The camera flickers to life as it shows me standing on the balcony of our hotel room here in Osaka, Japan. I’m dressed in a pair of black shoes, a pair of skin tight white denim trousers, a plain black tank top and a pair of black sunglasses.
“Are we rolling, honey?”
Jen, who’s operating the camcorder gives me a thumbs up as she keeps it focused on me and I glance out at the lovely view on such a glorious sunny morning.
“So Terrence Tillman gave me my first loss in the Pride of Puroresu Crown tournament…and all I have to say about that is congratulations to Triple T. You gave me one Hell of a fight and the better competitor won on that night.”
I turn my back to the camera and lean on the railing as Jen walks around to the side of me to get a better view of my face while I look out at our surroundings.
“But just because I lost that match, it doesn’t mean I’m just going to give up on my hopes of becoming the first ever woman to win this prestigious tournament. No!”
Turning my attention to the camera now, I glare into the lens with a look of pure determination.
“If anything, that loss has just increased my passion, drive and determination going ahead…and I know the rest of this tournament isn’t going to be easy, not by a long shot! But I am going to make DAMN sure that I don’t lose again!”
I smirk a little.
“Right now in the standings, Chandler Scott is in the lead with ten points, I’m in joint second place on seven points with Owen Gonsalves and Yuji Misawa with James Edwards, Tommy Knox and Mark Storm biting at our heels on six points.”
Turning around, I now lean back first on the railing as I look up to the sun for a few moments.
“And what makes that so interesting is that all of those six men I just mentioned are the final six men that I have left to face in the tournament, Mark Storm being the first opponent in my way.”
A slight breeze blows some of my hair in my face and so I brush it behind my ear.
“Mark and I aren’t all that different from each other. We’re both twenty eight, we both made our professional debuts in 2008, we’re both originally from New York, we were both introduced into the business because of our fathers, we have similar wrestling styles, we both fight for our fans and we refuse to give up no matter what. It’s going to be a very interesting match and I’m definitely going to be looking forward to stepping into the ring with you and putting on a match these great fans will never ever forget.”
I lightly scratch the side of my nose.
“And then after that, it’s Chandler Scott, the front runner in the group, the man I need to surpass in the standings if I’m going to have the opportunity of getting into the final to fight for the Pride of Puroresu Crown and the GPC World Heavyweight Championship. He’s proven himself in this tournament alone that even though he became a pro in his late twenties, he’s not someone to take lightly. He’s a technical mastermind who’s approach is methodical. But trust me when I tell you this Chandler, if you’re able to get past Konrad Raab still undefeated? You’re looking at the one who’s going to be the first person to defeat you in this tournament…because nothing lasts forever, Chandler. It’s nothing personal, trust me, I respect you just as much as I respect every other competitor in this tournament, but you’re in my way of achieving my dream and I’m not going to allow you to take that away from me!”
Lifting my right leg up and bending it, I place my foot on part of the railing behind me.
“Then up next is Tommy Knox, a veteran compared to me who can get a bit too cocky for his own good. He’s arrogant and if there is something he wants, he’ll do whatever it takes to get it, even if that means using underhanded tactics. That makes him a dangerous opponent, but he’s not going to be the first of his kind to meet me inside the squared circle and he sure as Hell ain’t gonna be the last. Tommy? You can try whatever you damn well want when we get into that ring against each other, because no matter what you do, I’m still walking out of our match with my arm raised!”
I stroke my hands through my long black hair.
“After Tommy, it’s Yuji Misawa, the most successful Japanese participant in this block so far. I don’t know much about him, but just like your fellow countrymen when they’ve stepped into the ring with me, you will be defeated by The Unbreakable One.”
Chuckling now, I remember who my next opponent will be.
“My penultimate match will be with a man I know quite well, Owen Gonsalves. We’ve worked in the same company before, but never faced each other. The moment I noticed we were in the same block Owen, I have been looking forward to facing you the most. You’re an amazingly talented wrestler and I know we’ll tear the house down when we do battle. It’s just a shame for you that you won’t be the one taking a victory from it.”
I push myself off the railing now, keeping my focus on the camera.
“And then finally, it’s James Edwards. The young rookie turning heads everywhere he goes, already well accomplished at the mere age of just twenty two. I hate to be the bearer of bad news here James, but just like everyone else…you’re going to fall too! You’ll all suffer my Judgement. Your Final Penance is coming!”
And with that, the camera shuts off.
