Our scene opens to Chandler Scott, who is walking along the gorgeous Hamarikyu Gardens. He takes in the sights of the peony garden and cosmo fields before turning his attention to the camera.
"One of the biggest nights in wrestling this year is upon us. The 2017 Pride of Puroresu special will be taking place this Sunday night. The finals of the Pride of Puroresu Crown will pit two of the greatest wrestlers in the world today against each other for the first time ever."
"You know, whether you're a fellow wrestler or a wrestling fan, every single one of us has dream matches. Be it matches that we want to see ourselves in or matches where we wished one of our contemporaries could have faced one of the legends from yesteryear. We all have these fantasy scenarios in our heads. But here in 2017, the idea of dream matches is becoming few and far between. There's hardly any exclusivity anymore. Everyone and their Mother wants to wrestler in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 companies at a time. Everyone has crossed paths with each other half a dozen times by now. But here in late July of 2017, we have a bonafide dream match on our hands, ladies and gentlemen. I'm talking about yours truly going one on one with Chris Madison!"
"On the big stage."
"Under the bright lights."
"For the richest prize in all of Puroresu."
"It doesn't get much better than this."
"Over the past month and a half, I've had to outwit, out-maneuver and out-wrestle the competition. To say that my road to the Finals was easy would be selling every man and woman that I faced along the way severely short. My road to the final was anything but a breeze. It was a long, arduous road that I had to travel over the past month and a half. There were a ton of close calls. There were people that pushed me harder than I thought they would. There were people that I went up against that I had the advantage of being familiar with, thanks to us being in the same company back in the States. I didn't have that same luxury when it came to my other opponents, whether they be native or gaijin. So I had to adapt. I had to learn on the fly or else I'd be standing where 22 other competitors are right now. And that's on the outside looking in. Instead, I'm standing in one of the two most enviable spots in all of NJFC. That's right here in the Finals... in the Main Event... with an opportunity to walk out both the Pride of Puroresu Crown winner, as well as your new GPC World Heavyweight Champion."
"Over the last six or seven weeks, I didn't fly 14 hours back and forth for the experience. This hasn't been some extended vacation for me. This right here has been nothing but hard work. And after Sunday night, I plan on enjoying the fruits of my labors with the GPC World Championship."
"But there's one thing that's standing in the way between me and that championship. And his name is Chris Madison."
"Over the last few weeks, I'm sure you've all heard Madison take his little hots at Shimada. I'm sure you've heard him poke and prod the GPC Committee with their stance on the gaijin vs. native issue here in NJFC. But what I would suggest Mr. Madison do is to turn his attention away from Shimada... turn his attention away from the committee... turn his attention away from all the tournaments and one-offs he's signed himself up for... and focus on the task at hand. Which is yours truly. You might say that you're focused on me. You might say that I'm your priority. But your actions as of late prove otherwise. So I would suggest you get your head in the game Madison. Because despite all your talent, even someone as seasoned and as successful as you are isn't above getting their ass kicked."
"You say you're going to knock the chip off my shoulder? You say you're going to leave me a bloody heap? Heh. I'd like to see you try. It's one thing to be boisterous when a camera has been shoved in your face and everybody is filling your head with visions of grandeur. It's another thing to keep that same energy inside the squared circle... when I'm breathing down you're neck... when I'm shutting you down at every turn. Make no mistake about, I'm bracing myself for war because I know that a man of your caliber is bringing Hell my way. I'm well aware of the fact that a man like you can and will beat my ass. But what will you do when I'm still breathing... when I don't stay down... when I keep escaping that three count? What will you do then, Mr. Mayhem? Mr. NJFC? Hmm?"
"FYI - The longer this match goes, the more it goes into my favor, actually. You're looking at a man who outlasted three other men for 89 minutes and walked out not just a winner... but a World Champion. You're looking at a man with a spotless record in Ironman Matches. So the next time you want to use a tired cliché, I would suggest you reconsider or just let Frankie handle all the talking while you do the heavy lifting. But come this Sunday? The only man doing any heavy lifting will be me... when I'm lifting that PoP trophy and World Championship over my head."
"Nights like this Sunday are why we continue to do this, even after all the success we've had. Win or lose, I'll shake your hand because I respect the hell out of you. But only one of us is walking out of that ring as the new GPC World Heavyweight Champion. And deep down, in your heart of hearts, you know who that man is."
