’t look that far ahead. Otaki’s fought some of the best this business has ever seen, and she hung in there, so I could be a first-round casualty. I don’t plan to let that happen, but I’m not taking her, Anastasia, Toshikazu, or anyone else lightly.”“But you do want the rematch, right?” Ai inquires. Ace takes a deep breath and another drink before gruffly answering “I need it.”Murmurs permeate the gallery as Ace’s eyes narrow; he bows his head momentarily before returning his gaze to the press. “This is the last I’ll say about him here,” he begins, still annoyed at the questioning. “Full credit: He beat me in Tokyo. It stings, I won’t lie. While some will say get over it, I choose to learn from it. I’m as adaptable a wrestler as anyone, and even though I lost, I stood and took his best shot. I got knocked down, but as you can see, I got back up. I’ve been in the fire now, and I understand how deep I have to dig to beat him and ultimately become the NJFC Global Champion.”He looks at the championship sitting to his left; the press once again scrambles for microphones until a portly gentleman steps forward. “Yu Watanabe, TXN,” he says, adjusting his glasses. “You start Global Takeover against fellow EWC competitor Otaki. What do you see as her biggest strength and weakness?”“I’ve never wrestled Megan before, so this is all observation,” Ace answers with a nod. “Her biggest strength is perseverance; you don’t win EWC’s Rumble in the Bronx without it. She couldn’t parlay it into the Undisputed Championship, but you can’t begrudge her given she was facing Jaden Hunter and Ashton Drake, wrestling’s two biggest behemoths. She’s never out of a match, and it’s something I respect and identify with. Her weakness?”Ace pauses for a drink, thinking carefully about his answer. “Consistency,” he says bluntly. “She’ll say it herself, so it’s not a pot shot. I don’t know if Wrestlefest sent her downward, but she hasn’t won in a bit. Now, that doesn’t mean anything once the bell rings, so it’s about staying locked on target. The tape says one thing, but I’m going to Fresno to watch her on FSW and form a game plan. I can’t and won’t leave any stone unturned, because she’s the most unpredictable wrestler in the tournament, and I’ll be ready.”NJFC handlers take the microphone, and they hand it to another familiar face. However, as the man is about to speak, a woman dressed like Sailor Moon storms the dais, getting in Ace’s face and grabbing his water bottle. “Anata wa tawagoto!” she screams, throwing the water in his face. Two security guards immediately subdue her and escort her from the gallery. A handler quickly grabs a towel for Ace, and as he dries off, his expression is level. “What did she say?” he asks, still puzzled and shaken by what’s transpired. The gallery murmurs within itself, but it’s Shelley Silver who grabs a microphone. “It means ‘You piece of shit,’” she says, frowning. Ace cocks an eyebrow and scratches his head, then exhales. “Not sure what I did to deserve that,” he says with a shrug. “But, I suppose it means I have to be ready for anything.”The media murmurs again as Ace regroups; the reporter who previously had a question stands up again, looking slightly apologetic. “Jimmy Tanaka, Samurai! TV,” he begins, nodding at Ace. “First off, sorry you had to experience that. Now, who on the other side of the bracket do you see as a threat?”“Jack Tillman,” Ace says without hesitation. “It’s a shame he left EWC before we could fight, but he’s got a unique style, and he’s beloved as a Dojo graduate. He’s a bare bones wrestler who can break bones like nothing, so he’s someone to watch.”Ace pauses for water before continuing. “The rest, I don’t know too well, though word travels. Owen Gonsalves impressed me in Tokyo, then you hear about guys like Bryan Williams and James Edwards… But you can put anyone in front of me, and the result won’t change. Like I said, I respect the Japanese wrestling scene immensely, but I didn’t come for the experience or an appearance fee. I’m here to become the NJFC Global Champion. Bet On It.”Ace taps the championship before picking up his own and leaving, with a few reporters in hot pursuit.

Post by ヒロヨシ・スズキ on May 9, 2017 22:17:14 GMT
**Delivered in Japanese.** Coming out the a warm reception was the self proclaimed "Master of Perfection", Hiroyoshi Suzuki, who wasn't shying away from the attention, raising his hand and waving to those in the press room as he walked across the stage with a smile on his face. Wearing a black suit and tie, he walked up to the podium and cemented his hands down on it's side, clearing his throat whilst he patiently waited for the applause to die down a little. Hiroyoshi Suzuki: Thank you. He spoke in his native language, to the delight of the interviewers in the room who applauded again. Finally, a native among them. He laughed, allowing the applause to ring through the press conference room. Hiroyoshi Suzuki: It's an honor to be here, back in New Japan Fighting Championship, perhaps the biggest promotion in Japan right now. I'm glad to be apart of this promotion and I'm excited for the future that we have together. Finishing his sentence, an array of arms shot up within the press conference room, to the delight of Hiroyoshi who now had the power to pick who's questions he was going to answer first. Hiroyoshi Suzuki: Yes. He pointed at a man standing in the front of the crowd. Takeda Onita: Hiroyoshi, it is a pleasure. I am Tekeda Onita here on behalf of Tokyo Sports. My question for you is, what do you expect from the Global Takeover championship tournament event? It's an event that's already captured the eyes of all wrestling watchers, what are you expecting personally? Thinking to himself, there was a moment of silence before Hiroyoshi regained his concentration and answered Takeda. Hiroyoshi Suzuki: Look at the names Takeda. They speak for themselves. That's how much this company has grown. It's attracting talent on a global scale now, and I encourage, I invite the challenge. Because I know, that if I want to get better then I'm going to have to compete with the gaijan competitors who want to make the step to Japan. They're not here because it's a free holiday. They're here because they admire our art, our style, our approach and they want to endure that, really experience that. But honestly, I'm excited for the prospects of facing a number of talents if I am to make it through the first round but I know that may be very trick in itself. He remained cool, calm and composed. His humble demeanor souring through the room and respect was given to him because of that. Shelley Silver: Hiroyoshi! She spoke in English, it was Shelley Silver, who Hiroyoshi was familiar with, being a friend of Mark Storm. He nodded his head and with a smile and a gesture of his hand, urged her to continue. Shelley Silver: Continuing on that note. First round, you're up against Owen Gonsalves. At A New Hope, Gonsalves was part of the match of the night and also elevated himself to another level of hype within NJFC. How do you think you'll fair against him, is there any doubts in your mind? Hiroyoshi Suzuki: Never. I do not doubt my abilities. Never have, and never will. I am aware that Owen Gonsalves is a competitor who has garnered quite the following, deserved, of course. And he's abilities inside the ring, I don't doubt that either. I know, that ultimately, this is going to be a tough match. I know that ultimately, he is going to push me to my limits because that's what Owen Gonsalves does. He managed to do it against "Mayhem" Chris Madison with a number of doubters. And he'll push me, too. I believe he is destined for a great career here. But is his time now? Is this, his moment of clarity? I believe not. I believe that my moment, is now. I believe that I am, destined for greatness, on a global scale, right now at this moment. Countless amounts of hours in the dojo have led to this. And I'm not, going to give that away. Applause rang through once more and he came to a pause, nodding his head in appreciation. Rachel Kenshin: Hiroyoshi, what's the gameplan? What's going to win you the NJFC Global Championship? Hiroyoshi Suzuki: My gameplan, is my style. I am the master of perfection. I perfected my craft, went away when necessary because there was a lot I needed to work on, a lot that needed to improve and a lot that I wasn't proud of. But I come back a new man. Someone who's grown bigger, faster, stronger.. and better. My gameplan is going into every match with the same mentality, that I'm going to win. That I'm going to out wrestle my opponent and show them, that I'm someone who has this promotion in his grasp. I strive for perfection, Rachel. In everything I do. He took a step away from the podium. Hiroyoshi Suzuki: Thank you for your time. Before making his way off the stage, to a round of applause.

Post by Craig Anderson on May 10, 2017 0:43:08 GMT
Craig Anderson walks out in front of the flashing cameras, waving his right hand in the air as he does so. Carefully, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out three rich tea biscuits. He quickly stuffs them into his mouth, hoping nobody would notice. He takes a seat at the podium, as he loosens his tie slightly.
Craig: "It's been a while since I've worn one of these things!"
Biscuit crumbs drop into his lap as he speaks, his words muffled. He peers out to the crowd of reporters, most of which being Japanese.
Craig: Konbanwa!
Craig takes a sizable gulp, making sure to clear his throat of any leftover biscuits. He pauses awkwardly, left to hope that he used the correct greeting.
Craig: "I apologise. That's just about the only Japanese you're going to get out of me. I can't even say my own name. Which I guess begs the question: what am I doing here? Why Japan? Why now?"
There is some slight murmuring amongst the press, some even starting to type on their laptops.
Craig: "I'm here because I want to compete against the very best in this business. To do that, I have to step out of my comfort zone. I have to go to places I've never been before. For the past few months, I've been extremely fortunate to be able to experience the Australian wrestling scene. But for some reason, I've never been here. The Japanese wrestling scene is like no other. Here, professional wrestling is treated with the respect it truly deserves. Each and every one of the men and women here tonight - and those who unfortunately couldn't be here - will be doing everything they can to put on the best show possible, and I can't think of a better place to do it. They say there's no place like home. Well... Japan's pretty darn close!"
Craig takes a brief pause for a sip of water, but remains calm and collected throughout. Even with all the cameras pointing at him.
Craig: "I'm assuming some of you have got a few questions. At least, I hope so. It'd be a bit awkward if not."
Almost right on cue, a multitude of hands shoot up. Craig examines the options, before selecting a young woman seated on the third row.
"Hi. I'm Susan Johnson, representing Sky Sports. You've already said why you wanted to come to Australia, but why did you enter the Global Championship tournament?"
Craig ponders on the question for a few short moments, tapping the top of his water bottle against his chin.
Craig: "Again, it all comes back to wanting to face off against the greatest competition in the world. With a name like Global Takeover, you'd certainly be inclined to think it at least features a reasonable sample. Just look at the competitors sitting alongside me. We're all here on merit. Nobody is here to make up the numbers. There are athletes here from all over the world. The United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, obviously Japan... and that's to name a few. I know it's all a bit cliche, but I'm genuinely happy to be here."
As he finishes speaking, he once again examines the crowd of reports, before pointing to a hand just two rows further back.
"Excuse me, Craig. Does it concern you that, unlike some of the other competitors in this tournament, you are relatively unknown in this country?"
A smirk appears on Craig's lips, and he enjoys a silent chuckle. He turns to look at each and every one of his fellow competitors, before turning back towards the cameras.
Craig: "Honestly, it doesn't faze me in the slightest. I've never been the biggest star, and I don't expect to be given a hero's welcome whenever I enter a new country. But I'm young, I'm learning more and more with each passing match. Already, I've worked with some tremendous wrestlers. I may be unknown right know, but trust me. By the end of this tournament, the New Japan audience will know EXACTLY who I am."
Craig's noticeable confidence fills the room, almost as though it was contagious. Before he could select another hand, a reporter spoke.
"Your first opponent is Takashi Shinobu, a man who is very popular in Japan. How much of a home field advantage do you think he will have?"
Craig: "Obviously it's going to play a factor, as is his considerably greater experience. But here's the thing. Both of us are second-generation wrestlers. We have wrestling in our blood. Maybe Takashi does have the advantage going into this, but I'm more than okay with playing the role of the underdog. I'm at my best when nothing is expected of me, and I think it's fair to say that I won't be the odds-on favourite to win this entire thing. But neither were Leicester City, and they achieved the impossible. Stranger things have happened, so you'd be a fool to write me off."
Craig claps his hands together, before pointing to a man on the back row. However, upon realising who it is, he quickly tries to point elsewhere.
Braeden Corbett: "HELLO!"
Braeden stands up with a huge grin on his face, clearly ready to ask a question. He clears his throat before he speaks, not wanting to stutter during his big moment.
Craig: "Oh, would you look at that. I'm afraid that's all the time I've got, folks. But I look forward to seeing you all again on the seventeenth, at Global Takeover."
Craig sits back slightly, allowing the next competitor to take their place in front of the press.

Post by toshikazu on May 10, 2017 5:35:14 GMT
As the press conference commences Toshikazu finally makes his way out onto the stage with the other along with his servant and translator Sum Ting Wong. The two take a seat next to one another as they listen to the others speak. Toshikazu seems to be amused by the others with their colorful personalities while listening to them. Once Craig Anderson was finished talking the reporters turn their attentions to the deity that will be making his New Japan Fighting Championship debut in the Global Takeover Tournament.
Shelley Silver Toshikazu! What a delight it is to finally have you here in New Japan Fighting Championship! I think I speak for everyone when I say it is an honor to be in your presence and to be able to see you compete in this upcoming tournament.
Toshikazu nods to her acknowledging her and the others admiration of him.
Shelley Silver Can you tell us why it is you have came to NJFC?
The deity stares at her as Wong nods listening to his master.
Sum Ting Wong Just as any other time you all have seen him in other wrestling promotions, he is here to compete and enjoy his time here on earth. Toshikazu wants to help entertain the very souls he fights to protect in any way possible. It is his honor to be able to take this human form in order to do so. You may be honored to be in his presence but it is he who is honored to be welcomed by the world.
Rachel Kenshin The last time we seen you, Toshikazu you were being tossed out of a ring from behind in DIVINE Japan Rumble to determine who would represent Japan in the World Crown Syndicate World Cup. And before that yourself and the other two members of the Crusaders came short of winning this year’s SSWA Titan of Trios Tournament. What are you expectations for this tournament? Do you plan on winning the whole thing this time around and redeeming yourself for those past unexpected losses?
Toshikazu laughs at this as well as Wong.
Sum Ting Wong Toshikazu does not care about wins or losses. In this realm and inside his human form he is only here to enjoy himself. Fun. Fun is the word he has been centering himself around as of late. This is all an learning experience for him. Performing inside of a wrestling ring is much different than years ago when he took form as a samurai and fought to protect the people of Japan and the world. He sees the fun you all have doing it and have watching it. He understands the entertainment that comes from it and he wants nothing more than to be apart of this new found art of competition.
Rachel nods as she turns to look over to Shelley.
Shelley Silver When you are not in this form...Well gosh I hope I’m not intruding. What are the form of.
Toshikazu looks around seeing that everyone wanted to know the answer to this. He nods to himself as he begins to speak through Wong.
Sum Ting Wong I am a spirit. I look over Japan. Watching you all enjoy the lives that you live. I watch as you all tear each and one another down but I also see you all bring each other up. I witness the beauty of humanity from the beyond. I am with you all always.
Shelley Silver Will you ever take form of---
Sum Ting Wong Only if it permits it Toshikazu will take his true form. His father and other evil dragon spirits who wish to terrorize the human specials have not opposed a threat in some time. As long as Toshikazu is here to protect us, we may not fear.
Rachel Kenshin Okay back to the tournament...Excuse my collegue please, Toshikazu. You are replacing the injured Ryuu Kazuhiko and are set to face Anastasia. What are your thoughts going into this match?
Wong nods as he listens to his master.
Sum Ting Wong He’s excited. He knows Anastasia will present a challenge and he cannot wait to step into the ring with her to see how much of a challenge she truly presents.
Rachel Kenshin Is there anyone in the tournament you’d like to go up against if you were to advance?
Toshikazu shakes his head.
Sum Ting Wong It doesn’t matter who he faces. He is welcoming the challenge from whoever and all that set before him to go up against. Though, he is looking for someone who he can press the limits of this current human form.
Shelley Silver Last question, Toshikazu. What would it mean to you if you were to become the NJFC Global Champion?
Toshikazu takes a moment to answer.
Sum Ting Wong Championships. Medals. Trophies. The prizes of competition. Toshikazu already has the ultimate prize...And that’s the victory over his father for the lives of Japan. To become this company’s Global Champion would be a great honor to him. Truly. But it also he isn’t exactly striving for. As I said before Toshikazu is here to have as much fun as possible and compete with the likes of you all. Win or lose, this a fun time for him. But if he were to become champion, he hopes to represent this company as well as he possibly could as its champion and will welcome nothing but the best of challengers.

Post by Anastasia Hayden on May 10, 2017 6:29:53 GMT
As one wrestler leaves behind reporters writing down notes from the previous statements, another one comes into the sea of clicks and snaps from the camera crews. As Anastasia Hayden steps up to the podium, she pulls down the hood of her sweatshirt and looks around the room, looking less than thrilled to be back in Japan for a third time in her career. Her previous ventures in Japan had its ups and downs perhaps due to inexperience, but a more seasoned Hayden looks focused and locked into the upcoming tournament.
"I'm not here to waste my time, so let's get this going, I guess."
As the reporters start fighting for the opportunity to speak, NJFC's own Shelley Silver is the first to break through the crowd and is the lone one standing as she asks her first question
"Anastasia, how does it feel to be back in Japan?"
Ana looks at Shelley for a few seconds, as if she were waiting for something, but instead, there was only an awkward silence.
"Ana?"
"Next question."
Dejected by the lack of a response, Shelley takes her seat. There's more ruckus as other reporters try to chirp in before a man in glasses speaks up
"Kouta Hisakawa from All-Japan Sports, your last tournament here in Japan saw you leave in defeat, do you believe your experience since then will help your odds?"
As Ana listens to the English translator, her facial expressions stay the same: Bored and uninterested.
"Do you guys ask everyone else this drivel or am I just that unfortunate? Let me go ahead and clear up the notion that my last tournament run didn't end in a 'defeat'. Terry and I didn't walk away with the titles in our hands, but we prevented others from reaching the belts. And that's all that matters to me this go around."
Kouta sits back down and another reporter stands, but as she begins to speak, Ana puts her hand out toward the journalist
"Go ahead and stop right there. I didn't fly all the way out to Japan to listen to you idiots struggle to put together a question that doesn't insult me as a wrestler. Since I'm so used to carrying everyone else, I'll go ahead and ask the questions. Now, let's begin, shall we?"
The female reporter sits down as Ana clears her throat and speaks out in a voice that's only slightly different from her own
"Ana, if you're not interested in winning a championship, why are you involved in the tournament for the NJFC Global Championship?"
"Fair question. Like I previously stated, I didn't care that Terry and myself left Tokyo without the GPC World Tag Team Championships. Just like I won't care if I leave Osaka without the Global Championship. If you've paid attention to anything in the wrestling world, you'd know that I've proven myself to be one of the greatest and hardest working wrestlers alive today. So why burden myself with a golden paperweight?"
"And secondly, I came all the way to Osaka to embarrass everyone else in the running for this title. They want it so badly? I'll make them work for it. And if they fail, I'll just take it home and dump it in the trash with the rest of the belts I've collected. When I make it past the first round, I'll be content cause that means I've ripped away that little validation that so many of these 'professionals' need. Next question please."
She smirks, patting herself on her shoulder before speaking up in the voice from before
"Miss Hayden, in the event that you do win because everyone else isn't as great as you, will you come back to Japan to defend your championship?"
Putting her hand up to her chin, Ana mockingly ponders her own question for a few seconds before simply shrugging her shoulders.
"Of course not. Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly come back to Japan at any time to fight...but I'm not going to let the championship get top billing over me. So if I do decide I want to win the tournament, I'll gladly hand the Global Championship right back to them. I don't need it to know I'm the best wrestler in NJFC and if someone beats me, hell, give it to them."
As she spoke, her mocking nature fell to the back for a moment as the focused look returned
"Everyone in this tournament is going to showcase a lot of 'honor' and 'heart' while chasing a meaningless material object...then I'll be the one to rip it away from them. I'll be the one to show them that they're a disgrace to wrestling. And if my words trigger someone bad enough, I welcome it. I want a fight, but as long as your eyes on locked in on a title...you're never ready for a true fight. And that's fine. When I send someone's face through the ring canvas...maybe that'll be the wake-up call."
And like that, she shrugged her shoulders yet again and scoffed
"But who am I kidding? These pathetic pricks are all focused on one thing. They want to become complacent little champions? Let them. I'll live up to the name so many of these try-hards are desperate to be...I'll be a warrior. Each round of this tournament, I'll fight tooth and nail, I'll shed blood and I'll make others bleed...I'm not out here trying to win, I'm out here trying to end dreams, hopes, and more importantly, careers."
Feeling her question was answered, she let the silence take over for a seconds before nodding; satisfied with her own reporting abilities.
"That's all the questions and answers I've got. I'll see these pussies at Global Takeover."
With that, Ana gave a nonchalant "shaka brah" hand gesture before putting her hood back on and leaving the press conference room.

Post by Hearst on May 10, 2017 15:24:39 GMT
The rumbling of the conference room was reminiscent of swarm of bees, buzzing and pulsating with whispers and rumination. There are words in Japanese and in English alongside a few smatterings of other dialects from around the world. Truly, this was an occasion to be witnessed on a global scale. Out of all the words spoken, though, one comes in a voice whispered, yet clear like it had been hissed right into our ears whether in that room, or watching from a screen millions of miles away.
“Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep………………….”
At home, though terrified, we remain steadfast. Those in Japan would find no such luck, as one by one the eyes of the press and beyond became heavy. Heavy like storming rain or cement shoes, and like the dominoes that they are each head falls still. Some fall from their chairs, collapsing and resting upon the floor; some slumping down into heaps of bad suits and lost opportunities. With a swift and jarring thwack, the camera from which we view this witchcraft slams into the ground; the feet of the sleeping cameraman in our now static view. The still picture lingers for one second, and then another. With a twitch that shakes us to our hearts, the camera is lifted and turned. What peers down is a thing unknown, but the white mask that covers its face brings about the absolute worst thought. As it turns the camera back to the stage, and to the dozens of other masked, suited figures that now stand like crows perched above their next meal, the figure that stood at their head confirmed those dreads to be true.
Devin Hearst has arrived.
With a microphone in one hand, Hearst took a drag from the cigarette in the other, letting the ash baptize his lungs into the black existence the rest of him lived in. As he let the dragon’s breath go, he gazes up into the ceiling, and into the heavens beyond.
“What I find amusing is that when I win this thing you’ll all call it an ‘upset’. One of those story book ‘shocking’ victories that this game loves so much. I wouldn’t expect much else. You humans are such fleeting creatures. You finally catch the ball, chew on it once or twice, and then on to the next. You’re historical sluts just trying to jam as many big memories and ‘I was theres’ into the minutes you have to fester in this world. It’s almost endearing.”
Hearst chuckles, returning again to his cigarette. He lets the smoke crawl out slowly.
“But you’ll forgive me if I don’t let this one slide. See, this has been the problem with the NJFC since I’ve arrived; a lack of respect. When I arrived in Japan I became the alpha; the first. Before all the others came in riding their popularity and catch phrases, I set the standard. Month after month, win after win, I held the New Japan banner up and dropped champions that came here just for a cheap plug and a paycheck. I proved this company was the best … and yet no one brings my name up. I’m the side show. Hell, your website doesn’t even have all of my title defenses on it. I remain the consistent … and yet you, Peterson, keep groveling to these cartoon characters, asking for flips and t-shirt sales. I gave you a chance, man. I gave you a chance.”
Dropping the cigarette and putting it out with his heel, Hearst turned his equally burning glare into the camera.
“But you’ve seem to have forgotten who the fuck I am! I am plague. I am the slow, choking death of every man and woman who turns to the rising sun. You all think she wants you … she doesn’t want you. She never did. I held her first. She is still a part of me.”
Hearst’s eyes close in a fit of ecstasy. Wherever ‘she’, the Global title was, Hearst could sense it.
“She speaks to me, man. I can hear her now and what she wants … is retribution. A reckoning paid in bones and tragedies. For her, man, I’ll pile the bodies to the ceiling. A Tower of Babel constructed from all of you writhing, faceless wretches … and at the top we shall sit together.”
It isn’t clear whether Hearst is smiling to the dreams of holding his championship once again or the thought of the corpse pile, but the serpentine grin was as prominent as ever.
“Let Ace King be my herald. The omen before the storm arrives. Look at that man and know that your personality, your drive, your technical finesse or sad life stories, NONE of it matters! None of it will stand you up when I put my boot through your fucking skull! This tournament is only a formality.”
Hearst leaped down onto the floor, casual stepping closer to the camera.
“The Brahmastra is a weapon forged by the gods. When it fires, all of existence will shrivel and burn. I have the sights set on Japan. At Global Takeover … I pull the trigger …
And I take what’s mine.”
As Hearst passed by, he dug his stare into the camera. It was only a few seconds as he moved past and behind the camera, but as he did, the shock of an empty room found us all. With another thwack, the camera once again fell to the floor. With these ghosts now past, the rumblings and groans of the sleeping press fills the air.
The bad dream had passed.

Post by Takashi Shinobu on May 10, 2017 20:12:41 GMT
Appearing on the screen behind the podium was the picture of Takashi Shinobu, with a series of cheers and applause following as Shinobu took a step out onto the stage and waved to those in the room, bowing with a smile on his face.
James Peterson: Ladies and Gentlemen, Takashi Shinobu!
Shinobu greeted Peterson with a warm embrace, hugging it out before making his way to the podium. Adjusting the microphone to suit his stature, he stood for a while, looking down at the microphone before raising his head to address everyone else in the room. Nervous? That was an understatement. Excitement? Words couldn't even describe how he felt at that moment, standing in front of a host of reporters and wrestling enthusiast.
Takashi Shinobu: Hello everyone! It's great to be here, back here, in New Japan Fighting Championship. And as you can see by those who have already addressed you, we've come back as a collective - bigger, and stronger and it's great to be apart of something so global now. And it really resonates on the card that we have for Global Takeover. It's a global expedition, global stars coming from all over the world to wrestle in the number one wrestling promotion in the world right now.
An arm shot up after Shinobu paused.
Shelley Silver: Takashi, Shelley Silver on behalf of the promotion... you're familiar with the way things are around here, with the fans and with the culture and style of it all, more familiar than others. Do you think you'll be able to use that familiarity as an advantage?
That hadn't even ran through the mind of Takashi initially but it was something that was very true. He'd spent his whole career in Japan, become accustomed to the style and the culture, and of course, the fans.
Takashi Shinobu: It's something that helps, whether it's an advantage, we'll see. Everyone will be bringing their own styles, their own traditions, so it's going to be a very varied event, as we have people from all over the world. I don't think it'll be an advantage being familiar, but then again, people may cope differently in another country, they may feel more pressured or are jet-lagged or something like that. So it's really how the individuals cope with it all, whether they're able to adapt to the fast tempo that I personally, deliver. Whether they'll be able to keep up.
But I know my opponent in the first round mister Craig Anderson, is someone who can keep up. Someone who's abilities are known on a worldwide scale, someone who's been here, there and everywhere. I respect him because of that, respect his accomplishments and I believe he'll be able to match my level of intensity. I've watched his tapes, I know what his strengths and weaknesses are. That's all I have to say on the whole matter.
He'd obviously done his research and heard what Craig had to say, he had respect for him.
Hideo Naito: Takashi, Hideo Naito for Tokyo Sports... of course your intentions are to win the whole thing tonight... but is there anything else you have your mind set on?
Takashi Shinobu: My only focus right now, is the Global championship. With the predecessors, you can argue that it is the most prestige championship in this promotion. An openweight division, inviting talent from all over the world to challenge for the championship belt. Held by Kurt Newman, Johnny Bonecrusher and of course, Devin Hearst who is competing tonight. They're tough names to follow of course, but I believe that I can follow in their footsteps.
The most obvious assumption would be the FIGHTING Junior Heavyweight division. A division that is growing and James has expressed in continuing to expand the division. That's where my weight lies, so I'll fight within the constrictions and do my up-most best to serve the division as well as I possibly can. But right now, I have a tunnel vision, I'm fixated on the tournament that commences next week. It's going to be a momentous occasion, you can be sure about that.
He was comfortable, grown as an individual as the questions continued to come in.
Rachel Kenshin: On behalf of NJFC, Rachel Kenshin... Takashi, do you see yourself as some what of an underdog tonight?
He was caught off-guard, not really expecting such a question to be posed.
Takashi Shinobu: I think deep down, at heart... I've always been an underdog. I think it's the role that I've become accustomed to, and labeled as on countless occasions.. so yeah, I guess in many ways I do see myself as the underdog. But so does Craig, so what this first round match promises to be is an excited one between two determined competitors who are out to prove a point. I think we could quite easily be a standout for the whole show and I say that with confidence.

Post by Vinnie Lloyd Anderson on May 10, 2017 21:29:03 GMT
The old man was back in familiar territory, that of Japan of course and he felt at peace with the world at last. He'd been watching what everyone was saying with careful eyes, analyzing their speech, focused on their behaviors as well as the dialogue. Despite not being involved in the championship tournament, he found the whole concept of it rather exciting and it kept him optimistic, of future opportunities that may arise upon the horizon. But now it was his time to be put under the clock, and with a sigh, he took a step out from the back and emerged on the stage, he sweaty palms hidden in his trouser pockets and he done well to look calm and composed when in actual fact, he was the opposite of that.
The older timer was met with a warm reception and that soothed him a little. It'd been a while since he'd last done one of these press conferences so naturally he was reserved, trying to bottle up his emotions and keep them away. He was terrified and excited at the same time but his exterior wouldn't allow those in the room to see that. What they saw is a man who had his shit together. A man who was a seasoned veteran with years of knowledge. A man who was cool, calm and collective.
Clearing his throat, he looked at everyone in the room and smiled.
Vinnie Lloyd Anderson: Kon'nichiwa. Koko ni iru no wa tanoshī kotodesu. (Hello. It is a pleasure to be here.)
They were impressed but not surprised with his knowledge of the native language, because of course, Vinnie had done this gig in Japan far too often in the past.
Vinnie Lloyd Anderson: I'd like to first and foremost thank James Peterson for providing me with an opportunity to compete here in New Japan Fighting Championship. I was surprised at the offer. I've been retired for quite some time now so you can imagine, getting offers from such a promotion would stun a man, and it did. But this place, Japan... it holds so much history in my career, so much; honor and pride, whenever I think about this nation. So when another opportunity to wrestle here was put on the table, I was hesitant I'll admit.
Due to the fact I didn't want to tarnish the relationship I already have with this nation, I didn't want to jeopardize a well documented career I had here. But then it dawned on me, despite accomplishing so much here there's one title that hasn't been placed upon me. And that's, "the best." I've never been labeled as the best despite knowing that deep down, I am very good at what I do and have been very good for the last twenty years. I was the guy who was often overlooked, or underrated, or just underestimated. I comeback to try rewrite that. I come back with the intention of cementing my name in the wrestling archives, as the best.
A career defined by his technicality of the profession but despite that, was never considered as one of the great. He paused as applause rang through the room and he humbly smiled, licking his dry lips.
Vinnie Lloyd Anderson: Global Takeover is round the corner and I've got my first match against an up and comer who has already addressed you all. Someone who's young and evidently passionate. Someone who hasn't been around for that long but he's got a skill set that suits him and only him, a daredevil some may say and I've faced a number of those throughout my illustrious career. Someone who's hungry and refuses to leave Osaka without a victory under his belt. Denying me a victory, is his intention. I see a man, who resembles me in my days as a beginner. A man with a lot of potential and has a bright future ahead of him, I have no doubt about that.
But has he got what it takes to step inside the ring with me? Technically, he knows that I beat him. But this profession isn't just about the technicality, it's more than that. He's spontaneous, young, and full of life and of course, this is a young man's sport. But my experience, my knowledge, a concoction of those two is what's going to ensure me a victory at the end of the night. I've been around the block, I've come up against a lot of tough cookies and this, will be another one because he is unpredictable. He is a relative unknown, he's got minimal pressure on his side whilst me, I've got the weight of the world on my shoulders. But I've had the weight of the world on my shoulders for my whole career, so it's normal. I'm calm, I'm ready, and I'm excited on the prospect of putting on one hell of a show for you all. If there's one thing I can promise, is that you'll see a battle between two men who are out for each other. That's a promise. That's going to happen.
Thank you for you time.
With a smile, he descended from the stage and allowed someone else a moment on the spotlight.

Post by James Edwards on May 10, 2017 21:51:17 GMT
The next competitor up on the stage is almost a total unknown to Japanese fans and most mainstream American fans for that matter. However, legions of hardcore "smart fans" will tell you that this fighter is the real deal; they will say that he is a multiple-time champion in several well regarded, boutique independent; he always has ice water in his veins when the big moment arrives.
If he could hear them right now, though, the visibly nervous young man would tell them they are full of shit. His heart beats a mile a minute as the six-second walk from behind the curtain up the stage stairs feels like a millennium. He hopes he doesn't trip.
Before he takes his spot behind the podium, he awkwardly bows to the assembled reporters and then to NJFC management. Instead of chuckles, he hears the rapid-fire click of cameras and is temporarily mesmerized by the hypnotic light of the flash bulbs exploding before him.
He takes a deep breath and assumes his place as the center of attention. Another deep breath. He hopes he will be able to recall the speech he spent the majority of the plane ride over memorizing.
"My name is James Edwards, and I am very honored to be here in Japan, a country where the sport of professional wrestling has a deep, rich history. From the moment I started training to when I signed my first deal with Fight One, all I heard about was how I needed to go to Japan. Many of my colleagues and friends backstages said my fightin' style, demeanor, and beliefs about that fighter should be a sportsmen above all else made it a natural fit. To be honest, I have no idea how true any of that is, but I want to find out, and the Global Takeover tournament is the right place to do. Sixteen of the best fighters from all around the world, including some incredible homegrown talent, makes this the greatest challenge of my career. I look forward to testing my skills and maybe earning a prize on May 18th."
He closes his eyes and imagines himself smiling. So far this is going better than he hoped. A feminine voice snaps him back to reality.
"James, Shelley Silver with New Japan Fighting Championship, most of the competitors we've heard from today have expressed a lack of familiarity with you. Do you take that as a personal slight?"
Ah, a trap question, one he remembers answering several times in the past. He smiles, a bit unnaturally at Shelley.
"Nah. I'm just now getting to the point in my career where I'm fightin' in places that have national TV deals, so I don't expect instant recognition right away. Honestly, everywhere I've gone has been that way. I like being an unknown commodity too; it helps me relax."
Maybe not his best answer or a juicy enough one for Ms. Silver, but it helps him feel like he is settling into a rhythm.
"Speaking of nerves, the consensus in the press pool is that you drew one of the toughest opening round matchups in Bryan Williams, what are your thoughts on that?"
So she is not going to give him any meatballs questions, eh? Well fuck.
"I agree with y'all on that completely. Bryan is damn good at what he does. The man is one of the best tag team wrestlers in the world, and he is just now getting going on his own. The competition level in 4CW is insane, so he is used to having to compete at a high level on a show by show basis. Couple that with the CTE and the fact that he hasn't won a world title ever if I'm correct, he is gonna be a dangerous, driven opponent. I'm gonna need to keep my head clear and pick spots wisely if I wanna put him down."
"What about the rest of your side of the bracket, the so-called "Group of Death?"
"I don't know a lot about my side of the bracket. I've been in the ring with Benny Stevens and Owen Gonzales before. Owen pretty recently and Benny a helluva long time ago in Texas. Having time prepare for guys like that doesn't give you an advantage and potentially having an hour to figure out how I will fight them just doesn't feel fair."
He laughs. Might as well convince everyone watching that he has a little confidence. Meanwhile, Shelley Silver has another question for him.
"What do you think makes you stand out amongst the entire field?"
"I'm a realist. I don't expect to win. I expect to fight and maybe win. That may seem a little defeatist, but I just don't see the point in my showin' my ass by sayin' I'm gonna be the champion. You can't just assume you're better than the person in front of you. A fighter has to focus on what is in front of him, not what is a mile ahead; a one up, one down kind of thing, if any of y'all follow baseball."
Silver sounds content with his answer. The NJFC media liaison signals there is time for one question, and Silver is the only taker.
"What would winning the championship mean to you?"
He answers without thinking.
"If that happens, I'll have won a championship in North American, Europe, and Asia barely two years into my career. Not a lot of people can say they've done that."
And with that, he is finished. He opens his eyes only to realize they were closed the entire time.
Son of a bitch, he thinks as he slinks off the stage, his cheeks sizzling with embarrassment.

Post by シマダミツオ - Mitsuo Shimada on May 10, 2017 22:52:50 GMT
In that moment the world was his.
He'd already made his presence known despite not even competing in his first match yet. That fact was of great satisfaction to Mitsuo Shimada. The whole idea of becoming more than just a man was coming into fruition. Ordinary men don't go after men like Chris Madison but that was something he done, and made clear of his intentions to dismantle him long before their altercation inside the ring.
Eyes were glued on him from all over the room as he took center stage, donning a purple suit with a cap to complete the attire, an unconventional one. But conventional, normal, anything remotely related to those words, he'd never been. He coughed and remained silent afterward. His arms by his side and eyes fixated on the microphone in front of him. He was already known among the native reporters cramped in the room but those from elsewhere, he was relatively knew to them and that's something he was desperate to change. Conquering Japan came first, with the world coming after.
"I am, Mitsuo Shimada." He spoke in his native language, with subtitles appearing underneath. "And this, is now my world."
There was something dark about him, something oddly depressing but those in the room couldn't quit put a finger on it. But then he allowed a smirk to appear upon his lips and it become clear. They were looking at the living embodiment of evil, his eyes flaring up with excitement as he licked his lips and remained calm, biting his lips and placing his hands upon the podium.
"I'm not going to answer your questions, not on my time. You shut up, and you listen, that's all you'll get." murmurs ensued among the reporters and Mitsuo closed his eyes and clenched his fists.
"What did I say? I said - shut up, and listen."
The murmurs quietened and eventually, the room was still.
"New Japan Fighting Championship, welcome to a new age, a brand new era, a new regime. You know who I am. But do you know what I stand for? Do you know why I did what I did? That's the question you all were going to ask. What exactly was I thinking, going after a man so formidable, so universally acclaimed like Chris Madison. Why on earth would you put yourself in a position of having "Mayhem" Chris Madison go after you? Are you crazy? Are you out of your mind?" He laughed to himself. "Some would say that I'm crazy. Some would say that I'm a man who know's what he wants. And what I want is this promotion to be mine. And in short space of time, I've already captured the attention of many, who have already decided that I am the man, the right man - to lead this promotion, to a new level of supremacy. Chris Madison, he's not the man to do it but there's this idea, that he is. There's this, belief among some of you in this very room... that he is the best competitor, in this promotion.
Well, to you idiots who believe that, you're wrong. He's not the right man to lead this promotion to another level. And he's not the best fighter in this promotion. I'm not doubting his ability, whatsoever, believe me - I know that he is a very dangerous man. I know that he's a very skilled man. He's an accomplished man who's been doing this for over a decade now, won countless championships everywhere he's gone. But what irritates me, is how someone; a relative part timer, who has commitments elsewhere, can be heralded as your savior, as the man who main events your shows, and is plastered across the country as the face of this promotion. A part time gaijan, who'll appear every so often, as long as it suits him whilst the little guys, they'll have to work to reach that status. He didn't have to work for it at all, they gave it to him. But I'm going to take it right back.
He allowed himself a moment of calmness, breathing in the air before exhaling.
"I don't hate you, Chris." something that those in the room were surprised to here, "But this idea, that you're the face of this promotion... that's what I hate. And you'll counter argue saying that you're going to appear more often, and that you're here for the long run - but it's all lies. You're a manipulator, you, and that idiot of a manager of yours, you both love to manipulate people. Brainwashing them into believing that you're going to be here for the long run when I know, when things won't go your way, you'll be booking the next ticket out of Japan and back home to the states. Where you can wrestle your soft style American companions on WGN, a network that nobody even bothers to keep up with, I know that and I'm Japanese.
I'm after you, Chris. Whether you decide to come out here and speak for yourself, that's unknown but the likelihood is, you're going to let that idiot manager of yours to do all your talking because you can't even string a couple of sentences together, let alone speak the language. Come out, come out wherever you are and let's play, right here, right now." he looked around for Madison but he wasn't insight, and he sighed. "Nope, still hiding. But they'll be no hiding from me in a weeks time. In a weeks time you'll have to face the devil in the eyes. To beat me, you're going to have to put me down. And to put me down, you're going to have to kill me with your bare hands."

On the stage next was Kento Nagata, a former student of the Dragons of Dojo and a graduate of the 2015 class. It was all smile and waves for Nagata as he came out to the stage, clasping his hands together as he reached the podium and managing to keep his composure.
Nagata: Wow, what a cast we have out here tonight. A lot of talented men and women here in New Japan Fighting Championship and I'm sure they'll be a ton more to come after tonight.
Silver: Kento Nagata, Shelley Silver here for NJFC - you're facing Stacy Jones in your return match here to NJFC, are you familiar with the gaijan?
A couple of days back he'd be lying if he said he was, but by now he'd done enough homework to know Stacy Jones ability wise.
Nagata: I've become familiar, yes. I know the danger that she poses and I know that she comes here with the belief that it's all going to be a hell of an experience, and she's right, wrestling here is an experience as it strengthens you, it hardens you and makes you more mature as a fighter.
Kenshin: You're someone who's trained in the coveted Dragons of Dojo. Yourself and Jack Tillman, do you belief that your training will allow you to have the advantage tonight against Jones?
He nodded his head, weighing up his options as to how to answer.
Nagata: I believe that my training was of top class. Trained by the best, molded by them, a human weapon programmed to torture and to endure unimaginable amounts of pain. I think that our training in the dojo has always got an advantage because we were trained by veterans, legends of the puroresu art who were around when the art first came to form. Stacy Jones, she won't know what to expect from me as I've never appeared in a televised match before. She has minimal homework and little to work with. Me, on the other hand? A google search of her name and a host of matches appears, meaning I get to do my homework, I get to find out her strengths and weaknesses and come up with a game plan. She comes into this match with no game plan because she doesn't know what to expect. What she should expect however, is one of the toughest, most grueling matches she's ever been involved in. But she should also expect a level of respect from my end as I show that to every one of my opponents.
Silver: Don't you think that inexperience in televised matches could play its part?
Laughing to himself, he answered.
Nagata: If you put it that way, then sure. But seriously, the cameras don't concern me. When I'm in that ring, nothing concerns me but the competitor who stands opposite me, the competitor who I'm up against, that's it. My focus is solely on Stacy Jones and I'm sure her focus is on me. She's very good at what she does so I'm expecting a very good match to happen next week at Global Takeover, I think everybody is. We're representing a division, a junior heavyweight division that is about to take off. I'm not sure whether Jones intends to stay in the division due to her involvement in the Pride of Puroresu series, but myself, I'm looking to become the face of the division. And I am prepared to knock anyone down who stands in my way of accomplishing that goal, believe me.
Kenshin: One last question, what are your thoughts on the influx of Gaijan? A lot are opposed, but some invite the challenge, where do you stand?
A smile plastered on his face.
Nagata: The more the merrier. If they want to chill here with the big dogs of Japan, then so be it. They just better be ready and prepared because if they're not, they'll get eaten alive.
