Chandler Scott: As the days continue to wind down here in the Group Stage, I have to start thinking long term. I've got to start taking a peek over in Group B and see how things are measuring up there. Some would say that would be putting the cart before the horse. Others would say that I'm doing myself a disservice by looking past my remaining opponents in Block A. Maybe I am. But ladies and gentlemen, at this stage in the game, I have to start thinking about the best case scenario. And the best case scenario for me would be standing across the ring from whomever was lucky enough to make it out of Block B.
And just who would that be? Maybe it'd be Jason Cashe, a bonafide legend who I have never had the opportunity of going up against. Though I did face his fellow tag team champion, Tommy Knox, and defeated him right in the center of the ring. So it would almost be poetic for Tommy's tag team partner to meet me in the Finals... only to fall short of defeating me.
Perhaps it's going to be Mitsuo Shimada, a man that has been turning heads with his actions inside the ring, as well as his words outside of it. There's no doubt that the man is talented and has kept up a great pace, thus far. But it's also well known that wherever you guy, your Dogs of War aren't too far behind. As a matter of fact, the last time we saw you, you and yours dogs were beating the dogsh*t out of Chris Madison. It's no secret that there's no love lost between you and Madison. But when your paths eventually do cross, I wonder how well you'd fair against Mayhem if you kept your dogs at bay? And should you someone make it past Madison and make it all the way to the end of Block A, I wonder how well you'd fair against me in the finals. You say you're unstoppable... unquenchable... undefeated. But if you and I meet up in the Finals, Shimada, you'll simply be... unconscious.
Then there's you, Chris Madison, a man that some are saying is the odds of favorite to win Block B. And rightfully so. Over the past year or two, there aren't many men that could rival the run that I've been on. But you have the distinction of being one of the very few that have kept pace with me. Not just in this tournament. But in this industry. A ten month reign as 4CW's Pride Champion? A championship that only left your possession when you vacated it? A 15 month winning streak? That, Chris, is the stuff that legends are made of. You and I have never had the pleasure of stepping into the ring together. But if you live up your end of the bargain, do what you're supposed to do and advance past Block B? Then that could all change. I've been in the ring against some of the very best. All these years later, there's very few names left on my bucket list. I just crossed off a major one not too long ago. You, however, are still left. And I plan on doing everything in my power to make sure that I advance to the Finals. I'll be standing in that ring waiting for the winner of Group B. Will you walk through those curtains and meet me? Or will it be someone else?
At the worst times over the last few months, you have found yourself not just on the short end of the stick. But you've found yourself being royally screwed over. Your 15 month winning streak? Gone thanks to a low blow. Your initial chance at FGA's Pride Championship? Up in smoke thanks to getting rolled up with a handful of tights. After finally becoming a champion in FGA, which is something that you've been waiting nearly three years for, you lose your precious title in your first attempt thanks to blatant outside interference. Let's not forget your match with Cashe. A match between two titans was ruined thanks to attack on the both of you from the Dogs of War. Some of your high profile matches have a penchant for attracting bullsh*t, Chris. But should you and I be lucky enough to meet up in the finals, you wouldn't have to be on the lookout for any chicanery. I won't cheat you. I don't need a low blow, a handful of tights or interference to beat you. All I need... are these two fists. They've knocked out many a men, Chris. You've seen it with your very own eyes. But seeing it and actually experiencing it? Two totally different things. But don't you worry. Should we meet in the Finals, you'll become acquainted with these fists.
Some would ask me why I'm so arrogant. But I'm not. I'm just confident in my abilities. Supremely confident, as a matter of fact. Nobody's perfect. Any one of us could lose on any given day. But for me, I don't see that day being today, tomorrow, July 6th, July 10th or even July 14th. I've been dropping knowledge and dropping opponents since 2011 and guess what? That trend won't be stopping anytime soon. The rest of the competition? They're telling you what they think you want to hear. They're telling you what they think sounds cool or what would make a good soundbyte. Me? I just tell it like it is. So here it is, one more time, for the last time. Only one man is walking out of this tournament with his hand raised and with a title in tow. And that is yours truly. And unlike the last two men to hold that belt? This guy right here? He's got some staying power. So get used to the view, because you're looking at your next GPC World Heavyweight Champion!
