Saving a life with a ladder. Tokyo, Japan. Tuesday 23rd February.
Everyone takes risks to do something for their lives if it’s in their jobs, life in general or even both, but today is a day where a block of flats are on fire. All the firemen come out of the truck, but there’s one man involved to possibly save people while visiting the fire department known as the NJFC Global title contender, “The Iceman” Stefan Raab. He stands for a moment, waiting for instructions of what to do as he turns to the cameras to see he might save a life and speaks.
Stefan Raab: “I know it’s unusual for a wrestler who might save a life today, but I only came to the Tokyo fire department just to visit and talk about how they risk their own lives to save people from devastating fires every day. Sometimes they don’t enjoy it, but they have to get along and work as a team because of it, but that’s not the reason why I’m here. It’s to do with my opponent who’s the Global champion Johnny Bonecrusher and the stipulation for our match.”
No one knew why the match between Stefan and Johnny is a ladder match. He’s watching a fireman planting something on the roof of the flat that’s on fire and stands for now before he speaks again.
Stefan Raab: I respect you a lot as you’ve deserved it and you spoke very highly of me lately before winning the Global belt like how I’ve deserved this title shot and saying I'm a talented wrestler which you are too. Hell, you’re experience in this business outweighs mine as I’ve only been wrestling for almost four years and you’ve been wrestling for eighteen years. It’s amazing how many eliminations you’ve made in the battle royal to be the Global champion. You’ve shown pride and honour to this business I look up to, especially as a champion and certainly a threat to beat me because of that, along with the experience you’ve had in ladder matches.”
After waiting a while, Stefan is instructed to go up the ladder to save a person from the massive blaze of fire and he nods to accept as he knew it’s a big task for him, but is very hesitant to climb up a ladder, but he knew what the firemen had planned as he places a microphone around his head before putting the helmet back on and he looks at it for a bit before he slowly climbs as he speaks.
Stefan Raab: “I’ve never ever wrestled a ladder match in my life because the only dangerous match I’ve wrestled in is a cage match. All other matches have been normal rules, but thanks to a guy called Colby Rhyann, he’s been training me for the ladder match and it’s no secret I really distaste weapon matches because I find them unnecessary which even you would agree with too.”
Suddenly, Stefan falls off the ladder as he hit his head pretty hard, but there’s two more firemen coming to Stefan as he got up and this time, two of them held the ladder and he again climbs slowly towards the ladder and speaks again.
Stefan Raab: "This shows how dangerous ladders can be outside of wrestling as I’m climbing up this ladder not just to capture the title on the roof, but to save someone’s life too. Johnny, I’d rather show all of my wrestling skills to you in the ring and win via pinfall or submission because that’s what wrestling is about, bringing honour and respect back in this sport. We may not like this decision, but it’s something we'll do for one night and maybe James is onto something on making this match for the fans to experience and although I’ve never been forced to use a weapon to win a match, I won’t hit you with one because I’m better than that. I’m aware Kurt Newman attacked us violently, but we won’t worry about him for now because we can’t lose focus on each other."
Stefan’s half way up the ladder now and he’s got a few more steps to go to save someone’s life and speaks again.
Stefan Raab: “Colby told me about climbing a ladder to win and from his advice, it’s the only way to win the match and the Global title. I’ve only lost one title match in my career which can make myself looking a threat too because I’ve always pushed myself hard to win them. I’m not trashing you because you’ve said nothing bad about me and the loss I had against Jace Davidson has made me want to win even more.”
He reaches to the top of the ladder where he goes inside to lift a man up and grabs the belt before slowly climbing down the ladder as he drops the man to his feet before going up to the top with more speed to say this standing on top of the ladder again, raising the belt above his head.
Stefan Raab: “I want to win the Global title badly, especially the skills you have in the ring, but I want to prove the world that I can be a successful wrestler not only in America and Canada, but in Japan as well because I need to win to gain experience from this match and being able to overcome my weaknesses to win. I'll talk more about this later in the week about our match at the PPV."
Stefan went back to the fire department to change into his normal clothes before going back to his hotel room to get some sleep for the rest of the night.
