The room fell to silence.
It was that time again.
Emerging from the back was the man, the myth and the legend who was accompanied by his new brothers in arm, Devin Hearst and Jack Tillman, all dressed in suits as cameras flashed towards them. The Dogs of War. That's what they'd proclaimed themselves to be after what went down at Global Takeover concerning the match between Mitsuo Shimada and Chris Madison. A match that was well contested with numerous spots being sighted as the best moments of the night, arguably, the match of the night, at least Shimada thought so. He walked onto the stage with an essence of flair, continuing to leave the room speechless as his footsteps echoed as he neared the podium, taking his step up and taking off his mask.
MITSUO SHIMADA: The world is ours.
He announced to the press room with his partners in war either side of him. He took off his blazer and placed it to the side, unveiling a championship belt and bringing it up to his shoulder, allowing the title to rest against it. It happened to be a replica. A replica of what everybody was fighting for. The GPC World Heavyweight title and the room suddenly broke from silence as murmurs could be heard from each corner of the room, as reporters and fans alike discussed whether he had stolen the title but that couldn't have been the case. The title was quite literally still in it's case next to James Peterson.
MITSUO SHIMADA: This is a sight that you all will be having to get used to. Me, at the top of the pedestal. Me, at the top of this promotion. Me, as the Global Puroresu Crown World Heavyweight Champion!
Every word had conviction behind it and if you were present in the room you'd be convinced that who you were looking at was the man to steer New Japan Fighting Championship to the very top of the wrestling industry.
MITSUO SHIMADA: Allow me to ask the questions. Do you believe me? Is this what you want?
Looking around the room for answers he paused. But no reply from anyone in the room, the silence was nerving.
MITSUO SHIMADA: You don't have to believe me. The only thing that is required from everyone in this room is acceptance. Acceptance of the future that is right before you, you're looking at the future of this promotion and you have to accept that fact. Accept that I will be the ace. Accept that I will win this Pride of Puroresu Crown and then the title too. Accept that there can be no alternative than what I just muttered. Is this what you want? Now, you don't want this. You want your favorites to win, of course. You know, the guys with the global stature like Chris Madison, or Your Hero and Mine or even the new Ace on the block, Chandler Scott. Deep down that's what you want.
But let me remind you, in this life you may not get what you want - but you'll get what you need. And what this promotion needs is more guys like myself, Devin Hearst and Jack Tillman. Ultimately, we compete for the best interest of this promotion. Myself being a native, Tillman and Hearst being original members of the roster who were here at it's inception. This promotions needs guys who are going to stick around. Hearst has his eyes set on the Global championship, which he will attain, there's no doubt about that. Tillman is set for the FIGHTING Spirit of Juniors, which he will win without a shadow of a doubt. And myself, well, to complete our perfect trifecta my eyes are fixated on the grand prize, the World Heavyweight title that will belong to me. This isn't what you want. Not right now, but you'll soon learn that this is what you need.
Tell me I'm crazy. Tell me that the words coming out of my mouth are insane, you'll just be preaching the same as everyone else who's come forward today, preaching their nonsensical bullshit that really doesn't concern me. You should all know by now that I'm able to back up my words with what I do inside the ring. Chris Madison knows. He knows he got a tougher challenge than he originally bargained and despite the match ending the way the both of us wanted to divert, I let my presence known and now, he knows that I'm a man who's prepared to do anything to attain my goals. He'll call it the cowards way but I'll call it desire, determination and grit to get the job done. He preached from the hill tops that he'd defeat me, an easy job yet I stunned him and the world and a legend was born.
My legend started with Chris Madison; and our story Chris, it hasn't ended. Our chapter is still to be complete but I've put you on the bench for now. Because my eyes are set on the prize we're both looking to get, and that's the Pride of Puroresu Crown and the title. By God, I'll make sure your hands don't get on them. In actual fact, I'll make sure that everybody in my group doesn't even get a sniff at the title! Because it belongs to me! You can be Jason Cashe, one half of the doofus brothers. I'll strike you down. Slade LaVey, I'll strike you down. My fellows natives in my group, I'll strike you down. Laughlin, Shelton, Crippler, Pariah and Black - you know the drill. And it all ends with you Madison. And what a way to cement your name in the finals of this competition.
Getting down from the podium, he rose the championship up in the air with a sickening smile on his face.
