(Taking a deep breath, I make my way onto the stage here at the Komatsu City Suehiro gymnasium. A ripple of applause comes from the people in attendance accompanied by camera flashes and I respectfully bow to them before taking my place behind the podium.)
Stacy Jones: Kon'nichiwa. My name is Stacy Jones and before I begin answering questions I would like to thank James Peterson for allowing me to compete in the Pride of Puroresu tournament and I would also like to thank all of you for welcoming me into this great country. With that being said, shall we begin?
(I pick up the bottle of water that was left on the podium for me, unscrewing the cap, I take a quick gulp of the clear liquid as Shelley Silver raises her hand. Looking over to her, I nod in her direction and she stands.)
Shelley Silver: Shelley Silver here representing NJPW. You’re certainly no stranger to multi-promotional tournaments having competed in both the BattleMania and EWC’s King of the Cage tournament, however this your first tournament of this kind outside of America so my question is, what made you pick this one in Japan?
(Screwing the cap back onto the bottle, I nod and smile.)
Stacy Jones: For many reasons really, Ms Silver. I love facing new challenges whenever I get the opportunity, I love this country so much, from the culture to the food and of course the wrestling style that I’ve learned a little from my half-brother, Seifer Black who is also in this tournament. I look at wrestling as an art form, and I love learning as many different styles as I can to not only help me improve but because I love doing it. Wrestling is my life.
(Shelley smiles and sits back down, satisfied with my answer as Ryoku Naito raises her hand and I nod in her direction as she stands.)
Ryoku Naito: Ryoku Naito, also representing NJPW. You said earlier that you love facing new challenges so my question is, who are you most looking forward to facing in this tournament?
(I chuckle a little.)
Stacy Jones: Honestly, I’m looking forward to facing all of them. In my block there are legends such as Asuka Yoshiro who is still going strong after competing for over twenty five years. Then there’s the likes of James Edwards who despite being only twenty two and has two years of being professional has an impressive list of accomplishments already. However there’s one man in my block who I know better than anyone else in the block as we worked together in the same company for a while and that man is Owen Gonsalves. We never had the opportunity to face each other in VoW so I’m really looking forward to facing him for sure.
(Happy with my answer, Ryoku retakes her seat and now Takedo Hamati raises his hand and I point out to him and so he stands.)
Takedo Hamati: Takedo Hamati from NJPW as well, with your half-brother, Seifer Black being in the other block, say you both win your respective blocks and find yourselves in the final against one another, how would you feel about that?
(Taking another quick drink of water, I smile at the thought.)
Stacy Jones: I’d feel happy, honored, excited, nervous…so many different emotions. Seifer trained me in Puroresu, and he was trained by one of the biggest Japanese legends in Hiashi Shinsuma. Even though Seifer and I have worked with each other in the same companies since my professional debut in 2009, we’ve never ever faced each other…so to be able to do it in the finals of this Pride of Puroresu tournament would be an amazing experience. With how much this country and it’s wrestling history means to my brother and I, we’d both be very humbled if we were to face each other in the finals of this tournament, and we will make sure to put on the best damn match possible for everyone watching. We’d put everything into that match, our heart and soul and no matter the outcome, we’d be happy for each other because we love each other.
(Takedo nods and retakes his seat and now Rachel Kensin raises her hand so I point to her and she stands.)
Rachel Kensin: Rachel Kensin here reporting for NJPW. If your opponents for this tournament were standing in front of you right now, what would you say to them?
(Leaning on the podium, I adjust the microphone a little.)
Stacy Jones: I would simply say this. I have nothing but respect and admiration for every single one of you. You have all accomplished many great things over your respective careers, and I know that when we do battle, it’s not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination. But know this, neither of you should underestimate me! I may be only five foot seven and weigh one hundred and fifty pounds, but what I lack in size, I make up for with my speed, agility and my wrestling ability! I have defeated men three times my size before! People have tried to break me down and I have always fought back! I have gone into championship matches as the underdog and walked out as champion! I have the passion, the drive, the heart and the determination to walk into every match in this tournament and walk out victorious AND as the Pride of Puroresu 2017 Crown winner! I will not fall…I will not quit…I…WILL NOT…break! Over the next five weeks, you shall all suffer my Judgement! Your Final Penance…is coming!
(And with that, everyone watching stands to their feet and respectfully applaud me as I step out from behind the podium and once again bow before walking off the stage to allow the next competitor to take centre stage.)

Post by "The Iceman" Konrad Raab on May 30, 2017 2:40:20 GMT
OOC: I'm doing something very different because of SCW Breakdown show he had to attend is on the same day which they are always on a Wednesday. That's why it's different this time around.
It wasn't in a press conference room as such, but rather it was being filmed on a very large titantron where Konrad was at his hotel room in Sacramento, California, a few hours after the event itself as he sits in front of the computer, having it live on stream as he was shown sitting on a table nearby as he begins to speak.
Konrad Raab:: "I apologise for not being able to come to Japan for the press conference today as I had to be here in Saramento, California to attend to SCW Breakdown show tonight and I couldn't get out of it due to Taking Hold Of Flame PPV coming up on Sunday, but this is the best I could do, but regarding that, I will be here tomorrow to wrestle as when you see this video, I'd be on my way to Japan on the plane right this second. Anyway we get onto the business itself about the Pride of Puroresu Crown tournament series for the NJFC Heavyweight title. I have to say, it's been an awfully long time I last held a singles belt and that's something I clearly need to get back on track with. As how I got into this tournament series, it wasn't from me signing up as I never sign up to anything I've not earned. It was down to the discussion I had with the owner of NJFC inviting me to be in the tournament and I gladly accepted his offer because I always want to wrestle the best wrestlers in the world, especially in Japan."
He takes a bit of a breather before taking a sip of water as he looks at the camera before speaking again.
Konrad Raab:: "All, but Tommy Knox, James Edwards and Mark Storm I've never really heard of, although I follow Owen Gonsalves on twitter, but never really interacted with him as such. It's not because of me being an asshole, but saying it in terms of never really worked with them and not knowing much about them. Of course me and Tommy had a little spat about me trying to bring Samuel Chapman to Japan to fight him and Jason Cashe in a tag match one day and that's still an ongoing process. I think it's very interesting to go and fight in series for the next few weeks to see who is the top wrestler in the tournament series itself before going to the finals which is a brilliant idea."
Once again, he takes a sip of his water before he speaks again.
Konrad Raab:: "Obviously you all knew I was teaming with Mark Storm a few weeks ago when we defeated a couple of Japanese guys in a house show event and it was where I was back on form, felt like the Konrad everyone knew is back. That's how I aim to be from now on. I want to be a champion and act like one by going through all these top names like James Edwards I heard of because he's faced my twin brother a few times in Fight One and Tommy Knox is down to working with my twin brother back in the days of The Black Hand stable they had going on along with the twitter interaction we had and Mark in a tag match. As I've always said, I love facing wrestlers I've never faced before because I get to learn more about my opponents every single time I'm in the ring with them and I'm glad I'm getting a chance to competing in such a prestige tournament where the best come together to win the NJFC Heavyweight title and the crown."
Of course although it was on video, the media still took pictures and even wrote notes on what Konrad was saying as he takes a few deep breaths before speaking again.
Konrad Raab:: "It gives me the chance to consistently improve myself as a wrestler which Pride Of Puroresu Crown tournament series will do for me and I'm looking forward to facing every single wrestler in this tournament male or female as I want to be a champion here, it's been a long time coming for this dedicated Pride Of Puroresu wrestler who's been here since almost the day it opened to get a title, but I got to work my ass off for it and that's exactly what I aim to do when it all starts tomorrow night and it's gonna be interesting to see who comes out on top. We got a lot of work cut out for us during the weeks we are in Japan and I'm gonna spend more time in the gym than ever before as I take wrestling very seriously to be in the best shape I can to be able to deliver great matches against eleven guys and girls to perform to my full potential."
Konrad was clearly getting fired up for the whole thing as he clinches his fists pretty hard to show slight hint of anger as he speaks for the last time.
Konrad Raab:: "But I want to be a champion a lot more than the rest because it's about time I become champion in this company I've put a lot of time on putting my blood, sweat and tears to continue coming to Japan, barely having a break and still consistently wrestle in Japan because I love wrestling here since Japanese treat wrestling with respect, exactly how I like to be viewed as. I'm more than ready to take anybody on with these matches and I will become the new NJFC Heavyweight champion because I want the title more than anything in the world right now and if this tournament series is what it takes, I would have earned the title by overcoming eleven others standing in my way. Tomorrow night onwards, prepare to be Iceinated by The Iceman."
The video cut out before the press conference room goes silent for a little while.

As a large white screen slowly drops from behind the press conference table where microphones sit for the wrestlers who have had the ability to make it to Japan. Unfortunately, due to a pre-scheduled conflict with Hollywood Pro, Bryan Laughlin has not made it to the first pre-match presser. As the large screen drops the Skype logo is displayed momentarily before fading away to show the current HPW Television Champion with his championship displayed in front of him at his desk. Waving hello in a welcoming fashion to the members of the NJFC reporters. Bryan awaits his first question
RYOKU NAITO: Mr. Laughlin. Welcome back, sort of, to NJFC. First question, what brings you back to Japan to compete in Pride of Puroresu?
BRYAN LAUGHLIN: Thank you, Mr. Naito. First I'd like to apologize on my behalf for not being able to make it there in person. As the champion of televisions both here in America, and worldwide, I have an obligation to defend my championship in the champion spirit. Something I am sure the great wrestling fans of Japan can understand. Now, what brings me back to NJFC is simple. Unfinished business. I made it to the finals of the tag team tournament with my good friend Jett Wilder. Unfortunately his jet lag left us with an uphill battle, and we fell short. I don't want the people of Japan to have that lasting memory of me and with all of my distractions aside I plan on not only competing in the P.O.P, but also being the last man standing. So bring your black streamers
Bryan smiles before reaching over to his side and grabbing a cup of coffee. Taking a few seconds to ensure he's properly caffeinated he places the cup back down before re-focusing his attention to the reporters
RACHEL KENSHIN: Mr. Laughlin, Rachel Kenshin also NJFC, is there extra motivation for you coming into Pride of Puroresu seeing the opponents you will meet in your group are names from your past?
BRYAN LAUGHLIN: Definitely. I mean there's already high stakes because I'm competing in a large pool of great talent in a different country for an unprecedented chance at the NJFC Championsip. I could sit here and bore you with the names but you have the sheet in front of you. Like I previously said I have unfinished business. I left the industry about a year ago and I've only recently come back. When I saw names like Chris Madison and Jason Cashe sign up it lit a fire in me. The type of fire most do not understand. Jason and I have bled all over each other and I took Madison to his limit back here in the states. I know that when I see those two standing across from me my mind will clear and my body will know exactly what it has to do in order for me to get my hand raised. So extra motivation? You could call it that. I prefer to call it unfinished business.
The friendliness we saw in the beginning during his wave to the interviewers has faded as Bryan speaks about his past. He knows why he signed up, not to prove to anyone around the world who or what he is -- but to prove to himself that his name belongs in those conversations.
SHELLLEY SILVER: Hi, welcome back to NJFC Bryan. Shelley Silver NJFC, you mentioned before the pool of great talent that has assembled when this tournament was announced. What do you believe sets you apart from the rest of the field?
bBRYAN LAUGHLIN: Simple, Ms. Silver. I'm me. Nobody in this tournament has that on their side. The kid who filled in one day and became a death match specialist evolved into a tactfully talented technician. I'm versatile. They wanna fly? I'll spread my wings. They prefer to chain wrestle? I know every reversal clean or dirty that you've ever seen in the ring. Then top off the talent with what I bring mentally. I'm obsessed. That's why I'm back. Obsessed that what I've done isn't good enough. Obsessed that every time I see my peers take a big step I have to step aside. But my obsession won't leave me standing by any longer, Japan will know that Satan's favorite son isn't here to put a stamp on his passport. So to answer your question what sets me apart is that I'm Bryan Laughlin.
TAKEDO HAMATI: Over here Mr. Laughlin. Takedo Hamati. You've mentioned in your return to the ring that you are focused on traveling the world to professionally wrestle for numerous companies. Do you believe that your time off added with your eagerness to broadly spread your talent will leave you too fatigued either mentally or physically before you even make it to Japan for Pride of Puroreso?
BRYAN LAUGHLIN: You guys still have all of those crazy energy drinks over there, right? I should be fine.
Sharing a laugh with the interviewers, Bryan takes the moment to grab his Television championship off of his desk and drapes it over his shoulder
BRYAN LAUGHLIN: But seriously, I don't think about it. I'm going to the UK, to Mexico, and to Japan in 2017 because I want the best this world has to offer and when I'm done with the best this world has to offer I'll know where I stand. Physical Fatigue? I've had enough time off that my body has never felt better. Mental fatigue? I'e removed all distractions from my life to focus on one thing. Hashtag - Grapsin All Over The World. One country, one company, one opponent at a time. Soon I defend my rightful place as Champion of your Televisions, I'm focused on that. Afterwards I look forward to seeing you all in Japan. In the meantime, make sure you ask my opponents what it's going to feel like to be number two, because you just got done talking to number one.

(After a few live feeds of absent participants in the tournament come up, there's a loud cheer from the live Komatsu City crowd.)
OWEN GONSALVES: LIVE AND IN LIVING COLOUR, JAPAN!
(From side stage, Owen comes on wearing a navy blue suit with a ivory dress shirt underneath, the top button is undone. He raises his newly won IYH Championship high above his head, much to the delight of the photographers in attendance. Gonsalves takes a moment to soak it all in, slinging the championship belt over his shoulder before he makes his way behind the podium. He hooks his belt back together and places it on the podium, right in front of him.)
OWEN GONSALVES: It's about damn time someone who actually had the balls to show up to this press conference came out and spoke, no offence to Iceman or Mr. Laughlin but there in lies the first problem, how are we to depend on them to show up at their full potential in that ring when they can barely show up to the damn press conference? I aim to appear at every show I'm advertised to appear for as long as it's within my control. Don't get me wrong...I have other commitments, as you can all see I've been bloody busy...
(Owen points to the championship belt in front of him, pausing for a moment before continuing.)
OWEN GONSALVES: ...But I mean business here, I have a damn tournament to win and if James Peterson tells me to show up for a press conference, it doesn't matter if I wrestled days before and won the IYH Championship, it doesn't matter if I wrestled last night, if I plan on being the top champion in this promotion, I will make it my job to act like the top champion of this promotion long before I've officially won the damn belt.
(Owen pulls out a water bottle and takes a sip momentarily as a few of the journalists in attendance are eager to begin asking questions but the youngster from Australia has plenty to get off his chest.)
OWEN GONSALVES: But with that being said, this is not going to be an ordinary tournament. This is going to be truly special, because there is not a tournament on this planet that collects the talent that this tournament has, simple as that. You have legends of this industry, legends who have been wrestling for a damn near lifetime like Asuka Yoshiro who I face on the 1st of June. You've got superstars of today like Chandler Scott, like Ken Hideyoshi, like Mark Storm...
(The IYH Champion takes a momentary breath and a sip of water to clear his throat, allowing time for the fans and reporters in attendance to applaud the names mentioned.)
OWEN GONSALVES: Then there are those scratching and clawing their way up just like I am, I see a lot of myself in Amis Shelton in Group B, James Edwards has been doing this for a cup of fucking coffee and he's widely considered perhaps one of the best up and comers today.
(Once again he pauses to allow the respect to be paid, even going as far as applauding them himself.)
OWEN GONSALVES: Ladies and gentlemen, these are not meaningless names, as ill as we wrestlers talk in regards to each other, I can assure you that there isn't a name in this tournament that is a nobody. Each and every one of the names whether I respect them or not are names that are valued in this industry, names that have stock, names that have been built for as many as 25 years to as little as just 2 years but all the same these men are some of the best in the world...
(The live audience once again cheers, as more flashes from cameras come up as Owen talks.)
OWEN GONSALVES: However, it's a damn shame that by the end of this tournament, they'll all find out that they are NOT as hungry for this as I am.
(The translation takes a moment but once it does, the audience reacts accordingly, some booing at the slight misdirection, while others applaud in respect of Owens's blunt honesty.)
OWEN GONSALVES: You see, I've done the whole introduction thing, I've done the whole happy to be here thing but now? Now I am here to prove that I am not just one of the best wrestlers in the world, but I'm here to prove that I am THE best wrestler in the world today period. Last week I won my first title in 4 years, and I plan on defending the damn thing because my life depends on doing so, but you see it just is not going to do for me this year. I have to keep doing better and keep achieving more and that, my dear friends is where this tournament comes. That is where the GPC Heavyweight Championship comes in.
(The applause grows as Owen emphasises every syllable in the name of the prize on the line, the IYH Champion exudes fire and passion and, even through the language barrier, the Japanese crowd feel it too.)
OWEN GONSALVES: I am in too fucking deep to not go all the damn way and win this tournament. There's a difference in thinking that you have what it takes to be a champion, and knowing so. The men and women in this tournament all have that one thing in common, they all think they have what it takes, and some of them may be right...but right now, with this tournament in mind, I know, and deep down inside, they all do too...that not only do I have what it takes to be the GPC Heavyweight Champion, I know that I will be the GPC Heavyweight Champion.
(He takes a short breath for a moment, allowing his words to simmer before with a sly smirk, he finally closes his spiel.)
OWEN GONSALVES: Now...any questions?

(The Submission Alchemist is immediately swarmed with questions and hands that are flying up, but the microphone roaming through the audience has landed into the hands of a NJFC Interviewer, Rachel Kenshin.)
RACHEL KENSHIN: Rachel Kenshin, representing NJFC! First of all, welcome back to Japan once again Owen, you've certainly left a mark on NJFC after your last few matches here. In fact your last two televised matches have been confirmed as Match of The Night for their respective shows, so congratulations on that. I was just wondering whether we can expect more Match of The Night performances from you during the Pride of Puroresu Crown, and if so, who do you see yourself having them with?
OWEN GONSALVES: It's great to be back here, the reason that I am so passionate about wanting to win the Crown and wanting to win the GPC Heavyweight Championship is because I love this country so much, I have had some pivotal moments in my career here, so I feel like it's only right that I work my ass off to become the number one wrestler in this country and winning that title is the ultimate way of showing that I am just that.
(He sips his water once again as there's some light applause, obviously having not fully answered the question, Owen raises the microphone back up to his lips.)
OWEN GONSALVES: I feel like my style meshes well with a lot of the wrestlers in this tournament, I'm very hard hitting and very precise in everything I do which is why I feel like whenever I do step in the ring with someone, whether it be Chris Madison or Hiroyoshi Suzuki, I find a way to push them to their limits. That's the key to a Match of The Night, I feel...You've got to push your opponent to their absolute limit and bring out the best in them. It takes two to tango and when the dancers are at their best, the performance is beautiful.
(The High Flyah Messiah once again takes a momentary pause to gather his bearings and ponder upon the final part of the question.)
OWEN GONSALVES: As for who I see myself having great matches with, I'd like to honestly say every single one of my opponents to come, but there's certain wrestlers that have great matches in their sleep, I've been wanting to tear it up with Storm for a while, I get the chance to face the inaugural FGA Hall of Fame Inductee, Chandler Scott on the 6th of July. Ken Hideyoshi is at the top of his game...The list could go on really.
(As Owen speaks the microphone has moved on to another member of the media, Owen takes the moment to once again sip his water before clearing his throat and preparing for the next question.)
RYOKU NAITO: Ryoku Naito here, Owen! Talk to me about some of your opponents coming up in the group stage of the Pride of Puroresu Crown, what's going to be your approach in handling the variety of styles in the group?
OWEN GONSALVES: It's difficult preparing for 11 other wrestlers in your group, while also keeping tabs on the Group B wrestlers as well. I feel like what works best for me is taking them one opponent at a time, I made the mistake of having my eye on a few wrestlers at a time in the Global Takeover tournament and it ended up being what did me over in the first round against Suzuki. I have my focus right now on Yuji Misawa, but I'm taking breaks to study my next few opponents after as well, I think that's the right balance. After Yuji, my next three opponents are James Edwards, Terence Tillman and Tommy Knox so I have a rough draw but if I take things one match at a time, I know I can get the most wins out of my block.
(Satisfied with the answer, Ryoku passes the microphone back to the NJFC correspondent so it can be given to the next chosen reporter.)
TAKEDO HAMATI: Takedo Hamati for NJFC again! Owen, you talked about the different experience levels throughout the field and brought up examples of Amis Shelton and James Edwards as guys who are still building their name in the industry. You also mentioned that you face Terence Tillman early on in the tournament, your third match in fact...Do you feel he sits in the same boat as a Shelton or a Edwards?
OWEN GONSALVES: Maybe so, but I also feel like Terry looks at himself as perhaps the unknown of this tournament. He's done well for himself in places like SAP and 3GW, and he's made a start to an exceptional run in FGA but he still doesn't have enough match history to really look into, he's definitely a threat because anyone who impresses and signs with the promotions I've named has to be a high level talent, but I feel like he hasn't quite exploded onto the scene like perhaps Storm has or Edwards. I look forward to whatever he does bring though, and that can be said about all my opponents in hindsight. They all pose a threat and they all will push me to my best, but it's to their bad luck that my best is what is going to push me to winning the GPC Heavyweight Championship.
(Owen picks up his championship and once again slings it over his shoulder as he prepares to leave.)
OWEN GONSALVES: June 1st, it starts with the fall of Yuji Misawa...and by the end of it all, they will ALL know that Owen Gonsalves cannot be...
(The live crowd chant "DESTROYED" in a mix of English and broken English, but nonetheless it's quite the moment.)
OWEN GONSALVES: ...destroyed. Arigatou gozaimasu!
(With that, Gonsalves raises his championship belt one last time for photos before exiting out the way he came, confidence in every step he takes.)

(As Owen Gonsalves passes me in the corridor, he gives me a nod and a smile that I reciprocate before heading back into the gymnasium. The people in attendance once again applaud and cheer upon my arrival and yet again, I bow respectfully to them before taking my place behind the podium. Ryoku Naito is quick to raise her hand to ask a question, so I nod in her direction and she stands.)
Ryoku Naito: Stacy, now that you’ve had a chance to listen to a few of the other participants involved in the tournament, what are your thoughts on what they had to say?
Stacy Jones: Well for one, I’m disappointed that Owen didn’t name drop me!
(I chuckle, as does the room and I shake my head a little.)
Stacy Jones: Kidding of course, I’m not that shallow. To answer your question though, Ryoku…they all sound pretty damn confident…but of course they would, wouldn’t they? They’re not exactly going to stand in front you all here, or appear to via Skype or whatever and say that they’re not ready and that they’re worried that they’re not going to be able to deliver in this tournament.
(Taking a sip from my water bottle, I continue.)
Stacy Jones: But the thing is, it’s easy to say something and then it’s another thing to act upon it. All three men who came before me all said the same thing, they all said that they will be the one to win the Pride of Puroresu Crown tournament and become the NJFC World Heavyweight Champion, and they’ve all said that they want it more than anyone else in this tournament.
(I smirk a little before my expression then turns deadly serious.)
Stacy Jones: With all due respect to them…they have no damn clue how badly I want this more than they do! They have all been a World Champion before! They have already hit that pinnacle! They have already been at the top of the proverbial mountain!
(Clenching my fist, I hit it hard off the podium.)
Stacy Jones: Well I have yet to do that!!!
(I close my eyes before taking in a deep breath and reopening them.)
Stacy Jones: Ever since I started training at the age of fourteen, my father who trained me, he always said to me that one day I would be a World Champion. He always believed in my abilities, not just as a father but as a trainer. He’s the reason why I got into this business instead of going down the road of alcohol and drug abuse. Had it not been for him, I’d have been found dead in a ditch somewhere years ago with an empty bottle of vodka in one hand and an empty bottle of pills in the other.
(A tear begins to roll down my cheek and I quickly wipe it away.)
Stacy Jones: I’m not trying to play the victim here. I know I’m not the only one who has had a rough time in life because we all go through rough times, some more than others and I know there are people out there who have it worse than I do. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to allow Konrad Raab, Bryan Laughlin, Owen Gonsalves or ANYONE else in this tournament take mine and my father’s dream away from me!
(I take another deep breath and hold onto the sides of the podium.)
Stacy Jones: You’ve heard this being said already, ladies and gentlemen, but now I want you to FEEL it! I am going to be the winner of the Pride of Puroresu Crown and the new NJFC World Heavyweight Champion! “Unbreakable” Stacy Jones! It doesn’t matter if you’re a friend! It doesn’t matter if you’re a foe! Hell, I’m even willing to go through my own family to win this tournament and the title! THAT’S how badly I want to win this and THAT is why I WILL win this tournament and become your NEW NJFC World…Heavyweight…Champion!
(Taking a moment, I have a few drinks of my water as Takedo Hamati raises his hand and I point to him so he stands.)
Takedo Hamati: It’s quite clear to us all how badly you want this, Miss Jones, so what would it mean to you to win this tournament?
Stacy Jones: It would mean everything to me, Takedo.
(I stroke my right hand through my long jet black hair.)
Stacy Jones: It will prove that my father was right! It’s validation for me as a wrestler that I CAN accomplish the dream that my father had for me! MY dream! Winning this tournament and the NJFC World title means I can hold my head up high and tell the world that I finally did it! That I went into a tournament in a different country, took on some of the best wrestlers in the world and I walked away as the best! You see, throughout most of my career, I’ve always had people dear to me who have always believe in me. Started with my father, then later on my mother, my girlfriend and all of my friends…
(Smiling a little, I look down to the floor for a brief moment before looking back up to the people in attendance.)
Stacy Jones …but the problem was that I never believed in myself! Having other people believe in you is great, but if you don’t believe in yourself? You’ll never accomplish anything you set your mind too. Now, I believe in myself! I believe in myself more than ever before! And THAT, ladies and gentlemen is why you’re looking at the winner of the Pride of Puroresu Crown and the NEW NJFC World Heavyweight Champion!
(And with that, I step out from behind the podium for the second time today and bow in respect as everyone applauds before I take my leave.)

Anticipation for the Pride of Puroresu Crown is building momentum at a quickened pace as the competitors field questions from the interviewers. However, up until now, very little has been discovered about the man named Slade LaVey, or his siren of a manager, Cadence Fournier. Mere seconds after another round of questions had fielded, the screen at the head of the arena begins to static. Upon the clearing, the ambiguous duo are seen as Slade holds a camera in his hands to focus on the two of them cozied up in an undisclosed location.
Slade LaVey: Mmmm, sorry to disappoint, but we felt as though our arrival in a more intimate manner, should be withheld just a little bit longer. See, before we can engage in a session of curiosity, there needs to be a clearing of the air.
Now with the undivided attention of the company, Slade looks to Cadence.
Cadence Fournier:We watched from a distance. We lingered while others ran into disaster. Like sheep. But neither of them know about chaos. Or what responsibility comes with bringing destruction.
She remained close to him, her slender body perfectly fitting against him. A vicious grin forming on her face. Dark coloured eyes looking for his, only to meet them as he spoke.
Slade LaVey: And here we are, prepared… begging for the opportunity to finally let it be known that a renaissance is on the horizon. Wolves, we lead, we hunt, and we devour. Chaos is coming to Japan in ways you've never experienced. True horror between ropes is to be witnessed, with not one man or woman spared at our expense.
With those words, Slade pauses and runs his hand through his hair slowly, Cadence placing a hand over his chest.
Shelley Silver: Well, what sets you apart from the field? As a virtual unknown to everyone, that could be a detriment or a benefit.
Slade LaVey: There are two types of people in this world, Ms. Silver. Those that you can scout from their roots onward, and those who come in and wow you. I don't need the admiration or following to walk into your ring and prove to you that I belong. Once the first match concludes, you'll be hard pressed to find a suitable question that could doubt what I'm capable of.
Just then, Cadence moves her hand to the camera and focuses on herself.
Cadence Fournier: I wouldn't endorse a man, or beast in my Slade’s case, without having the utmost confidence in what he can do. He is decorated in many disciplines outside of wrestling. Now, he is being given the opportunity of a lifetime because the cards all fall in our favor.
Ryoku Naito: Ryoku Naito here! What about the competitors, then? Surely you are aware of the dense field.
Slade LaVey: Suzuki, Pariah, Cashe, Shimada, Ibushi. All revered names, all brutal challenges, but none of which you'll see me cower against. You don't enter war with trepidation, just as you do not engage in close combat without knowing your own skill. I asked for this, I am ready for this. Whether they're big names in Japan, the United States, or both, the only man that will be discussed after this all is myself. They, unlike myself, are easily scouted and I have my plans in place.
Ryoku Naito: So, it's safe to assume, that in your opinion, this is a win for you?
Slade furrows his brow toward the camera as Cadence laughs in disbelief.
Slade LaVey: Do you not enter an endeavor and expect yourself to succeed? This is the genesis of Slaughterhouse Slade. The inception of my career in Japan, which will lead to a chance to become your champion. The wicked so not rest until they find the end to their means, and all I do forward, is a means. Regardless of who I have to bloody, cripple, or exterminate completely, I will see your throne and create a true horror story. We are about business, and our business is brutality. No need to be flashy or pander, because I am an entity that speaks for itself. I suggest you prepare yourself for more than you expect… wouldn't want the faint of heart in the room to miss the rise of an unknown… to become the very sun your universe revolves around.
Slade moves the camera in closer and laughs, a slight downward stare to the floor with his eyes looking up create an evil expression. With everyone silent, the sound of his leather jacket can be heard subtly as he moves and Cadence puts her face to his.
Slade LaVey: Your culture… your morals… all will be turned upside down. Everything I do is for a purpose, and my purpose is always superseding anyone else's. You can either adjust… or be left behind.
With a rugged annunciation of the d in behind, Slade runs his fingers over Cadences cheek before the static returns, leaving the interviewers to think over his words until he opens up the forum again.

Post by Tommy Knox on May 31, 2017 4:46:59 GMT
With one half of the GPC dPEEg World Tag-Team Championships on his shoulder, Tommy Knox enters the press conference area through the back entrance. Squeezing his way through the reporters and fans in attendance, he makes his way to the front of the room before stepping up to the platform. Turning back to look at everyone, he places both hands together, touching palms, before showing his respect and bowing to those before him. Pulling the championship from his shoulder, he places it onto the podium before leaning forward and breaking the silence.
TOMMY KNOX: I would like to thank you all for invitin' me to your beautiful country. It's my pleasure to be here in Thaila--
In the blink of an eye, a staff member standing nearby rushes beside him, placing their hand over the microphone and whispering in Knox's ear.
TOMMY KNOX: I stand corrected. Thank you all for havin' me here in Japan. It doesn't really matter where we're at if I'm bein' honest, the inside of one ring looks the same just as the next.
With a cocky grin, he raises his hand and points into the crowd.
TOMMY KNOX: Batter up. First question.
TAKEDO HUMATI: Mister Knox, a lot of people here tonight have referred to you as more of a tag-team competitor over being a singles competitor. Having won the GPC World Tag-Team Championships last year with Jason Cashe, that statement is correct in a sense. With the Pride of Puroresu Crown being a singles competition, do you feel limited in your abilities to compete with some of the biggest names in wrestling around the world?
Looking over the crowd, he shrugs his shoulders before tuning his attention back to Takedo.
TOMMY KNOX: Not at all. If you remember correctly, last year's tournament for this belt in front of me featured a list of talents just as accomplished. Round after round we pounded our way through the list of teams before capitalizin' in a triple threat ladder match. Although a team, I still had to bring my top game with me and as you can see...
Looking down at the GPC Tag-Team Championship, he points both index fingers to it before cutting his eyes back to Takedo.
TOMMY KNOX: I was able to carry my weight resultin' in dPEEg bein' your tag-team champions today. Next question.
RYOKU NAITO: Tom--
TOMMY KNOX: Next question from someone not under five foot.
SHELLEY SILVER: Aside from wi--
RYOKU NAITO: But I was first!
TOMMY KNOX: Have a seat, I'll get to you in a minute. Let the lady have the floor.
Turning his attention back to Shelley, he holds his hand out, opening up the floor to her alone.
SHELLEY SILVER: Thank you Mister Knox. My question is this. Aside from the obvious and winning the Pride of Puroresu Crown, what is it that you're looking to accomplish in this round robin singles tournament?
Silence. Brushing the hair from out of his face, he then removes his sunglasses and places them on top of his head. Thinking to himself for a few short moments, he looks back to Shelley as he runs his fingers through his beard.
TOMMY KNOX: That's a very good question. What's your name?
SHELLEY SILVER: Shelley Silver.
TOMMY KNOX: Hopefully I don't drag this out too long but here goes. This question goes along with the one just moments ago. Over the years I've mainly competed in tag-team competition for the most part, just here recently branchin' out on my own in singles with a small promotion in California. Before twenty-seventeen, I haven't competed on a full-time level as a singles wrestler since twenty-thirteen, which was a successful run if I do say so myself. That's the past though. While I do hold one half of the GPC--scratch that, the dPEEg Tag-Team Championships, I want to make a name for myself as bein' one of the best singles wrestlers on an international level.
SHELLEY SILVER: You plan on doing that here, in New Japan Fighting Championship?
Nodding his head in agreement, he rubs his hands together before answering her question.
TOMMY KNOX: I can't think of a bigger stage to do so. This belt in front of me, I carry it with pride. I, along with my tag-team partner, have already proven that we're the best tag-team in the world. Now I want to prove that I'm the best singles wrestler in the world and with the list of names upon names in the Pride of Puroresu Crown, I can't think of a better way of doin' so.
RYOKU NAITO: Tell us about your trai--
Holding his hand up, he stops Ryoku in mid-sentence.
TOMMY KNOX: Miss Shelley wasn't finished. I'll get to your questions in just a moment.
Looking back to Shelley, he nods in her direction, signaling her next question.
SHELLEY SILVER: Thank you, Mister Knox. That's all the questions I have at the moment.
Stepping forward, Ryoku forces himself at the center of Knox's attention just feet in front of him below the platform. Just as he opens his mouth to speak, Knox holds his hand up once more, cutting him off.
TOMMY KNOX: Look it. Winning those tag-team championships last year is arguably one of the best moments in my career. I'm proud to call NJFC my home but I'm not satisfied with just being a tag-team guy. I want more and this tournament is exactly what I need to show all you fine people of Indone--Japan what I'm capable of. Now, if you'll excuse me...
RYOKU NAITO: MISTER KNOX!!!
TOMMY KNOX: Yo-Shit-Soon, I got to go man.
RYOKU NAITO: Yes, this is the Yoshitsune Arena but tell us about your training!
TOMMY KNOX: No, you ain't hearing me. Yo, I got to shit soon. I'll catch up with you in a little bit.
Grabbing the championship, he hops down from the platform before passing by Ryoku in a hurry.
RYOKU NAITO: MISTER KNOX!!!
TOMMY KNOX: Bye Felicia!

Post by John Pariah on May 31, 2017 4:59:38 GMT
(Just as the crowd was pondering if the parade of stars was over, a voice rings over the PA system)
JOHN PARIAH: Saa, omae no tsumi o kazoero!
(The fans cheer loudly, as John Pariah walks out onto the stage, greeted by interviewer Ryoku Naito, he sits down, and takes a sip of water.)
RYOKU NAITO: Mr. Pariah, can we get your thoughts heading into your in ring return-here in the Pride of Puroresu Crown?
JOHN PARIAH: I like you kid, you know why? Your given name....it reminds me of Ryuki-which is the first Kamen Rider series I watched in its entirety. Now I'm sure sure if you caught it by that little bit at the beginning...but I'm something of a large fan of Kamen Rider.....
(This gets a loud pop from the crowd)
JOHN PARIAH: But seriously. The Pride of Puroresu Crown, you break it down-and it's a tournament. Tournaments are something that I have a bit of a good record with. Lee Best Invitational, X Factor Cup, Genesis Cup, Rey de Puro, I've had a rather successful run in a tournament setting over my 18 year career. So I think I'm game for this.
RYOKU NAITO: Why come back to NJFC sir? The last time we saw you in an NJFC ring, you were standing beneath the boot of one Jace Parker Davidson-seemingly run out of the company. Your thoughts?
JOHN PARIAH: My thoughts? Well...to be honest...
(He takes another sip of water)
JOHN PARIAH: One of my darkest moments took place here-losing to Jace, not fullfilling my promise of winning the title. I allowed Jace and his Kingdom to run all over this company-eventually putting it into something of a coma. That sin? It's mine to bear, mine to..count up if you will. It's not the only one on that list-but it's a big one. So I'm here to right that wrong, and bring a little bit of prestige back to NJFC.
RYOKU NAITO: Your thoughts on the competitors in this tournament?
JOHN PARIAH: You know kid, I'd be lying if I said that I knew who alot of these guys were. Bryan Laughlin I only just saw a few minutes ago-and he's a guy who can't even be assed to be here tonight. What kind of respect does he have for this business, this company, or these people? Other names, Chris Crippler sounds like someone I used to see in those Backyard Wrestling videos during the Howard Stern Show....Slade LaVey, the guy that was just out here? He intrigues me-if only because I'm a nerd and I'm a big Deathstroke fan..so the name immediately got my attention. I've watched everyone, studied everyone-and I think it's time that I stepped in and showed them how it's down. It's time that I brought Chicago Strong Style to Japan, and just showed these guys exactly who the ICONIC one was...
(He takes a sip of his water)
JOHN PARIAH: and then there's Jason fucking Cashe. Who I just genuinely want to introduce his face to my elbow in the friendliest of ways. I've been craving a match with him for over a goddamned year now. It didn't happen in REDEFINE, or HOW, or anywhere else-but fuck me sideways kid..it's going to happen here in Japan. Probably in the B Block finals-because I honestly don't see anyone else getting there but us.
(The crowd pops again, as Pariah stands up.)
JOHN PARIAH: Domo Arigato Japan....the Golden Knight has brought Chicago Strong Style to you, and I'm heading back home with that trophy in my hands. Mark my words.......
(He smiles, grabbing the mic and putting his hand in a gun taunt)
JOHN PARIAH: Your fate.....is mine to decide......
(The crowd errupts into a loud "JOHN PARIAH" chant, as he holds his other arm up-and Too Sweets a few fans in the front rows, before heading backstage once more)

Jason Cashe
Tag Team Champion

Logos for the Pride of Puroresu Crown were plastered everywhere. Crew members working the event had it on their shirts. The backdrop wall had a big logo for both NJFC and the event being held centered. The crowd of reporters and beat writers covering the Tournament were waiting on the next name to appear. James Peterson was looking concerned himself as he walks around to check the back area. That's when through the gathering of people comes one half of the GPC Tag Champions, Jason Cashe. He too was wearing a NJFC/GPC T-Shirt as he climbs up onto the stage and approaches the podium.
CASHE: "Whats up JAAAAAPAN!"
James Peterson snapping his head around as Cashe speaks for the first time tonight. Almost a sigh of relief on his face as he watches from the side of the stage.
CASHE: "So usually these things are interviews, questions from the crowd and what not right? Okay so let's do this a bit different today shall we? I'm high as fuck so I'm going to just talk some things for a bit and then I will answer whatever questions you people have for me. Sound good?"
Not waiting to hear any responses, it was almost rhetorical.
CASHE: "Originally I came to Japan, to NJFC for one reason. To become Tag Champions with my oldest friend, Tommy Knox. We've had some fun here. We've said goodbye here and we've returned here. That to anyone is a history and now? Now I see a bigger picture. Now I see the GPC World Heavyweight Title sitting there just WAITING for a new Champion to be crowned! Now I don't know about you folks out there in the land of noodle and anime but I think that belt would look mighty "purdy" on my naked waist."
Pausing as he catches a few eyes opening in surprise like his words could refer to a few things.
CASHE: "I sometimes wear titles in the nude. What matters is that it's not JUST about the Title. That man over there.."
Pointing as his arm extends and his finger aims at James Peterson, still standing off to the side.
CASHE: "He JUST put on one HELL of a tournament with the Global Championship. Fuck that punk bitch who won that because it's not THERE that you will find the Top Name in this company. It is HERE in the Pride of Puroresu Crown Tournament! You've got names like Chris Madison, Bryan Laughlin, One of the Raab brothers, you have the always self promoting and always retiring John Pariah! You even have Tommy Knox which personally for me? I would just ADORE finding him standing across from me when the finals come around. Can you imagine?
But looking at this tournament, not just it's prize. Not just the names involved but the style of this tournament. The time we will ALL invest in busting our asses to not just perform well but to win. I don't have to win them all, I just need to win enough to be better than anyone else on my Block. That's right up my alley if you think about it!
I am never someone who anyone credits as being the best. I wouldn't lie to you and say I could be that but what I can be is the guy who just finds a way. The guy who competes at every level, that matches up with whatever is thrown my way to make one HELL of a match for the poopers warming seats will get to see live!"
A few people in the crowd give some approval. They appreciate his energy and the words being said because he does try to be that competition with every name he steps into a ring with.
CASHE: "So this tournament is a lot of things. It's competition, it's a prize waiting to be claimed. It's an HONOR to even be among the names listed but for me? It is about getting the chance to be what Jason P. Davidson wasn't man enough to remain. What John Pariah couldn't achieve."
A few gasps from the audience as his drags towards the former Champion but the history between the two had created a long standing disliking.
CASHE: "See out of EVERY name in this tournament right now? The ONE name that might create some buzz and bring that COWARD JPD out from hiding is me. Nobody winning this can 100% consider themselves the TRUE Champion when the former merely vacated his reign. No, no, see I have that in mind heading into this. I don't just want another belt under my career, I want one that brings a bigger level of talent to come and try to take it from me. Former Champions, Contenders, Hall Of Famers and arrogant FUCKS who want to come to THIS MOTHERFUCKING COMPANY AND THINK THEY CAN GO TOE TO TOE WITH THE NEXT GPC WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!"
Breathing heavy as his chest rises and falls in rapid pace. Cashe was getting amped up. Antsy as all hell to compete, to fight. Letting out a long winded exhale, he calms down.
CASHE: "So bring on the Laughlins, the Madisons, the Pariahs. Hell bring on the Williams-Troys who just became Global Champions for all I care because NJFC will be the House someone else built but it will be the House I Remodeled..."
Moving from the podium, Jason Cashe takes a seat at the table to the right. Uncapping the bottle of water he takes a swig. Towards the end you could hear the smacking of cotton mouth in every word. After clearing his mouth he looks over the crowd, licking his lips before speaking out again.
CASHE: "Now.. Any of ya'll motherfuckers got questions? Let's get it."

As the hands go up one by one, Cashe nods and points to Takedo Hamati who was in the front row. He had met him before during one of the shows before.
TAKEDO HAMATI: "Thank you. My question is, who would you say will bring the biggest challenge for you in the Tournament?"
CASHE: "Good question. My answer isn't simple though because you have in this tournament a variety of talent with so many skill sets that you almost cannot prepare for each person. For like Bryan Laughlin, I know that he and I have a score to settle. We have a tie to break and right now that might be the most excited match I can see going into this. Will it be tough? Of course but that is also what excites me about it. Each match gives me a new challenge. Chris Madison will bring a technical skill that not too many can match. Every man and woman competing in a fight business can be defeated given the right circumstance. It's my job, the job of everyone in this to find that circumstance. Next question."
This time he didn't pick anyone as another voice just jumped to the opportunity.
SHELLEY SILVER: "Yes, my name is Shelley Silver and you mentioned Laughlin, Madison, Raab and even your Tag Partner but what about the lesser known names. What challenge does it give you to face against names you might not KNOW the complete skill set too?"
CASHE: "I wing it. See I'm not the kind of guy who does much planning. My game plan usually consists of going out there and laying my paws on their flaws. I find openings, small or big. Mistakes made and I try to capitalize on them. Simple, no hidden tricks of my trade. I'm a banger. I swing these thangs and I've done it well enough to be called a Champion on some fairly big stages. The lesser knowns might be unknown to me but I am not unknown to them so it's their match to lose. I am just there to spoil their chances."
Again a question is answered and Shelley Silver wasn't done asking questions as she had another. Cashe leans to his side over the back of the chair next to him and rips a fart. The whole crowd of people hear it and most cover their noses even if the smell wouldn't reach them. He acted as though it was no big deal as he listens to the next question.
SHELLEY SILVER: "You face Hiroyoshi Suzuki, John Pariah, Slade LaVey, and Bryan Laughlin in your first four matches of the Tournament. Having said you don't plan too far a head, what do you think you're record will be after these four matches?"
CASHE: "Four wins, Zero losses. At worst Three and One. With Laughlin, it's as good of a guess as anyone's and most knowing us both might give him the nod on paper. If you think the others named will be a threat then I guess we'll both be surprised! Haha! John Pariah is some so called "Legend" and I've watched his DVD he released last time he retired but you know what I haven't seen? I haven't seen him be a Champion anywhere that he didn't have a hand in the cookie jar. I know he was out here yapping his yapper, wanting to put his elbow in my face but wants and realities are often different as his will be. He will no doubt retire soon anyway, his empty pockets want to be here but his heart isn't here. Suzuki? LaVey? LaVey has gained my attention but refer to my last question answeredt.. I wish them luck. Better them to have it than I."
Interrupting the Q&A, James Peterson addresses both the crowd and Jason Cashe of time restraints.
JAMES PETERSON: "We have time for ONE more question. Jason here is a very busy man.."
CASHE: "That fart MIGHT have been a Shart so that's not a bad call there Bawse Man. One more, who we got? Umm... You!"
He was pointing to the back of the room. An attractive little female stepped up and was handed a microphone to ask her question.
RACHEL KENSHIN: "My name is Rachel Kenshin and I was wondering, are you Single? The women of Japan love them some Jason Cashe ever since your days with Action Packed Wrestling when they traveled here for a show every year. Is there still something going on with that... Weef girl?"
CASHE: "Weef? Hahaha! It's Queef and do the ladies here like me? News to me but I am flatte--"
WHAT BITCH!?"
Out of nowhere, Cashe's fiance and fellow 4CW Wrestler, Persephone Marquis rushes into the room and blasts Rachel Kenshin to the side of her face. The punch knocks the girl over and instantly she curls up in pain and cries out as the room spreads apart in gasps. Cashe's head drops as James Peterson just smiles and looks over to Cashe. The Q&A was definitely over.

(After Cashe returns to their seat, a picture of Chandler Scott is shown on the video screen behind everyone. Taking his cue, Chandler pushes back in his chair, rises from his seat and makes his way over towards the podium to a respectable amount of claps from those in attendance. He is dressed in a navy three piece suit for the occasion. After adjusting the mic, he addresses the room.) CHANDLER SCOTT: Thank you... (Chandler unscrews the cap to a bottle of water and takes a quick sip. He slowly scans the room before continuing to speak.) CHANDLER SCOTT: First off, I'd like to thank James Peterson and the rest of the NJFC staff for affording me this opportunity. I am deeply honored to have been granted entry into a tournament as highly regarded as the Pride of Puroresu Crown. No matter the outcome of this tournament, it will be my duty to not only prove myself to this great fanbase, but to prove to the NJFC staff that they made the right call in having faith in me and selecting me for this tournament. (He pauses, then continues.) CHANDLER SCOTT: This coming August will be my sixth year in professional wrestling. Within that time, I've won my fair share of titles and tournaments. Within that time, I've set and broken my fair share of records. When you've achieved the things that I have, it would be temping to take your foot off the pedal. It would be easy to get complacent or comfortable. It would be easy to start scaling things back and start coasting off of my name. But that's the difference between me and a lot of my contemporaries. I don't ever want to get to the point where I no longer want to push myself. I don't ever want to get to that stage where I no longer want to challenge myself. I don't ever want to get to the point where I look around and decide that I'm comfortable. Because the day that I become comfortable is the day that I become vulnerable. The day that I become complacent is the day that people should start looking for a replacement. I've been to the top of multiple companies. There are many accomplishments and accolades to my name. Yet I am not remotely satisfied. That fire, that burning desire to prove myself? It burns as strong as it ever has. I've reached the highest of highs on both sides of the Atlantic. Now it's time to see if I can do the same here in the Land of the Rising Sun. (He takes another quick sip before continuing.) CHANDLER SCOTT: I've done many things in the United States. Because of that, I could have used my name to push my way towards the top of great companies out West like 4CW, HKW, Phoenix. But I didn't. I've done many things throughout the United Kingdom. Because of that, I could have used my name to push my way towards the top of great companies like SSWA or UKWF. But again, I didn't. If I were going to branch out again, I wanted something new. Something exciting. Something different. I wanted to go to a place where the name "Chandler Scott" meant absolutely nothing. I wanted to go to a place where my actions, not my name or my reputation, were going to do all of the talking. Some of the reporters here, as well as some of the great fans that will be attending this tournament over the next few weeks, they know who I am. But to the majority? I come to you as a stranger. An unfamiliar entity. But by the end of this tournament, I will earn your respect. I will earn the title of the Pride of Puroresu Crown. But more importantly? I will earn that GPC World Heavyweight Championship. (Chandler takes his focus off of the reporters and turns his gaze to his fellow competitors.) CHANDLER SCOTT: I look around at some of the participants who were able to make it to today's press conference... (He says as he gesticulates with his arm towards his fellow wrestlers in attendance.) CHANDLER SCOTT: I listen to the words of those who were only able to attend via satellite or pre-tape... (He points his thumb to the video screen behind him.) CHANDLER SCOTT: I have a great deal of respect for everyone in this tournament, from those who I will be competing against in Group A to those who I believe I'll eventually be meeting from Group B. There are a couple of these combatants that I have the pleasure of working with back in the States. Some of these names are names that, before this tournament, I've only heard in passing. The others? I was unfamiliar to them just as they were to me. But trust me when I tell you. By the end of this tournament, each and every single last one of these men and women will know the name of Chandler Scott. It will be the name at the top of the A Block. It will be the name that advances to the Finals. And it will be the name that will soon adorn that GPC World Heavyweight Championship belt. (Another sip of water is taken) CHANDLER SCOTT: In closing, I say this. I didn't come here for some quick cash grab. I didn't come here to do what a lot of people do when it comes to these type of events. They enter a tournament for a title. If they win? Great. If they lose, they bail. But not me. I'm not a guest. I didn't sign up to do this part-time. I'm not just here for the tournament. I signed a full-time contract. I'm here for the long haul. The first chapter is being written as we speak. But in the end, every head will bow and every tongue will confess that Chandler... Reigns... Supreme.

(A commotion can be heard as the group of reporters try to be the first to field their question to Chandler.) RACHEL KENSHIN: Mr. Scott. How does it feel to finally become international? CHANDLER SCOTT: Well I was regularly competing in the UK back in 2013. I first competed in Japan back in 2014. So anyone who claims that I'm trying to "become" international is wrong. NJFC is a place that has piqued my interests for a minute. Truth me told, I was actually trying to get on the last tour. But there was a delay in paperwork and I missed the cutoff. I missed my shot. But you can bet that I'm making the most out of this one. I've been in a round robin tournament before. But not against this many opponents over this many days and weeks. I'm looking forward to the challenge and coming out the other side a winner. SHELLEY SILVER: Mr. Scott. You said that you came to NJFC to challenge yourself. Why NJFC? CHANDLER SCOTT: Well I hold the Japanese wrestling scene in high regard. There have been a lot of great athletes that have cut their teeth here. Some of the biggest stars in professional wrestling have honed their craft here. I've only competed in Japan three times. But in each of those scenarios, it was against people that I was already in the same company with. It was against opponents that I was already familiar with. This is a completely different situation. NJFC is giving me a chance to test my mettle in a completely different environment. I'm being thrown straight into the deep end against against opponents that I'm not familiar with. I'm being thrown into a situation where I'm facing a variety of styles in quick succession. It's sink or swim for me. But trust me when I tell you that I don't plan on drowning or simply treading water. TAKEDO HAMATI: You mentioned earlier that there are some names that you're familiar with? CHANDLER SCOTT: Well back in the States, I happen to work in the same company as Chris Madison, Owen Gonsalves, James Edwards, Terrence Tillman and Mark Storm. I've heard Edwards' name throughout the industry and seeing him first hand, I know that he's the real deal. Me and Storm have been in the ring before and we tore it up. I know he's looking forward to avenging that loss. So as hard as he's going to come at me, I have to come back at him twice as hard. Triple T is someone that I've seen come through the ranks of FGA's former developmental affiliate. He's someone that has huge upside. My sister has trained alongside him and has even beaten him. So I can't go out there, lose to him, and give her something to hold over my head. Tillman says he's the Top-Tier Premier, Pound For Pound, Best Around. But when we lock up on June 5th, I'm putting him on the ground. Gonsalves? He's damn good. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've tapped out before. I know what my pain threshold is. I know what my limit is. So it's my job to make sure that he doesn't come anywhere close to making me reach my breaking point. That's a tall order against a submission specialist like him. But I'm up for the task. RYOKU NAITO: Who do you see as threats in Group B? CHANDLER SCOTT: Obviously Chris Madison. I've seen him run through some of the biggest and baddest in this industry. You don't go on the run that he did if you're not good. And he's as good as everyone says he is. I also have to point out Jason Cashe. I feel he's one of the GOATs of this industry. I've been following him for a minute now. From his days over in APW to 4CW, where he's one of the staples of that promotion. But you've also got Pariah, a PWX legend. I'm also looking at Suzuki and Shimada. There's a lot of good talent over there. RACHEL KENSHIN: What do you think gives you the edge over everyone else? What makes you believe that you can claim the Pride of Puroresu Crown? CHANDLER SCOTT: I believe it's my championship pedigree. Look, everyone up here has victories that we all hang our hats on, right? We all have wins that we're proud of. But when it comes to championship success? When it comes to performing under immense pressure? When it comes to performing on the big stage when those lights are at their brightest? You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone up here that does it better than me. And that's not disrespect. But it's the truth as I see it. I'm sure that there are many up here that disagree. And that's fine. Go ahead. But just know that I look forward to proving each and every last one of them wrong. I don't expect to coast through this tournament. I don't expect my name or my reputation to take me to the top of Group A. I don't expect my past accolades to take me all the way to the Finals. But relying on past championship experience, coupled with my expanding knowledge of the field and my expanding skillset... that, I believe, it was will take me to the top Group A. That, I believe, is what will take me to the Finals. That is what will help me win the Pride of Puroresu Crown and the GPC World Heavyweight Championship. And it all starts on June 1st against Akio Tanaka. He may be brash. He may be bold. But tomorrow night, his head will bow and his tongue will confess that Chandler... Reigns... Supreme. Thank you. (Chandler steps back from the podium and poses with his fists up. Lights flash as the sound of various camera shutters going off are heard...)

(Emerging onto the stage is "Your Hero and Mine" who receives a warm reception from those in the room, applauding him as he walks past Chandler Scott. A nod of respect from Storm towards Scott as he steps up onto the podium. Storm is dressed in a casual smart attire consisting of a white shirt buttoned up until the top two, black trousers which are skinny fit and black leather shoes to complete the attire. Draped on his shoulder is his coveted Honor Wrestling Championship which he wears with pride and before saying anything he lifts the title up into the air, showing it off to the numerous reporters and fans who have gathered here today, who all marvel at it's beauty. He smiles, draping the championship over his shoulder again and recomposing himself.)
MARK STORM: Wow, this is surreal. I first and foremost want to say thank you, for all coming here today to mark a special occasion in this promotion's history. I've been here since it's resurrection back in 2015 and I've watched this company grow into one of the biggest promotions in the world, let alone Japan and it's exciting to see the buzz around this promotion. There's a talent pool of guys and gals not only in this competition but in this promotion who have been working hard to make sure that this promotion solidifies itself as the leading promotion in professional wrestling.
(Applause rings through the room which ultimately stops Mark from continuing but he politely allows the applause to ensue, nodding his head in acknowledgement of the positive reaction from everyone in the room. He smiles, realizing that in this moment - he was apart of something more, something bigger than he firstly anticipated.)
MARK STORM: I want to say thank you to James Peterson. A man who I have known for many years beyond the world of wrestling and has been a mentor and a guide to me. I want to thank him for granting me this opportunity and for also remaining diligent through the rough patches this promotion has had. A lot of guys and gals came to this promotion last year and the year before and they rebuilt the legendary foundations that were set before by our predecessors. And a lot of those guys and gals, they left us to pursue other things, though some may find their leaving as somewhat inconsiderate, as they left at the toughest times this promotion endured, we have to thank them also because without them, this moment right here wouldn't be happening. The Pride of Puroresu Crown wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for them. For their legendary matches, and superb performances, this wouldn't be happening.
(Once again, he allows his speech to be overhauled by applause.)
MARK STORM: I get a lot of questions as to why I spread myself thin. You find Mark Storm pretty much everywhere in the wrestling world and I understand why people would want to know the answer. But it's quite simple. What I do, it's who I am. I am wrestling. Ever since I could remember this has been everything to me. Stepping in between those ropes and losing yourself entirely, becoming someone else in the process and delving into a world of danger, of unpredictability and uncertainty. It's a drug that I'm addicted to and I just can't seem to get enough of it. So when the opportunity was presented to me to compete in such a prestige competition, I didn't have to be asked again - it was an instant reply and almost immediately, flights were booked, rooms were accommodated and training begun.
Looking at the names involved in the series and it enticed me, it pulled me in but it wasn't just the people involved that made me want to do this. What's at stake, what's on the line, that's what pulled me in, that was the decider. The crown itself and the coveted Global Puroresu Crown World Heavyweight Championship. Two of the biggest prizes in Japanese wrestling and soon to be two of the biggest prizes in professional wrestling as a whole. The GPC title already has a history to be proud of, the inaugural champion being a man who carried this promotion to where it is now, mister Davidson. It's a title that I've always admired, and he is to credit for my infatuation with the title as he carried it with prestige and honor, and I look to do the same. But unlike Jace, I will not abandon you. Unlike Jace, I will not leave you in your time need. Unlike Jace, I will hold that title until the day someone rips it away from me, putting me down and out of my misery.
But I know, that it's not going to be an easy task. It's going to be a long, grueling, intense conquest but it's something I'm ready for. Something that I know everybody competing in the series is ready for. I'm excited for what's ahead and judging from how everybody has responded so far, they're excited too. This is an opportunity for us all to elevate our brand and show the world why we're the best wrestlers in the world. For me personally, there's a lot of matches that I've been wanting to happen that are finally going to be taking place. There's dream matches that are being fulfilled but I know that I have to go into those matches like any other match. With the man and woman standing opposite me, no one but a competitor. Someone in my way from attaining my goal and I'll run them over before they have the chance to stop me.
