Coming to you from the Wembley Arena here in London England is the first official NJFC press conference of 2016, NJFC presents: Global Takeover. The scene opens up and immediately the sounds of cameras flashing fills the ears of those watching, live on EWC.TV. The camera pans over to the stage and the lights in the room begin to dim as the theme song of this years Global Takeover begins to play, creating a buzz around the press conference room. Emerging from the darkness is the owner of the NJFC; James Peterson, who waves and applauds those in attendance, as they applaud him back.
James Peterson: Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the Global Takeover press conference!!
Applauds reverberate once Peterson finished his sentence, a smile plastered on his face.
James Peterson: Last year we gave you a glimpse of things to come from New Japan Fighting Championship. We hosted, undoubtedly, some of the most chaotic events in professional wrestling of that year. And now we return this year, bigger, better and looking to make a global impact on the wrestling world. We've got some old faces and we've got some new faces who are round the back and let me tell you, they're very excited to answer some of your questions. Introducing first..
At that moment "Tormented" by Tech N9ne begins to play as Flash Davis walks out onto the press conference stage and stakes his place at the podium. The music only plays for about 20 seconds.
Flash: The name is Flash Davis. Before you start asking questions, let me make a couple statements first. I may not be the most known professional wrestler to ever live...yet. I may not be the best professional wrestler to ever grace a wrestling ring...yet. But, that will all come in due time. Back in December, I debuted in the free-view battle royal before Wrestle Fest X-I-I-I began. For those not familiar with Roman Numerals, that's Wrestle Fest 13. I eliminated two others during that match and had my hand in a third elimination. The only one with more individual eliminations than myself ended up winning that battle royal. Battle Royals are about being in the right place at the right time. But, I have something better than that.
Flash pauses and looks across the room at all the journalists.
Flash: Now. Your questions?
Ariel Helwani, a UFC journalist stands up first.
Helwani: Mr. Davis, Ariel Helwani, UFC journalist. Mr. Davis, at this point, we still do not have all the names of those to compete in the New Japan Fighting Championship at Global Takeover Pay-Per-View battle royal from the SSE in Wembley, London, England. How are you going to be able to prepare for that? You yourself are yet announced as one of the contestants.
Flash: Simple, Mr. Helwani. I'm Flash Davis. Regardless whether we know now or won't know who will take part in this thing until two minutes before they come out, I am still going to win. It doesn't matter who it is that walks out to that ring. They're going up and over that top rope. If not because of my doing, then it will be due to being thrown over by someone else. But, at the end. I will be standing alone in that ring. I don't enter this battle royal to make a global impact. I'm going to make a perfect impact and in doing so, become the NJFC Global Champion.
Helwani sits and allows another journalist to ask Flash Davis a question. The next to stand up is David Conn, though focusing mostly on football, David Conn has come to be part of the historic event for the New Japan Fighting Championship.
Conn: David Conn, The Guardian. Mr. Davis. You mentioned earlier that you failed to win at Wrestle Fest XIII and claim that these battle royals are about being in the right place at the right time. You say you have something better than being in the right place at the right time. Can you elaborate on that?
Flash looks at David Conn.
Flash: Mr. Conn. When you look at me, you see a perfect face. You see a perfect smile. You see a perfect physique. There is no flaw in what you see. Alexis Morrison was in the right place at the right time at Wrestle Fest XIII. But, at Global Takeover, I will be in the perfect place at the perfect time. And the only thing that any of the others will be able to do about it is cry about it not being fair afterward.
David Conn nods in gratitude of his question answered and sits down as another stands up.
Keller: Wade Keller, Pro Wrestling Torch. Mr. Flash, you have just began your career as a professional wrestler and you are already making all these claims as you will be known as the best to ever grace the ring. You make many statements about you putting others in the spotlight for the time they are facing you, but you at this moment have only taken part in one match. You still haven't even made your EWC Monday Night Brawl debut against the International Champion, King Flip. Is it safe to say that you are making too many claims prematurely?
Flash: Listen, Mr. Keller. You can say what you want about my claims. But, my claims will be soon be fulfillments. Yeah, I face King Flip at the EWC Monday Night Brawl premiere. I'm facing the International Champ. But, at New Japan Fighting Championship's Global Takeover, Flash Davis goes global. The world will know the name and remember the face as a perfect specimen of what professional wrestling is. I am what makes Professional Wrestling perfect. And, any comment I make will make Pro Wrestling Torch a perfect publication.
Wade Keller sits down and as no one else stands up in time, Flash decides to make his closing statement.
Flash: I want to make this very clear. I don't claim that I will become the NJFC Global Champion because I am facing a bunch of no talent wannabes. That isn't what I am saying. I'm saying that I am going into this battle royal having that little extra something that the others lack. And, yes, how does one prepare for something like this without already knowing who they face? That is indeed a difficult task. However, I am the perfect answer to all your questions of who will come out of this Global Takeover battle royal as the Global Champion. Flash Davis will be crowned as the Global Champion of the New Japan Fighting Championship.
Flash gives that perfect smile before he continues.
Flash: And at Stardom Stefan Raab will wish he were facing someone else as he too knows that I am Flash Davis...and Perfection...Needs Nothing Else.
Flash Davis walks away from the podium as James Peterson approaches to introduce the next contestant for the press conference.
James Peterson: Mr. Davis, thank you for your time. Ah, up next we have one of the latest acquisitions to the EWC's Future Stars of Wrestling league, a somewhat familiar face in NJFC, 'Canada's Greatest Athlete' Johnny Bonecrusher!
Moments later, "Some Things Never Fall" by The Black Halos begins to play, which, last anyone checked, isn't anyone's theme song currently. However, sure enough, the Living Legend himself comes on out, resisting the urge to flex on on knee, because this is Japan, and you don't do that shit over there. Maybe in Hustle or DDT or something, not here. No, he comes out dressed in his one suit, shakes James' hand, and adjusts the mic.
Johnny Bonecrusher: Thank you, Mr. Peterson. Now before I get down to it, I'd like to apologize for dropping the ball with The O last year. I take full responsibility for that entire fiasco. I'm confident, however, if our paths ever cross again, we won't let you all down, trust me.
Now... let's get on with the show! We just heard from Flash Davis, a fellow EWC guy and as humble as they come. Always willing to go the distance for anyone. Selfless. Selfless. But enough about that punk, how about some questions?
Johnny looks around at all the raised hands, and points out some guy in a green shirt.
Johnny Bonecrusher: Green shirt.
<kindly translated from Japanese> Green Shirt: Takahiro Yanagihara from Yomiuri Shimbun here. It's stated that you're here solely for the main event, but what will you do if you survive the battle royal and win the NJFC Global Championship?
Johnny waits for the translator to finish, then inhales deeply and nods.
Johnny Bonecrusher: You're right to be concerned, but rest assured, if I outlast every other participant, I'll represent the company like a real Canadian hero should! I already said, I won't let down the NJFC again, and I meant it. Now, who else?
Once more many hands go up, and Johnny picks out a non-Japanese woman this time, in a conservative black dress.
Johnny Bonecrusher: Black dress.
<kindly translated from Italian> Black Dress: Anna-Maria Ciccone from Corriere della Sera, and I'd like to have your thoughts on your known opponents on January 30.
Johnny Bonecrusher: Well, uh-
Johnny looks around, then gets handed the official Global Takeover poster. He focuses solely on the main event, and feels quite pleased with himself.
Johnny Bonecrusher: The main event. The big time. I've been given a major opportunity one week removed from my official debut in Future Stars of Wrestling. That night you'll get a taste of what to expect at Global Takeover.
So let's get down to it:
First off, we've got this Nurse Kinsley character who looks like The Nightmare Before Christmas' Sally after doing all the drugs. Her mental stability can't be rated with positive integers, and she's associated with not only some group of zombie not-cultists-but-totally-are cultists, but also seems to have made some alliance with Mr. International King Flip?! Like, the very same King Flip who apparently is of sound mind and body?! Okay then. Well, all the same, this is one crazy chick, and it'll be crucial to crush that spider quickly before tossing it out, in case she bites me or something.
Next we have Michael Hunter Jr., who I know absolutely nothing about. I'm going to have to do some research, otherwise he could go all the way! Then again... does he even want to be a professional wrestler in the first place? It seems like he was essentially forced into this business, and if so, his heart isn't going to be in it. I mean, sure, his dad wrestled, but that's only part of what it takes to create a legacy. If you're just not interested, don't forget, we're both in FSW, and I'll be glad to show you what happens to guys who go into this half-assed. Make up your mind quick, Junior.
Then we have Rex Steinsex. A name that really imposes upon itself. It's like, okay, we get it, you worked in porn! You'd wrestle naked if you could! You'd blackjack your opponents with your <redacted> if you could-
Someone rushes up to The Johnny and frantically whispers something.
Johnny Bonecrusher: Oh, sorry! I went too far there. But come on, you can't talk about this guy without stooping to his seedy level. I guess the people like him all right, but if you think that's going to stop me from tossing you over the top rope, you're out of your mind, bub! Just try not to land on your- ne-never mind.
Who else... oh right, Jason... Park... Hunter. No relation to Michael Hunter, well, I don't think so at least. Of course not. We know who he's related to. Anyway, he's the former FSW Champion, and is due for a rematch to the belt that's currently held by Atlas. Will he go into that match as the Global Champion as well? Nope! Sorry, man, I've got all the respect in the world for you, but if I can take you out, that means big things for me back in FSW, whether I win at Global Takeover or not. I'm gunning for the win that night, don't get me wrong, but one's always got to have plan b ready to go. That's my plan b.
And, uh, oh, wow, holy ssshhhh- heh, caught myself there! But man, check out who the last known competitor is! The person who was bumped off of retirement no sooner than it was announced! Ruthless. Aggression. Jason's mom! EWC Hall of Fame-bound Ruthann Park Hunter! Mother and son in the same battle royal, vying for the opportunity to become a champion. They've both tasted gold in the EWC, and they're surely going to not let their relationship get in the way of that. But I'm sorry, R.A., but The Johnny ain't in this to get tossed out.-
But before he can continue, he's interrupted by:
'Fight' by CFO$ hits the sound system and the newest addition to the New Japan Fighting Championship roster Dylan Knight walks out wearing a smart suit for the occasion. He looks across at the talent already seated at the press conference and also looks into the audience filled with reporters and journalists. He takes a seat and grabs a glass of water, taking a sip.
James Peterson: Ladies and gentlemen, please let me introduce our newest talent and making his debut at Global Takeover, Mr. Dylan Knight!!
Dylan Knight: First off, can i just say, what is with all the traffic in this City? Jeez! No wonder it's one of the most polluted cities in the world. Putting that aside i am thrilled to have signed for New Japan Fighting Championship and i want to thank the owner James Peterson for realizing the potential and ability that i have and throwing me into the main event of the show for the NJFC Global Championship. It looks like i've signed for a company with a smart businessmen running things.
Frank Arnold: Dylan, i'm Frank Arnold from the Daily Express. Now we're aware you're a very young talent and you've only had a couple of professional matches in your career. Do you think making you're debut in the main event at such a big event, for such a prestigious championship puts a lot of pressure on you're shoulders?
A smirk appears across the face of the young star.
Dylan Knight: Pressure? Sorry are all you Brits this dumb? There is absolutely no pressure on my shoulders. I'll be one of the youngest competitors going into this match, if not the youngest and i'm making my debut in a Battle Royal for the title. All i see is opportunity, opportunity to become the man, opportunity to make an immediate impact, an opportunity to make history. There's no pressure, because although i'm expecting myself to win this match, i'm sure no one else will be, just because my name isn't out there yet, but i can promise you one thing. Saturday 30th January, my name will be the biggest and most important name in the company after i win the NJFC Global Championship.
Hideki Kato (Translated): Dylan, welcome to England. Once this show is over, what can the Japanese wrestling fans expect of you back home on a monthly basis with New Japan Fighting Championship?
Dylan Knight: I am a pure wrestler. I've based my skills on technical moves and submission holds. I love the art of wrestling and always have done. I'm really excited to head to Japan for future shows because i've never wrestled there, but i've heard stories and have researched and seen a lot of matches and the styles are similar to mine. I just wish this show was in Japan rather than London, but i guess i can't complain because my first show in Japan, i can carry the title with me and no longer will people think of me as a rookie.
Wade Keller: Welcome to London Dylan.
Dylan rolls his eyes at another welcome.
Wade Keller: Wade Keller from Pro Wrestling Torch. Dylan, there are at least seven opponents confirmed for you to face in the Battle Royal, some who have a wealth of experience, not just in this company, but in Extreme Wrestling Corporation and other companies as well. Infact, we have the former EWC Champion in the match, Ruthan Park Hunter. How are you going to go about winning this match, do you have a stragey or do you plan to just take it how it comes?
Dylan Knight: To best honest with you, past achievements, past experiences, they go out the window in this type of match. Ruthan Park Hunter could have won a hundred World titles, but she could be dealing with one or two other opponents and then i could come from behind and just toss her over the top rope. Let me get this straight, i am confident in my ability despite the lack of experience no matter what, but in this match, it's all about intelligence. I'll pick my moments and i'll pick who and when i will eliminate. So the answer to your question is yes, i do have a strategy, but the strategy in this type of match will change as the match goes on.
Wade Keller: Thank you Dylan.
The next man to stand up is the EWC's own famous interviewer, Ace Heart himself.
Ace Heart: Hi Dylan. Ace Heart from Extreme Wrestling Corporation. Dylan welcome to New Japan Fighting Championship. With you signing for EWC's partners, could we soon see you step inside an EWC ring? Brawl, Rampage or FSW?
Dylan Knight: That's a great question Ace, i didn't expect anything less from you. To be honest, the EWC will eventually see me in an EWC ring, which brand and when is up in the air. My focus right now is on Global Takeover and the Golbal title. Yes i one day will sign for EWC, but Japan is somewhere i've always wanted to go wrestle and it's a dream of mine to do it. I'll be watching EWC intently though leading up to Takeover keeping an eye on the opponents in my match who do currently compete on those shows, but for now NJFC is my focus along with other committments i have.
Ace Heart: Well from the EWC, we look forward to seeing you in the future.
Dylan Knight: To follow up on that i am looking to make a name for myself at Takeover and i do plan on winning this match and walking out the champion, so Flash and Johnny and to all the other guys waiting to come out, don't think i'm easy pickings, because i will suplex you out of the ring and you will see the Dead of Knight. New Japan Fighting Championship... IT'S KNIGHT TIME!!!
James Peterson: Dylan Knight everybody.
James Peterson: ...and now, a woman that seems to have puzzled us all. She goes by the name...Adrien.
Adrien walks out onto the stage and sees all the cameras and media waiting to hear her speak. She stands there, timidly before walking up to the podium. After a moment, she speaks.
Adrien: I entered this battle royal at Global Takeover for one reason and one reason only. Take no offense, but it isn't for some title. My only desire is to find answers. Answers that might make sense of all this crap going on in my head. And if that means that a few people have to be removed from a ring in an New Japan Fighting Championship event with the NJFC Global Championship on the line, then so be it.
Adrien looks out amongst the media. A few stand to ask questions, but she continues on.
Adrien: Sit down. I'll answer whatever questions there are for me soon enough. But, I want to make something perfectly clear. These...names from the Extreme Wrestling Corporation and from the Future Stars of Wrestling come together to meet those of the New Japan Fighting Championship wrestling organization to do what? Gain a title? Is that it? That's a shame, because they won't be getting that title. They have to go through me to do it. And, I may not look like it, but I assure them all that I will bring a fight that they've never been prepared for.
Adrien looks at Wade Keller. She looks at Ace Heart. She looks at Eric Compton. The media reps stand again, but Adrien doesn't acknowledge their questions just yet.
Adrien: When you are a champion, the world notices. So, here I am. Going after that title with that in mind for whomever might notice out there that can give me the answers I seek. Now, you may ask whatever it is that you desire to ask me.
Three men stand and one is Wade Keller. She ignores him and nods to the woman behind him.
Clara Williams: Adrien, Clara Williams from Inquirer. As one of the many female competitors in this huge match at Global Takeover, you stand against some of the finest athletes in the wrestling industry. You have no experience in a wrestling ring whatsoever, right?
Adrien: That's correct.
Clara Williams: So, how can you be so sure of yourself? How can you expect to become the Global Champion of the NJFC when everyone else advertised for this battle royal are experienced professional wrestlers?
Adrien: I answer your question with one of my own. When you became a journalist, Ms. Williams, I assume you went to school?
Clara Williams: Of course.
Adrien: So you learned about the career field so that you knew what you were supposed to do.
Clara Williams: Right.
Adrien: By the time it came around, you were somewhat prepared and then you learned more as you went along. Why is that any different in my situation?
Clara Williams: I guess it wouldn't be any different. Except for the fact that you haven't been trained for your profession.
Adrien: You know, you're right. I haven't been trained. But, the point is, what do all those who are in the EWC, FSW and New Japan Fighting Championship do when the inexperienced defeats them all? How are they going to respond to that? Can they handle that mental reality? I don't believe they are prepared for me, Ms. Williams. Whether they admit it or not, they can't figure me out. And that is the advantage I bring to the battle royal. I'm the wild card. I'm the one that they will look at as easy pickings and when they make that mistake, they will get a harsh dose of reality.
Clara Williams gives a smile of approval that her question was answered and sits down. Wade Keller tries to get Adrien's attention again, but she ignore him and turns her eye to another man in a suit.
Eric Compton: Adrien, you and I have spoken before, and I found you to be an extremely intelligent woman. However, I too cannot figure you out. In our brief interview and in this press conference, I watched your composure change. Does Adrien change the moment she hears the bell?
Adrien smirks.
Adrien: We'll see.
Eric Compton: I look forward to seeing you in the Global Takeover Battle Royal, Adrien. I hope you do well.
Adrien: Mr. Compton, I won't just do well. I will win.
Adrien has that blank stare in her eyes as Eric Compton sits down.
Adrien: Anyone else?
Wade Keller: Adrien, Wade Keller.
Adrien: What, Mr. Keller?
Adrien looks annoyed, she's tried to avoid Wade Keller the whole time.
Wade Keller: Forgive me, but you seem to be ignoring me and I have a very important question I'd like to ask you.
Adrien rolls her eyes.
Wade Keller: There are rumors that you and Eric Darkthrone at some point in the future could form an alliance. Is this the case?
Adrien takes a deep breath.
Adrien: Mr. Keller, I suggest you focus on what we are here to talk about. Yes, Darkthrone is part of the NJFC. Yes, he will be at Global Takeover. Does it matter? No. I am not here for allegiances or friendships. I am here for one purpose. That NJFC Global Championship will be mine and will remain mine. I don't care who I go through to make sure of that. But, I will not stop there, Mr. Keller. One day, Adrien will give the EWC World Champion a bed time story and they...whomever that may be at that time will enjoy every second of bliss after they are introduced to the pain of Lithium. Mr. Keller, I hope you are happy for wasting your question.
Adrien backs away from the podium until she has disappeared behind the curtain.
James Peterson: Thank you, Adrien.
James Peterson: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Rick O’Shea!
“Fuel” by Metallica plays as Rick O’Shea walks out from behind the curtain. He is wearing a gray suit with a white shirt and a red and navy diagonal striped tie. He shakes hands with Peterson and approaches the podium as the music fades out.
Rick O’Shea: Thank you all for coming here today. I guess you must have some questions for me.
Ace Heart: Hey, Rick. It’s Ace Heart from EWC. Coming from Pittsburgh, and from the United States in general, how do you feel about the opportunity to perform at the Wembley Arena in London?
Rick O’Shea: Thank you for your question, Ace. Well if you knew anything about me outside of my brief King of the Cage history, you would know that I was a star in an organization known as UWF, which was based right here in London, England. We hosted our weekly show, which was called “Underground”, at the O2 Arena. I’m fairly familiar with the city as I lived and worked here for almost three years. I’ve always loved wrestling in London, and the British fans in general are always passionate about their wrestling. It’s always a great feeling to perform for such a passionate audience.
Wayne Jones: Wayne Jones, from The Times. You mentioned working in London for the UWF. You spent nearly three years of your career almost exclusively with that organization. Is coming to London this week for Global Takeover like a homecoming to you?
Rick O’Shea: Great question, Wayne. I think it is a homecoming. Despite being called the “Universal Wrestling Federation”, the home base was London, and many of the performers were European and Australian. And for some reason, the big favorite of the London fans was an American; of course that American being myself. The fans here remember me as a UWF Triple Crown Champion. They saw me work my way up from the bottom in UWF. I hope I can do the same here in NJFC.
Takahiro Yanagihara <translated from Japansese>: Takahiro Yanagihara from Yomiuri Shimbun here. In Japan, we have heard much about your background in American football. Is there anything that you learned from American football that you use in your wrestling?
Rick O’Shea: Haha, that was many years ago. I never played football professionally, but it was a very big part of my youth. I’ll try to explain this to those who don’t know the sport. I played a defensive position. It was my job, many times, to try to tackle the opposing player who had the ball. I’ll say that whether someone is standing still, running at me, or jumping off the top rope at me, I know many ways to take him down. Although most of them come from my experience in professional wrestling, some do come from my football background.
Takahiro Yanagihara <translated from Japansese>: Thank you. May I ask another question?
Rick O’Shea: Certainly.
Takahiro Yanagihara <translated from Japansese>: Even though you have a singles match at Global Takeover, is there a chance that we see you in the battle royal for the NJFC Global Championship?
Rick O’Shea: No. I will not be entering the battle royal and I’ll tell you why. I suck at battle royals. I do not believe I have ever won a battle royal. I don’t know why I keep entering them. So therefore, I will not be entering the battle royal at Global Takeover. But don’t worry, I will find another way to challenge for, and then capture the championship.
Wade Keller: Rick, Wade Keller from Pro Wrestling Torch.
Rick O’Shea: Hey Wade! What’s up, man?
Wade Keller: Just excited to be here as always, Rick. I asked Adrien earlier, and she refused to divulge much on the rumor of her alliance with your opponent at Global Takeover, Eric Darkthrone. Are you worried about being defeated by the numbers game? Or do you have a plan to take on this alliance if it does develop?
Rick O’Shea: You know me, Wade. I don’t listen to the rumor mill as often as you do. You make a career out of it. I make a career in the ring. Honestly, I don’t know much about Adrien, and I certainly don’t know her history with Darkthrone. Or is it Darkthorne? I’m not trying to be funny or ignorant, but his name has been said and spelled two different ways and I’m seriously not sure which it is. I know I’ve used both names just out of confusion, not indifference. But to answer your question, Wade, I would never tell you of my in ring plans. You should know that by now. Just know that I will be ready for Global Takeover. I was born ready!
O’Shea starts to walk away from the podium, but then turns around and walks back.
Rick O’Shea: Thank you all, again. No further questions.
O’Shea walks away from the podium and behind the curtain.
James Peterson: Ladies and Gentlemen I want to welcome to the stage, one of the stars of NJFC who was unable to debut last year due to injury… Ladies and Gentlemen… I give you Luke Wolfe.
The first few moments of “Evil Ways” begins to play as commotion begins to build among the reporters. Peterson steps off the stage as Luke, walks on and sits down. It’s painfully clear that he doesn’t want to be here, but his contract with the NJFC obligates him to. Luke takes a seat and takes a deep breath, as flash bulbs begin to flicker. Just as a reporter begins to stand up to ask questions Luke cuts her off….
Luke Wolfe: Let me stop you before you even get started. I’m here to wrestle, and that’s it. I’m not here to dance for you like some trained monkey. All I want to do is have the chance to do what I never got the chance to do last year. So keep your questions focused on my match, and not on Anarchy’16. If what you are looking for is some sort of explanation as to what is going on between Anarchy’16 and the EWC, then I only have one thing to say…. No Comment.
Even with Luke starting out by telling the press not to ask about Anarchy’16 sure enough the first reporter, Madison Frick, from “The Fight Network” steps up and does just that…
Madison Frick: Will you be bringing Anarchy’16 to NJFC? And if so what will the roll be of your group?
Luke takes a deep breath…
Luke Wolfe: As I JUST said, I have no comment on Anarchy’16 or our involvement in the EWC. PLEASE keep your questions about my match here in NJFC.
Madison Frick: So you will be coming alone then?
Luke Wolfe: Yes, next question.
Next Jerry Manfeild, from Fox Sports, stands up.
Jerry Manfeild: Is your current issues with the EWC going to have any effect on your match with Minoru Tanaka?
Luke rolls his eyes and leans forward on the table.
Luke Wolfe: Okay, here we go again. Look, let me make things nice and fucking sparkling clear for all of you! My business in the NJFC has NOTHING to do with Anarchy’16! I will be showing up to get in the ring, fight, win and go home.
Jerry Manfeild: But didn’t you say in your Christmas Day speech that you are not only going after the ECW but—
Luke Wolfe: But nothing— Trust me, if I wanted to talk about our cause right now, I would. I’m coming to Japan to take down Minoru Tanaka, and make my mark on NJFC. Something I didn’t get to do last year. Next question—
Dave Norwood, stands up from SEN, Sports Entertainment Network.
Dave Norwood: Can you tell me what it was like to have to sit out last season injured when you would have had a chance make yourself a staple of this brand?
Luke Wolfe: Look, when I got hurt last year I had no idea if I was going to come back or not. I sat in the hospital bed in critical care the last thing on my mind was NJFC, I couldn’t have cared less. This place does not define my legacy, I am carving my own path, a legacy that is bigger than NJFC. The NJFC came to ME, asking me to come back. They need me on their TVs, the Japanese audience wants me, so I’m doing them a big favor by showing up to kick Tanaka’s ass. What I’m doing, is bigger than the sport, bigger than all of you, and when it’s all over… No one will forget my name.
Dave Norwood: What does that mean?
Luke Wolfe: What do you think it means dumb ass? It means I am going to walk into this place and absolutely destroy everything in my path. After I beat Tanaka, do you think anyone will remember him? He will fade into obscurity, the only thing they will remember him for is taking a beating. I am going to walk into this fight and MOW HIM DOWN! There is a war machine coming to Wembley, and I will destroy everything in my path! I think I have given you stupid fuckers more than my obligation, if you just have to have more, tune in and watch me clear the ring you fuckin jackals. The match has been billed “The Best of the Best”? I have news for you, it’s already over.
Luke stands up and swipes at the microphone knocking it over. James Peterson runs up on stage and tries to stop Luke from leaving. The two spend a few moments speaking, Peterson tries to use his authority to keep Luke from leaving. Luke scoffs and shoves Peterson out of the way and leaves. James lifts his hands in frustration, and then walks up to the table lifting the mic back up.
James Peterson: I want to apologize on behalf of New Japan Fighting Championship for Luke. We don’t condone this type of behavior. But obviously, I can’t force him to take more questions.
Madison Frick, stands back up raising her hand.
James Peterson: Yes…
Madison Frick: Will there be any disciplinary action taken against Luke? This being his first official appearance for New Japan Fighting Championship, he didn’t exactly make a good first impression.
James Peterson: I can’t speak on that at this point. We will certainly be looking into it, and take the appropriate actions.
Madison Frick: Is there any chance that he will be pulled from the card?
James Peterson: No, the match will take place as scheduled. I’m afraid Luke’s portion of the conference has come to an end. We will move on now.
It’s clear that James knew that Luke’s interview had the potential to go badly based on his behavior in the EWC. And it would appear that it will be no different here…
James Peterson: Ladies and gentlemen, Nurse Kinsley.
Kinsley motions with a hand at her throat, signalling her music to be cut. The crowd is more hushed than with prior talents, though whether it's disinterest or reverence is difficult to gauge. Harlow leans into the podium, slender arms crossing to support her weight, bright red hair spilling as she tips her head. Her thin eyes scan the crowd; she does not look eager to be here. After a moment or two of reporters... hesitating, a few start to put their hands up, and Kinsley gives one a very nonchalant sort of point.
Kinsley: You. Go.
British Reporter: Yes, uh, Dooly Cradle, Restholdfest.com. You've gone from showing zero interest in title chases, to traveling all this way for a shot at the NJFC Global Championship. Why the sudden change?
Kinsley: My parents named me Harlow, so I sympathize with your plight, Dooly. My little stop off here in Wembley is less about the belt and more about testing the water. I've had a vague interest in NJFC since my days in Mexico. With this being an open invitational, I figure it's an acceptable method of gauging my commitment. We'll see.
...You.
Kinsley points, and another figure rises. The man begins to ask his question in Japanese. Kinsley waits for the translator to do his job, but doesn't do so very patiently; by the time the translator is done, Kinsley has shifted postures several times, and begun to drum her fingers across the top of the podium.
Translator: Hasao Hira, Nippon Sports Publishing. Your tag team partner in EWC, King Flip, is the current GPC FIGHTING Junior Heavyweight Champion. Is there any chance that we could see you two teaming in NJFC, as well?
Once the man is done speaking, and the translator is done translating, Kinsley straightens her back. She takes a long, deep breath... and then begins to reply. In Japanese. Her accent isn't perfect, but she speaks clearly enough, nailing the sentence structure and pronunciation. It brings a smile to Mr. Hira's face, and the other Japanese reporters in attendance begin frantically scribbling notes. Those representing more domestic markets grumble among themselves, displaying confusion and even frustration. A few of them have their own personal translators, but most are entirely lost as to what Kinsley's saying.
Kinsley: <It's going to hinge on two very key elements. One, how much NJFC impresses me while I'm here... and two, whether or not King Flip and I kill each other sooner rather than later. Our debut match on Brawl was evidence that an American company isn't adequately prepared to handle what we bring. NJFC has treated my partner well thus far, and that goes a long way to keeping my interest. The odds are very high that King Flip and Nurse Kinsley will be pursuing the GPC World Tag Team Championship in the near future.>
A moment of relative quiet lapses as, without knowing what she's saying, most of the reporters present aren't sure she's finished. Once her posture relaxes and Hasao sits down, more hands launch into the air--some far more confidently with the knowledge that Kinsley speaks fluent Japanese. She points out a woman in the crowd, saying nothing, but granting a subtle motion with her head.
Female Reporter: Hi, I'm Jenna Statley from Sportsister Magazine. Your career in professional wrestling has been a bit on the brief side, at least in comparison to some of your rivals in this battle royal. Where does your confidence come from going into this match?
Kinsley: I'll freely admit that I haven't been in the business as long as, say, Ruthann Park or Johnny Bonecrusher. I also find that too much emphasis is put on quantity of time served. My career has been short until this point but it has been extremely varied, and I've had my eyes opened more times in a handful of years than some wrestlers ever will. I've met legends of lucha libre in the ring, and I've walked away with a handshake. I've wrestled seven foot inbreds that barely qualified as human. I've worked parking lots and warehouses. I once had my name duct taped to a championship belt. There's matches in Mexico that make hell in a cell look like foxy boxing, and shows that you only get to see if you know which alley to turn down.
I rarely speak of my previous accomplishments because they're only that: previous accomplishments. The injuries I've allocated and the triumphs I've earned, the tortures I've endured, none will win this battle royal on my behalf. The same can be said of any of the competitors I'll be crossing at Global Takeover. The size of your list of deeds adds no power to your punch. Your trophies and your accolades will not separate you from the floor. I can assure you, though, that my experience is nnnot a vulnerability.
More murmuring, and the continued flashing of cameras. Hands rise, but Kinsley is slower to respond. Her muscles tighten, her breathing becoming audible, heavy behind her mask. The angle of her head begins to drift. Her eyes flutter as she starts to stare outward, off, toward the empty floor. James Peterson begins to approach her, seeing that something is amiss, but she snaps out of it before his grasp can meet her shoulder. She abruptly throws her hands into the air, and begins to stagger off at an uneven pace.
Kinsley: That's all!
"I SAID IT'S OVER AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE!"
The crowd went completely silent after NJFC's only champion bellowed out from the back. I extend my arms and kiss my hands before sending them out like I'm blowing kisses to all my journalistic peoples. Kinsley walks off the stage like nothing's happening as I make my way to the podium and shift the titles on my shoulders.
"Everything that woman said was absolutely true. NJFC World Tag Team Championships? They're as good as ours. She likes to play up the fact that there might be some tension or discrepancies between us; however, I can more than assure you that the wacky woman that just left our presence is nothing short of excited about what we're going to bring to the tag divisions on both sides of the globe."
My hands flop the belts off my shoulders and splay them over the podium, clicking them together around the microphone. This takes a minute and the folks are getting a little anxious about asking questions while yours truly sticks his tongue out with determination. Finally! They click together and I look around while clapping for myself. They don't follow my lead, the shit lords. It's more eye rolling and shifting in seats.
"I'm not really in an answering questions kind of mood if I'm honest, so I'm just going to break it down for you. Tara Davidson is nothing more than a putrid little stain on this company that has no fuckin' business stepping into the ring with King Flip. Will it be a good match? Of course it will because I could carry Zach Gowan and the Blue Meanie through the best match of their Goddamn lives. The question of the hour, though, is simple. Will she pose a threat to my reign? Absolutely fuckin' NOT. Tara and her asshat of a husband haven't done anything in this company of note. Global Takeover will be no different."
Pause for emphasis.
"Your boy Flip went through four sorry sacks of shit and Jun Yao to prove myself. Then I went through three sacks of shit, the incomparable Miss Shelley Silver, and Jun Yao to obtain this magnificent little title belt. It's in my best interest to convey to you lot what you already know. Tara Davidson also beat Miss Silver. To which I ask another simple question. So fucking what? You beat Reiko as well but, just like you Miss Davidson, nobody has even slightly heard from her since Collision Course. Your 'big reveal' at Stairway to Stardom doesn't impress me. Your entire miserable fuckin' EXISTANCE doesn't even make me blink."
My eyes shut momentarily after that last sentence. You could feel the animosity in my words and honestly, this King cannot wait to unleash all this malintent onto that ungrateful little bitch. My fingers clasp against my nose for a moment before slamming down hard in a fist on the podium. Any sidebar conversations were silenced with that single action. My eyes opened and would've been burning suns if this were a cartoon.
"I, King Flip, am your Grand Puroreso Crown FIGHTING Junior Heavyweight Champion. And if Tara Davidson walks out thinking she has this match in the bag, well, then she already lost because I underestimate NOBODY and give no INCH for mistakes. The moment she slips and makes a misstep is the moment the C-H-K plants that worthless little troglodyte on her neck and gets the three count victory. This is my first title defense of any sort in many years -- as you can see, the weight-classed belt isn't my only prize of recent history -- so it's imperative I leave my mark and leave a message to ripple through this company. Defeating the King will not come easy... you won't catch me off guard, you sure as hell won't make me tap, and most of all you won't be getting a pin victory on me."
My hands unclip the belts and place them back over my shoulders.
"I leave you with this parting thought, guys. This year isn't going to just be about defending this title in NJFC... or this one in the EWC..." I look from one to the other, then back to the crowd." It's going to be about re-stapling this King onto the forefront of professional wrestling. That happens to include the good Nurse Harlow Kinsley and the tag belts in both of the aforementioned companies. But first and first-mostly that includes me walking into Global Takeover with these titles on my shoulders, giving yet again the performance of my entire fuckin' life, and then walking out with both of these belts still secured on these shoulders. Goodnight."
With that, I shake the boss man's hand and walk off the stage. James Peterson walks over to the podium with a soft smile on his face. He looks back out towards the reports as they were taking pictures of him. He fixes his suit a bit running his hand through his hair.
James Peterson: Ladies and gentlemen our next star needs no introduction whatsoever but allow me to bring you the #1 Contender to the GPC World Heavyweight Championship... I give you Jason P. Davidson!!!!
Everyone in the room stands on their feet as James steps away from the podium clapping his hands together repeatedly. After a moment the curtains are pulled back and Jason makes his way out on stage to a loud ovation and various snap shots fired off at a rapid pace. Jason makes his way over towards James and shakes his hand before heading over towards the podium. The crowd of reporters and media personnel are buzzing and cheering as Jason can be seen dressed head to toe exactly like the 11th Doctor from the popular BBC program Doctor Who. He raises his hands into the air and waves them up an d down getting the reporters to quiet down as his theme slowly fades out. Once satisfied he reaches up and adjusts his bow before leaning towards the microphone.
Clearly his lips are moving but nothing can be heard coming from the microphone. There is an awkward pause as Jason reaches up and scratches his head in confusion. He taps his free hand against the microphone but to no avail since it seems to be dead. However this doesn't stop the grin from spreading that much wider across his lips. Slowly he reaches into the pocket inside of his jacket and pulls out his own version of a Sonic Screwdriver and points it towards the microphone which brings forth another roar of approval from the mostly British audience. He slides the device back into his pocket and leans down towards the now working microphone.
Jason P. Davidson: Thank you, thank you. Now I know you all have tons of questions you want to ask me but this isn't about asking questions and listening to me give you boring answers. If you all wanted that you'd continue beating your heads against the wall talking to the rest of these so called wrestlers.
Jason pauses for a moment and turns to look over at the collection of superstars that all have spoken before him.
Jason P. Davidson: What a fucking clusterfuck, am I right? I mean I must have landed on the Island of Misfit Toys or something. James, seriously man, what the shit? You got a Momma's boy, a couple of meatheads, some wannabe badass Wolfe guy. Then you got some creepy girl that doesn't even know why she's here because she just wants answers.
Jason points directly over at Adrien and nods his head.
Jason P. Davidson: Yeah you sweetheart and let me tell you. The answer is always money but in your case hopefully it's money you don't have to suck dick to get. Let's see we have whatever that thing in the nurse's mask is...yeah you looking like Michael Myers and Harley Quinn's Illegitimate lovechild. Oh, and I remember you... what's up Flip Flop?! Still pissed off I beat you?!
Jason holds his hand over the microphone like he's whispering a secret.
Jason P. Davidson: I wasn't even good back then!
Jason raises his hand over his mouth stifling a giggle before turning his attention back towards the reporters.
Jason P. Davidson: Let's get serious, huh? I didn't have to be here for this. I didn't even have to be on the Global Takeover card at all. My spot in the main event of Stardom is secure. I will be fighting for the GPC World Heavyweight Championship because I am the man that all these poor losers want to be. However when James called and asked me if I wanted to be booked I said yes. I said yes not because I needed the competition, I didn't say yes because I have something to prove to anyone here on this stage or any of you. I certainly didn't say yes because I was just itching to face...uh....
Jason pauses a moment then puts his hand over the microphone and turns towards James Peterson.
Jason P. Davidson: Who am I facing again?!
James Peterson: Stefan Raab!
Jason P. Davidson: Who?!
James Peterson: Raab! You're fighting Raab!
Jason P. Davidson: Ribs? Sure! I'd love some but I'm kinda busy here!
Jason lowers his hand from the microphone and faces the reporters once again.
Jason P. Davidson: I didn't come here for any of that. I came here because I am the pillar of this company. I don't need to win this match, I don't need to cement my spot. All this is going to be is a vulgar display of just how fucking good I am courtesy of Porkchop or whatever the fuck his name is. Sure I might only be the second match of the card but I am the most important person on this roster. I am your future GPC World Heavyweight Champion and you can bet your ass each and every single person on the stage here giving me the stink eye will be watching me like a hawk because I am the measuring stick. I don't care if it's Storm or if it's Vigilante because come Stardom you will find out just why I am the biggest, brightest star of them all. So sit back, relax, and watch as I give this entire country a glimpse of greatness.
Jason bows his head as his theme plays once again as he turns away from the podium and heads back off of the stage.
James Peterson: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your number one contender for the NJFC Global Championship, "The Iceman" Stefan Raab.
Out through the door comes a man who's wearing a black coat with a blue shirt on and wearing jeans and black shoes as he stands for a while for the photographers to take pictures of Stefan who's got a huge smile on his face, being used to these press conferences before from his experience outside of wrestling as he goes to the podium and sits himself down with his name plate of Stefan Raab on it. He's sitting there for a little bit before he begins to speak.
Stefan Raab: "Thank you James. It's been awhile since I've done any press conferences. Anyway I'm here not only to talk about my opponent, but also for the battle royal too, but I want to speak about Jace Parker Davidson first. Now from what I've said yesterday, he seems to be quite mouthy towards his opponents, not really caring about anybodies talent in the wrestling business. That's where he's making a mistake you see because I'm not a guy who runs his mouth before knowing someone face to face and it's not about that. It's about making an impact in this business and see what Jace is about."
Stefan is given a bottle of water as he twists the cap off and takes a sip before he puts the cap back on the bottle and talks about the match.
Stefan Raab: "I have nothing, but respect for Jace mainly because of the amount of titles he's won in both High Octane Wrestling and Boardwalk Wrestling. Now I'm not familiar with High Octane Wrestling, but I certainly am with Boardwalk Wrestling who seems like he won a title over in Boardwalk very quickly. It's the talent he has to compete with anybody in the ring, but I'm feeling like the underdog in the upcoming match because he has wrestled a lot longer than I have and it's given him an advantage, especially when you take in the fact he has the stamina and his highflying skills that outweigh my strengths in this match."
Stefan takes a few more sips of his water as he had to keep some fluids in him due to his health condition of his diabetes and he looks around the journalists who are looking at Stefan with his words, seeing how serious he is as he speaks again.
Stefan Raab: "What is a shame is how his mouth outshines his in ring ability and you can say he's deserved to do that because of his success in the wrestling business, but you know from you're skills in the ring that he's deserved those titles and I don't really care if he's said anything about me because talking isn't going to do him much favours if he wants other people to respect him and I am showing it to him because I want to be the best and I know I have to defeat him to prove to everyone in this room and in the arena on Saturday that I'm a deserving Global title contender."
Stefan breaths for a little while after talking quite a bit about his opponent and he turns to his attention about the Battle Royal even though he's not apart of the match, but knew it was important to talk about as he says a few words.
Stefan Raab: "Which turns my attention to the battle royal and I know I'm not in the match, but I know I will be watching that match with great attention because whoever is the last man or woman standing in that battle royal, the winner gets the Global championship and not only that, but they'll get a chance to face against me at StarrDom for that same belt so I won't be going home after my match. I will sit in the back, watching carefully of what my opponent's strengths and weaknesses are because it's important for a title contender to know what he may go up against."
During the talks, there's cameras clicking everywhere for more shots of Stefan's picture and he takes another sip of the water before he speaks again.
Stefan Raab: "I have no idea who's in the rumble, but I know that there might be a few names that I've faced in Wrestlefest battle royal where I had to deal with my brother Markus Lord Raab, but this isn't about him, it's about who I could face and it can be anybodies game with the Battle Royal and I got to say to all the participants in the battle royal to wish everyone the best of luck and I will be ready to wrestle whoever wins the title next month, providing me with a lot of competition I need to compete in this level."
Still a lot of camera clicks during the time Stefan's talking as he smiles as he sits for a while, letting the photographers take pictures of him before he starts to talk once more.
Stefan Raab: "For now, I'm concentrating on Jace Parker Davidson which is going to be interesting and I know people are right saying this could tear the house down because it can with our respect for this business, but Jace isn't gonna know what hit him and his arrogance can easily cost him the match as I'll take full advantage of any mistake he makes. Good luck Jace because you are going to need it and on Saturday night at Wembley arena, prepare yourself to be Iceinated by The Iceman."
Stefan stops talking as he stands up and leaves the conference room to sign some autographs and pose pictures nearly all day until he goes back to his hotel room to get some sleep before working out majority of the day before the match against Jace Parker Davidson the next day at Wembley Arena.
As the other wrestlers are done with their interviews, a mass amount of people come in, and take everyone out of the room. Then some movers took all the furniture out, and replaced it with very dark and macabre furniture. Dark tables, chairs, backdrops were set up in its place. Another person came in, and replaced the current lighting with a dark and gloomy blue lighting concept. Another on of the people plays a piece of Gothic Music over the PA System. A figure dressed in an all black suit walks into the room. He walks, and sits down right up front in the middle of the conference area. The reporters look stunned but begin to speak.
Reporter 1: Ok sir. Second. was this of rearranging of your own doing, and if so why?
Eric Darkthrone: Yes it is of my doing, and because i can you idiot. I felt like i did not want to associate myself with the refuse that would be considered a regular press conference. I wanted to do this in my own was in my own style. A style that sets me apart from everyone else. These wrestlers here are not deserving of being in my presence on bit. They do not deserve someone of my dominance and excellence being here. I feel like you all do not deserve it, but because i honor these trivial matters, I decided to conduct this introductory press conference for all you bottom feeders of NJFC, nut i was going to do it on my terms, and in my own way.
Reporter 2: Ok. How does it feel to be apart of New Japan Fighting Championship?
Eric Darkthrone: Maybe you should ask the owners how does it feel having someone that it the greatest of all time being on their roster? Maybe you should ask them how does it feel to have someone that can crush the competition with no problem on their books?
Reporter 3: Alright then. How does it feel for you to open The Global Takeover show?
Eric Darkthrone: How does it feel? How does it feel to be relegated to be some sort of opening card hack?! I am a 49 Time World Heavyweight Champion. I have faced the best this business has to offer. I have crushed my competition with an iron fist. All who have opposed me have been made to bow down and worship the ground i walk on. Someone of my Divine Might should be main eventing, not being put on the fist match of the card.
Reporter 4: We understand that sir. We were just asking that question for the people watching this press conference sir.
Eric Darkthrone: I think that the people watching this know who i am, and what i am all about. I bet every single one of them understand that being opening card guy is something that is beneath me. It is beneath someone of my Divine Stature. It is pathetic if you ask me.
Reporter 5: So you are facing Rick O'Shea? What are your thoughts on facing him at Global Takeover?
Eric Darkthrone: Please. You should know what i think. He is someone that is inferior to me in every way. He is someone that, while being a veteran, is nowhere at the level in which i am. He may be good, but i do not think that he has the resume that i have. I have went up against those who have been wrestling for nearly 20 years in this game, and humbled them. I have made those that we considered unbreakable, and broke them in front of the world. I have taken the those considered to be invincible, and stripped them of their invincibility. Rick O'Shea will be just like the rest. He will be made to understand his place in this business. He will be made to understand that they all bow in servitude to me. I am a God, and he shall worship me after Global Takeover.
Reporter 1: So after you beat Rick....
(Eric Darkthrone violently interrupts him)
Eric Darkthrone: Beast him? Did you just say beat him? He will wish that is the only thing that will happen to him. I will massacre that mortal. I will showcase no mercy to the weakling UNDERSTAND?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reporter 1: I understand. So after you annihilate him, what will be your next move?
Eric Darkthrone: It is real simple. World Championships. In fact there is a battle royal to determine a NJFC Global Heavyweight Champion later on that night. That is one of the two world championships of this company. I might have to figure out a way to become involved in that match.
Reporter 3: But how is that possible? You are not even signed up for the match.
Eric Darkthrone: Kid, do you know who i am?
Reporter 3: Eric Darkthrone.
Eric Darkthrone: Exactly. I have not become a 49 time World Heavyweight Champion by being some dummy. I have always found ways to discover loopholes in the rules. You have to think, there are a multitude of ways for me to enter in this match. Someone could miss a flight getting to the city. Someone could come down with an illness making them unable to compete in the match. Someone could perhaps get injured therefore vacating their spot. Like i said, there are ways around things, and i am the one that will find them. Make no mistake about it, Global Takeover will be my night. Whether it be in one match or two.
(Eric Darkthrone stands up from the table)
Eric Darkthrone: I feel that you have outstayed your welcome here. I suggest that you take the tidbits of information that i given, and you meditate on them as i depart for my castle now. I am expecting company of a female persuasion, and i do not want to be late for the personal festivities.
Eric Darkthrone leaves the press conference to meet up with his female companion.[/div]
