The camera flickers to life as I’m seen walking into the Dojo to do some more training and preparation for the remaining matches that I have left here in the Pride of Puroresu Crown tournament. I’m in a rather solemn mood as after watching some of the promos from other participants in this tournament, a certain trend keeps popping up that I never ever wanted to address myself, but I feel like it’s gotten to the point where I have to.
“You know, a lot of people have been talking about the GPC Committee and their decision to limit how many gaijin competitors sign with the company, for those who don’t know what the word means, it basically means foreigner, someone not Japanese.”
I continue walking as I let out an elongated sigh.
“Now, I understand that if the Committee feel like they want to produce more homegrown talent for their company, then that’s completely their choice. But I don’t appreciate how some of the Japanese talents in this company are attacking us gaijins simply because we’re not from this country and us being here is apparently wrong and we have no business being here.”
Chuckling a little, I shake my head.
“I’m sorry but, this tournament was open to anyone and everyone…was it not? It didn’t matter whether you were Japanese or not. Hell, it didn’t even matter if you wrestled in the Puroresu style! And on top of all that, I don’t mean to sound like a bitch here and without coming across as disrespectful here when I say this, but out of the four Japanese wrestlers involved in my block, only one of them has actually done well so far where all is ‘gaijins’ have been killing it!”
I rub the bottom of my nose slightly as I continue walking.
“I didn’t expect this kind of thing in this business in all honesty…you see this kind of unnecessary hatred all over the world and it pains me to see it in the industry that I love. I just don’t understand why we can’t just accept everyone for who we are because at the end of the day, there is one thing we all have in common and that is we’re all WRESTLERS!”
Reaching the locker room, I place my duffel bag down on the floor and sit down on the bench, allowing me to give the camera my full attention.
“Just because I’m a gaijin and just because I only signed to NJFC for this tournament, it does not mean that if I manage to win this tournament and become GPC World Heavyweight Champion that I’m just going to up and leave, forcing the Committee or James Peterson to vacate the title! No! If I do win it, then I am going to be a fighting champion! If I win that championship, if I am able too, I WILL sign to NJFC full time and I will compete whenever I am booked and you can all bet your asses that I will defend that championship every single time I am able too!”
I unzip my bag and begin to remove my training clothes.
“Just because I’m a gaijin does not mean I don’t have as much heart, drive, passion and determination for this sport! It does not mean that I do not think any less of the Japanese style of wrestling, the culture or the respect these great fans here give me! The reason why I travel to different countries to take part in these tournaments is because of how much I LOVE this sport! I live, breathe, eat and SLEEP wrestling! I wouldn’t be alive right now had it not been for wrestling! It saved my fucking life!”
Placing the camera down on a small table in front of me, I rest my elbows on my thighs.
“So if there are any Japanese wrestlers out there who have a problem with me, an American professional wrestler coming into your country and competing in this tournament? Then I DARE you to try and do something about it! Because as far as I’m concerned, any of you out there who do have a problem, you’re just jealous that you can’t even do well in a tournament where Japanese wrestlers are expected to flourish in!”
I remove the black hair tie from my bag and tie my hair up into a ponytail.
“And to those Japanese wrestlers out there who have no problems with people like me getting involved in this tournament, and thankfully there are more of you than there are of the ones who don’t, I thank you for accepting me and being respectful. It has truly been an honor to compete here in your country in this prestigious tournament.”
Removing my jacket, I carefully fold it up and place it into my bag.
“And speaking of the rest of this tournament. I’ve said all that I’ve needed to say in regards to the remainder of my opponents. You can all say that you want to win this tournament more than anyone else, but I’m the one who has not only said it…but I’ve shown it! I’ve made you all FEEL how badly I want to win this! This is the most important thing to me right now because it means that my father was right! It means that I can FINALLY make him proud and tell him that I finally did it! That I finally became a World Champion and I am NOT letting any of you take that away from me!”
I begin to unzip my long black leather high heeled boots and remove them.
“I will not lose! I will not quit! I will not break! Whether you all like it or not, you shall all suffer my Judgement! Your Final Penance…is coming!”
And with that, I shut the camera off and the screen goes black, ready for some more training so I’m ready to win the Pride of Puroresu Crown.
