(We don't have to wait long for Cosmo Cooper to walk into the room with a smirk on his face. Cosmo is wearing his big match suit. We saw it against Dom Harter and we are seeing it now. It's eccentric, loud and some of the Japanese press buzz as he walks in. Cosmo has his 4CW tag belt over his shoulder as he nods over his sunglasses as he looks around before he finally settles in at the table. He adjusts his tie with a nod and lays both of his arms across the table as he looks around, waiting for someone to ask the first question.)
NJFC AMERICA: Cosmo, you've had quite the journey to get to this moment. How are you feeling headed into a match like this against Chandler Scott?
(Cosmo looked to either side of him, raises his arms to check those out and then shrugs.)
COSMO COOPER: I feel great, man. You know this Japan deal sort of spiraled out of control—in a very good way for me. The first trip over I was nervous how they would... accept an outsider like me, yanno? I've got the long hair and... I don't know. I didn't expect them to accept me like they did. The minute I heard them chant my name on the first show, I knew I was home. I knew that no matter what—even if everyone stopped booking me I could come here and I would always have a home. NJFC has a feel to it that no matter what I've been through or who I have faced I feel an energy when I step off that plane.
(A few hands shot up and Cosmo nodded to someone near the front.)
WRESTLEBLOG: Many peg Scott as the "ace" here in NJFC. How would you respond to that.
(Cosmo rubbed his chin with a small smile.)
COSMO COOPER: I mean you're talking about a guy who has big win after big win. I got no problems with people calling him the ace while he has the belt. I'm humble...
(There's a rumbling of laughter.)
COSMO COOPER: Nobody can deny the run I've put together here, but here's the thing. I've put this run together all over the world. Here's my question, who do you people want as the ace of this company? Hm?
(Cosmo turned the question on the press and they stayed quiet.)
COSMO COOPER: Because I've done what I've done in NJFC in every CWC fed. If that isn't enough for you, I've done it in 4CW. If that isn't enough I did it in countless of other companies that closed. I’m not just doing in one or two places. I'm doing it all over the world. So, like. Let me ask you this. Do you want your champion taking that belt with you on the road to 4CW? Because you know what Chandler Scott is thinking about during all of this?
(Cosmo picked up his phone and quickly scrolled through it and then held it up for the press to see. They snapped their cameras and phones.)
COSMO COOPER: He's taking selfies, with great lighting I may add. I'm sure he's well known within whatever circle he's in. But he isn't me. So you tell me who the ace is.
(Rapidly hands shot up and cameras clicked and flashed as Cosmo leaned back.)
WORLD WRESTLING MAGAZINE: So what are you saying? You're better than Chandler because of the places you wrestle? Some would say quality over quantity
(Another laugh from Cosmo, he was really in a good mood.)
COSMO COOPER: My quanity is quality, though. Look, I’m not sitting here saying I am better than Chandler. All I’m saying is Chandler Scott will not outwork me. He hasn't outworked me when I am not the champion. He won't outwork me with the championship. The wheel doesn't stop moving, man. I'm in a new town every single night most of the time and I love it. I sacrifice everything. I’m not out here trying to get likes on Twitter with some selfie. I'm trying to represent every company I fight for to the fullest. I'm not out here glory chasing. I’m not out here trying to win for the feather in the cap. I'm trying to make this life or death. I just need to know if Chandler is the same way.
(More hands shot up, Cosmo pointed to a local Japanese reporter. He spoke and then the question was translated.)
NJFC Documentary Crew: You seem to be unhappy about the way Chandler has represented the company as champion, but what would you do that would be so different?
(Cosmo pursed his lips together for a moment.)
COSMO COOPER: I would take this championship with me to championship matches in 4CW. I would take it to the tournament I am in this summer in Carnage. I have nothing against Chan, he's a great talent. He's been great for NJFC and he's gotten some huge wins here... but I will out work him. I promise you that. And you know what? I may fail. I may have to eat my words, but you know what? That's okay. I will work my way back to this spot again because of my work ethic. I won't stop until I have that NJFC belt around my waist and I won't stop until I am called your ace.
(A few more hands shot up. Cosmo pointed at one.)
NJFC MAGAZINE: Any final words for Chandler before your big match?
(Cosmo grinned.)
COSMO COOPER: I'm coming for him, I’m gunning for him. I know he's the ace. I recognize that but I would welcome that challenge if I were the true ace. I would crave people who would want to challenge me. I've been in a lot of big matches in 2017 and now in 2018 but I am on a roll. I went 60 minutes with Devin Hearst. I've beaten Johnny Amazing. Retained the 4CW tag titles with Jeb. I've beaten or drawn with everyone put in front of me... I hope Chandler can find the time to find the perfect lighting for a selfie after I take his belt.
(And with that, Cosmo stood up and left after posing for a few pictures.
